New Year (Game) Resolutions!

That game thats been sitting on your shelf for the past 2 years that you always wanted to play but never got around to?
that post game superboss you never beat but want to?
that game you really enjoyed but dropped for external factors but still really want to finish?
speedrun/challenge run goals?

Whatever your New Years Gaming resolution is, lets hear em?

(mine are to finally play both the first xenoblade chronicles game and super metroid)

I don't usually have games that I haven't gotten around to playing since I try to play them when I first buy them.

No new games, but I have a goal for the existing games

I wanted to at least beat or finished the main story of the game that I haven't finished, especially the ones that was left untouched for months

@Waffles I believe this is duplicate thread ?

Yes, it is.

For some reason I'm unable to merge them, so I'll just lock the newest one.

ok v.3 was C.A.R.D. Revolution for GC only, right? played that on Dolphin n the actual card/TB-Tactics system is weird cuz it seems to make you have to forfeit your first turn or action or whatever, even though the initiative is supposed to be yours? wtf, so every battle encounter is like you goin "HEY computer-generated Parma monster! I'm so confident I'll win that I'll let you make the first move!! hoo hoo ha ha OH SHIZZ biggggg mistake aiiiieeee" n you start every fight from behind. SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters Clash DS had a similar not-broken-but-damn-well-devoid-of-fun set of rules that shoots intuition in its big fat clumsy foot. or maybe I don't have enough cognitive reasoning aptitude to thrive in bamboozled, ridiculous, overcomplicated rules n systems that reminds me of that so-stupid-it's-legendary Flying Warriors 16-pg. pamphlet detailng the revolutionary "Hiryu no Ken" system n its Engrish glory ("you can choose many fighting actions!") goddammit, Culture Brain. if any of you are still alive - never change. keep it goin. ok wait what are we talkin about again, I flew off the geographic microcosm with 'tangentry' - plz forgive. now uhh... so what was v.4? you mean Phantasy Star Portable 1 & 2 n Phantasy Star Universe were not the next PS games after v.3? not counting compilation shit like Blue Burst. what was v.4 or so on like? did they... did they adopt the HIRYU NO KEN system? Yuji Naka lost his damn mind!!!! And Other Stories.

but no seriously, spill ze beans - what were these import-only PSOs like? *tape records your text for 60 Minutes interview*

Hmm, there are a lot of things to do!
Here's some, not in order of importance.

- Finish some psx jrpg I have in my backlog, specially Xenogears. I never played it personally back in the day, I just see scenes here and there thanks to a friend of mine. I was very into into at the time so I managed to avoid any spoilers. Today, playing it and knowing a lot of the influences, it's easy to spot some twists and turns but seems like a great game nonetheless. I'm still amazed at the masterful use of 3d backgrounds and 2d sprite to achieve great levels of drama and cinematic action and shots without going the stale route of hyperrealism.

- Find more visual novels with elements I like (cyberpunk, mecha, sci-fi). It's for research for a possible project. A friend gifted me some and I loved them. Will tackle the Muv-Luv franchise during some sale. I also read some of Full Metal Daemon Muramasa but I wasn't really attracted by some of the themes.

- I'll have to finish Xenoblade on Wii: I restarted it numerous times due to various unexpected events and... years passed. I'll have to manage to find a suitable Wii to Hdmi adapter for my tv. If someone has suggestions about that I'm open to all options.

I don't really have any except to finish a bunch of games that have been in my backlog for years. My top priorities this year are to beat

  • The Witcher 3 - It's been on my computer since launch. I just restarted a new game after picking at a save for 8 whole years. It's time. This one is my top priority
  • Dishonored 2, Prey, The Evil Within 2, NeiR: Automata, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Resident Evil 2 (2019), Resident Evil 3 (2020), Star Wars: Jedi Survivor. All of these have been installed on my PC since launch and need to be finished already. It's ridiculous!
  • Dive back into my retro games and finish some more stuff. Anything from GBA to Saturn.
  • Finish more fighting games. I have several that need to be finished as in the story modes. Tekken 7, Street Fighter 6, Dead or Alive 6, Guilty Gear -Strive-.
  • Finish more racing games. I have a $700 wheel setup and didn't touch it at all this year. I have quite a few racing games that I need to get through.
Then again, life keeps getting in the way. Career, kids, exhaustion, trips, plans, getting sick, etc.

- Finish Pandemonium 2 on PlayStation.
- Complete the Shock Wave series, for whatever reason I haven't completed them yet.
- Start playing the recent English fan translated Princess Crown by Atlus
- Would like to complete at least (1) game in the Sakura Taisen series.
- Casually playing Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves online.
- Would like to complete at least (1) game in the Shining series.
- Complete the The Legend of Xanadu series including Kaze no Densetsu Xanadu.
- Start playing the English fan translated Battle Blues by Shin's Entertainment.
- Finish Blade Force on 3DO.
