Nintendo Switch games that appear in an improved form on the Nintendo Switch 2 and the new games cost up to 80 US dollars or 90 euros in Europe . On the one hand it is understandable but on the other hand it demands a lot from the buyers . What do you think?

I can see nintendo fans will like it as it is an upgrade over the original.

But if your a PC gamer I think you get your graphical needs met on your PC.

As for the game price, I think it is a bad idea. It is ok if you know the game is going to be great, and rewarding. But to make it a standard is a bad idea.

There's also the fact that Nintendo doesn't really do sales.
The most they'll usually go down by during one of their "sales" is 10, maybe 20 percent, even for games that are already quite a few years old. So not only is that 80-90 bucks per game - the price will stay there for a long, long time. No matter what.

Even as a big fan of Nintendo's games, I'm not okay with that.

Got a wii, DSi, 2DSXL, N3DSXL, a SNES mini, RP5 (where GBA emu goes), as well as a PC for switch emu. They're all modded but I own some physicals as well.

I'm very much fine with not getting a switch 2. It's simply financially irresponsible, even for someone like me, despite being able to afford it. Supporting this kind of practice is ridiculous.

I remember when you could buy a brand new game for £30. (Once discs became common.)
Then I remember it going to £40... then £50... then £60... then people were saying "Oh, it's always been £60", and then it went to £70... and now it's going to £80 and £90.

And I've not even included the special editions that frequently go for over £100! And those only include the things that those big box £30 PC games used to come with standard!

And to top it all off, games make waaaaaaaaay more now than they ever did back then. And that's even WHEN you remove the increased cost of development from the profit they're making.

Inflation is a heck of a thing man.

Hi Dany, please check your instagram at your convenience :)

I'll pirate them as always, I only give money to Nintendo for the hardware tbh.

Imagine spend almost 100 in a game that you can beat in a day and has no replay value

Oh, wait. Now is normal!?
Imagine people spending hundreds and hundreds in a gacha game that will likely close sooner or later. Sounds way retarded, right? but it's real :)

Bring back the Nintendo Classics and it'll soften the blow. For us old enough to remember the 90s and 00s, $80 is just back to the normal. Remembering that it was 25 years ago makes me sick.... lol

That old yet you don't understand that your own parents' wages could back then deal with the occasional game for their kid? Or food prices for the matter? Come on.

$80 for Mario Kart World and charging $10 -- or anything, really -- for Nintendo Switch 2: Welcome Tour is just insulting. Nintendo Switch 2: Welcome Tour is literally a digital instruction manual. It's far more simplistic than Wii Sports or Nintendo Land. It should be a pack-in that introduces Switch 2 owners to the console and its features, not a paid download. Just ridiculous.

Also, as if the news hasn't been bad enough for Nintendo as of late, the Switch 2's $90 Joycons won't have hall effect sticks. So expect the stick drift problem once again, and that's a real problem when the controllers are $90.

Nintendo doesn't really do sales.
They regularly do sales. They rarely lower the price permanently. Maybe they don't sell their games for 90% off (pretty sure the other first parties don't either but correct me if I'm wrong), but you can often get big discounts.

You could also get games used, which I often do if I don't want to pay full price. There were some first-party Switch games that I skipped out on over the last year or two because I was playing other stuff at the time and had built up a backlog, and I just picked them all up used this week for a pretty decent discount off the original price. I got Echoes of Wisdom ($40), Luigi's Mansion 2 HD ($30), Thousand Year Door ($20), Nintendo World Championships ($19), and Pikmin 1+2 ($39). Actually Pikmin was new but it was cheaper than the original price.

I judge games by however much I'm going to get out of it for the price. Any time that I don't think it's worth the price or I'm unsure about it, I wait and get it used for cheap. I did that for Kirby Star Allies ($60 for a 2d Kirby game???), Splatoon 2 (had never played Splatoon before, didn't want to pay full price in case I didn't like it), and hell I got Pokemon Sword for $30 just a few months after it released (didn't want to buy it new because I was disappointed in Game Freak over Sun/Moon).

Between sales and used games, you could easily get by never paying full price for games.

Right, so adjusted for inflation, $80 in 1999 was $156. The cost of one game (I got per year) is the same as two games today....

It's not ONLY the pricing of the games that is the problem

It's the price for the Accessories as well!
  • When it comes to accessories, though, prices have broadly gone up across the board. Here's a point-by-point rundown:

    • Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller - $84.99
    • Joy-Con 2 Pair - $94.99
    • Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip - $39.99
    • Joy-Con 2 Strap - $13.99
    • Joy-Con 2 Wheel Set - $24.99
    • Nintendo Switch 2 Camera - $54.99
    • Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set - $119.99
    • Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case & Screen Protector - $39.99
    • Nintendo Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case - $84.99
    • Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter - $34.99
