This year my main objective would be finishing every game I haven't done yet. I've completed quite many but there are a lot I haven't yet.

So far I've done McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure, Dynamite Headdy (with a translated Japanese version and doing the secret post game boss) and I'm currently doing Light Crusader.

Here's a full list of their library:

So far I've finished Gunstar Heroes, McDonald TLA, Alien Soldiers, Dynamite Headdy, Radiant Silvergun, Sin & Punishment, Ikaruga, Gradius V and Sin & Punishment Star Successor.

I played the crap out of Mischief Makers. Somebody needs to bring that to modern systems. And Gunstar Heroes too.

Is this not too messy to emulate in PJ-64? Shame that this wasn't in the NSO (at least Sin & Punishment is there).

Gunstar Heroes is ported to every Genesis compilation but I'd love to see Super/Future Heroes (as well as other GBA) and other XBLA games like Guardian Heroes and Bangai-O Missile Fury coming to PC.

Astro Boy Omega Factor for the GBA was Treasure's best game imo. After that, Dynamite Headdy, and Bangai-O are in my top 3
I've "finished" the game until I discovered that there's a post game but I have 0 idea how to do it.

I recall you have to pay close attention to what the NPC's tell you in the Rebirth route, also you need to upgrade the sensors to max to tell if there is a hidden NPC, after that... yeah, good luck or a walkthrough will do

I shall use a guide then because I don't wanna spend too much time.

Also the Japanese version seems like a beta because of the many changes and added enemies in the western release.

Treasure is easily one of the best developers ever. I think my favorite is Radiant Silvergun but most of there games are just ace.

Over time I've played through most of Treasure's library. My favorite is probably Star Successor: such an incredible sensory overload of a game with some of the most creative and blood-pumping boss fights ever. It's criminal that it's stuck on the Wii.

I've also played Gaist Crusher God, a JP-only 3DS game they developed for Capcom, which is my "underrated" pick. I mean it's a pretty repetitive 3D beat-'em-up, don't get me wrong, but the progression elements are fun and I have a soft spot for the "2000s toyetic anime" aesthetic.

man dynamite headdy beat my ass, stair wars was such a shit level
The one in the tower? Agreed but when you get the pattern it gets easier.

Yeah, they came and went like a boom. Shame that they barely exist nowaday and that there is barely any dev to make energetic games like they do (well, Platinum isn't far but it's not exactly the same).

I've played it two years ago as I've learnt that you could play without the need of having motion control but a Gamecube pad. It's really good and shows that even the Wii could produce quality games. Sadly it was also their last big home console game.

I think I still have a soft spot for the original 64 game.

Well, if it wasn't for the 3DS being region locked I would've tried the two games.

Gaist Crusher! I have it downloaded in my 3DS, I just don't know japanese to play it lol. Learning Hiragana and Katakana has been in my to-do list for a while.

You have a 3DS? Luma can bypass this problem, alloewing you to play any game from any region, and Gaist Crusher God is a re-release of the original one with new stuff and bonuses.

They have quite an unique output. From these I've only finished Dynamite Headdy and Wario World, both very good games in my book. Some of their weirder ideas like Stretch Panic and Mischief Makers are hard to get used to, though.

The other day I tried recording Stretch Panic for a youtube video, I just needed a snipped of it to show it works on the RG406H. Man I used to love Stretch Panic so much when it first came out and even tho I haven't played it in a good 20 years I figured hey, I'll just jump right in, stretch some boobs out and capture some cool footage...nope, not happening.
The game has much deeper and more intricate mechanics than what I remembered. I remember bouncing all over the levels, having full control of Linda and her scarfs, racking up points and finishing each level in no time at all, now I couldn't even figure out how to do basic stuff.

I will have to re-learn how to play this one, I have such fond memories of it but for whatever reason I never played it past 2004 or so.

I forgot to update but I've finished Light Crusader days ago and I've just finished Yu Yu Hakusho Makyou Touitsusen (aka Sunset Fighters) which means I've officially done every Genesis games by them.

The first was an interesting game as a dungeon crawler in isometric 3D (reminiscent of Diablo in some way) but I feel that there are too many puzzles compared to the action and your inventory gets filled too quickly without the possibility to discard items (only selling them to specific NPCs) as you get more mandatory items to progress in the story and sadly the money is too scarce to get to buy a sword at the store before you get a better one in the dungeon...

