Newest game that you personally consider retro?

Any games that came out 20 years ago are now retro.

There's a real chance that folks born after 2005 will never play a PS2 game.

Kingdom Hearts II,
God of War,
Need for Speed: Most Wanted,
Star Wars: Battlefront II,
Mario Kart DS,
Resident Evil 4,
Shadow of the Colossus,
Guitar Hero and Devil May Cry 1-3

are now all retro.

Accepting this in my heart makes me feel younger!

Octopath Traveler, it's a "new" game but it have all the bad thing that a 90's SNES jrpg game have.

Ten hour of continuous grind to level up your characters so they don't die in one hit against every mob on the next part of the map.
That's the issue regarding authenticity of the era it's replicating.

This is all subjective of course, but the thread is asking for my opinion so here it is.

I think there is a difference between a retro game and a game made in a retro style.
This thread is blurring the two.

Lots of newer indy games are made in the retro style. I just played Gigasword which was a fun Metroidvania/Puzzle game in this style.

But the "newest" game that I'd consider retro is anything from Gen 6 (PS2/GC/Xbox).
After that generation, we started getting wider use of Bluetooth, HDMI, and motion controls which really changed things in a way that I personally use to delineate retro/modern.

Personally, I'd say that the jump from "retro" early ps2-era graphics to the would-be early 7th gen standard happened when Resident Evil 4 came out.

I would probably Consider Oblivion the newest game that I would call Retro maybe even Skyrim but that would be pushing it.
Al games after that I simply can not call Retro

The N64 and PS1 were considered retro in 2011 which was around a decade or so after those consoles ended. People have this perception that something can't be considered retro unless it has heavy graphical limitations.

I do understand the importance of segregating online discussion of seventh generation era games, as the people who seek out retro games discussion are generally older zoomers and millennials who want to discuss their childhood nostalgia. You can still talk about 7th generation games on normie gaming spaces.

I’d actually point to Crow Country as one of the newest games that genuinely feels retro. And it’s not just the PS1 look (although that helps). It’s the gameplay that really sells it for me.

It doesn’t chase modern design trends, it just does exactly what it wants to do and sticks to the classic survival-horror formula. That alone makes it feel like it could’ve released 20 years ago.

What I also really liked is that it actually ends. So many modern games (even single-player ones) feel like they’re trying to keep you playing forever, but Crow Country is a complete little package from start to finish. Refreshing, honestly.

This is a pet peeve of mine, but technically "retro" means "something new in the style of something old." So Octopath Traveler or Crow Country are "retro." SNES and PS1 games are simply "old." Or "vintage" if you prefer.

any pre 2010 wii game. I constantly have a insane feeling of "holy shit I'm old" whenever I look at how old wii sports, and given the fact it was weaker graphics wise than the ps3 or xbox and it like bolsters that feeling even more. retro style wise its actually harder for me to pick given I'm so picky on how "accurate" a lot of retro inspired games (both indie and triple a) are but uhhhh, probably something like cave story or like N++ have that like old school feeling to me (cave story even more given with n++ it was mainly the gameplay that like reminded me of a more like evolved form of those bullshit platformers from back then lol)
