Musical Instrument/Guitar Thread?

I think youre in luck!

Oh shit, I think those may be it. Hell yeah, I'll look into them since this lists the product number. Hopefully I can find some from within Canada; importing and ordering it from out of the country may be ridiculously expensive right now.

Epiphone - what a mess! Some of those Korean ones from the 90s are fantastic if you ever run into one.
It's weird because my Epiphone SG that was half the price plays absolutely fine, never given me issues and plenty of other Epiphone's I've played also seemed perfectly fine, both new and old. Just bad luck unfortunately on the Les Paul. It played nice until the neck warped. I may steal it's pickups for something else at some point as they're actually really solid sounding; I think they're Probuckers, so just some PAF style copycats but they sounded tight.

I've resisted the gearbuying urge for a very long time now, but I've found myself slowly window shopping on Reverb on and off again unfortunately, mainly just pedals. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect fuzz, but I'm far too picky and think I'll never find it because of that.

I’ve been playing guitar and bass since 2006. Added piano and drums more recently and a couple of other instruments like the Appalachian dulcimer, the xaphoon and the taishogoto over the years. Always enjoyed playing in bands immensely but I never managed to make a career out of it. Two of those bands definitely had the potential for that but they both broke up right before we reached critical mass due to interpersonal conflicts. Tried to go the soundtrack/sound design route for video games and indie films for a while but never got a foot in the door long enough to get a seat at the table. I’ve been doing it as a hobby exclusively since. I’m not bitter about it, it allows me to focus only on the music that I want to make personally, but still, it would have been fun. Not for the money necessarily (as if there was still money in it) but for the opportunities and experiences that could have opened up. I had a couple of enjoyable gigs over the years though, my favorite memory being a show in Osaka where I played prepared guitar to a Butoh dancer‘s performance. She was way cool. Sweet old funny lady. When she danced it was like she was possessed.

I haven’t played any shows in a couple of years. When I had my inner coming-out and started my ongoing transition I was having serious problems how I should even present myself onstage. I’ve only recently entangled that big ball of issues. Next show‘s in April. I’m going as myself. Probably in a dress (if you’re confused I’m transfemme actually. I came up with my silly user name like 15 years ago and never got to use it then. When I joined the forums I couldn’t help myself despite the contradiction)

I have a couple of guitars (ok, many…) but this has been my favorite one for a couple of years now. My workhorse for several different genres.
I’m mostly playing it into a Bugera tube amp through a couple of different effects. WhammyDT, two loopers, reverb and an overdrive are the mainstays but I switch it up a lot. When I do a noise or drone set I tend to use more pedals. With more straightforward rock stuff I usually just use the overdrive.
I have a sanctuary of sorts for crappy used guitars that I got off friends or band mates for cheap or for free. I use a couple of sonic youth-esque odd tunings so the wealth of guitars comes in handy. The squier strat I bought off the singer of my first real band is low key one of the comfiest guitars I ever played though and was my main axe for everything from world music to black metal until I got my jazzmaster.

My advice - get a modeler. It ended my tone quest bc I can just use a preset or tweak the amps, pedals, even the down to the mic placement and the tubes in the amp (even tubes that arent compatible IRL).

I have an Axe FX 3, but some of my friends have the FM3 and the presets and the program are the same. (the FX3 has more RAM for like double amp setups, etc)

Matteo Mancuso is an excellent player, and he uses a Helix Line 6, which is cheaper.

I’m pro modelers completely but I don’t really trust line 6 stuff. Maybe they’ve become better recently but every piece of line 6 hardware I or a band mate owned over the years has unceremoniously crapped out and I’ve seen it fail in professional band settings a lot too. It’s fun to mess around with but I personally wouldn’t trust it on stage ever.

I wouldnt know. I never used one. I bought a Fractal and then I stopped buying.