Yu Yu Hakusho is a weird case of a fighting game that isn't a Street Fighter Clone as it's one where you can fight as 4 players and in two separate lanes (akin to Fatal Fury). I see Guardian Heroes and the DS Bleach game (Blade of Fate and Dark Souls) as spiritual successors to this one.

Oh and as GuileWinQuote said: It's actually an Asuka 120% inspired game which could've jump-started its own sub-genre.

4 players fighting action years before Smash Bros ! ! !

I kinda appreciate how experimental they can be.

Since we're talking about Treasure there I'd post this

I have played some indie games that reminded me of Treasure game-design wise:

Noitu Love 2 Devolution

Bleed 1&2 (especially the sequel for having a colour code)

Copy Kitty (with a bit of Hal Laboratory)

The first Freedom Planet is a love letter to Genesis action games so it's not surprising to see a Gunstar Heroes influence in it

I'm shortly reviving this thread to show that Alien Soldier has a hack that allows you to use all of the 6 buttons of the fighting pad to make it more convenient for everyone who would feel limited by the 3 buttons (X, Y, Z and Mode are used for the shoot mode hold, counter force, zero teleport and shoot mode toggle respectively).

There are two major versions of the hack: shoot mode hold and shoot mode toggle for X depending if you're using the shoulder button for that mode or if you are on keyboard.

There's also a hybrid variant of the hack that still allows the "legacy" controls (like down+A for shoot mode and down+C for Zero Teleport) for veterans players that still retain muscle memory from the original layout (but not recommended for newcomers as it may make them do mis-inputs).

PS: It's also compatible with the other romhack where you only have to press A to swap weapons instead of having a wheel (akin to Gunstar Heroes).

So, I'll try doing Sin & Punishment Wii with proper Wiimote controls.

Also I'll try getting the "true" ending that requires doing the game as Isa and Kashi together after you've finished it twice with each characters.

Furthermore I'd like to ask if I should try doing Guardian Heroes and Silhouette Mirage on the Saturn or I should rather do their respective re-releases on XBLA and PSX respectively?

I'm also tempted to do the GBA games soon.

We have to admit that Treasure is one of the video game companies that were ahead of the time and that was demonstrated in the era of Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and those that came after. but most of that Treasure's games were hit after hit and they also got the most out of the Mega Drive/Genesis hardware and the subsequent games looked like a next-gen game technically and graphically speaking.

I've "finished" the game until I discovered that there's a post game but I have 0 idea how to do it.
Thanks to the World of Longplay videos I could find some of the hidden characters (even if you max out your stats before the end of the game it's useful) and where to go since after you've completed your second playthrough
you have an adventure game-esque path (like going back to Dr. Tenma's abandoned home or an archaeological site) to advance in the story therefore enabling the very final chapter of the game and the true last boss.

It's not expected to see that kind of stuff in a handheld arcade game but I appreciate the idea.

I believe it's using the same engine as that Tiny Toons beat'em up game released a bit before.

It was a decent game for the GBA

But I'm still confused about it being a sequel yet feels more like a remake of the game with new features regarding the pseudo Mode 7 of the GBA.

I mean a run 'n gun cannot be too different (Metal Slug 2 and Contra III were a lot like their predecessors) yet I feel like they could've offered a new kind of plot.

Also apparently if you play in Easy you get a joke ending, Normal mode has little to no story but Hard mode is where you get to know the actual story, explaining everything which is a bit clunky because I wanted to know the whereabouts of the gems.

Astro Boy having the true end with the post game could be understandable since you could change levels but there it's done in a weird way.

I'll probably try hard mode but the controls are trickier than the original.

Did Buster's Bad Dream (it's like Astro Boy was the spiritual successor to it since the beat'em up gameplay is similar) but was really short (since it's a release year game meant for a younger audience). (Funfacts : it was one of my first emulated GBA game which lagged and had no music).

Hajime No Ippo was a nice technical game that is very similar to Punch-Out but once again is very short and made for multiplayer. The sprites are really good and the animations were smooth.

The remaining games aren't clicked on:

The 3DS games will be a bit trickier to play but I think I could manage.

I'm not sure I'll finish them all by the end of the year but I hope I'll at least complete every of their games from the 32/64-Bits era made in the 90's.

The PS2/GameCube and DS libraries will mostly be for later.
