Since it's the Monaco GP currently, I thought it'd be a good idea to make a motorsport thread. Post your favourite cars, tracks, overtakes or anything else related to motor racing.

That includes motorbikes, despite me not tagging it (I reached the tag limit).

I would like to watch a motorsport that people race with interesting-looking cars like these lol:

It has many models that I love a lot but too bad it would be too long to machinegun them here lol.

You might like a lot of the old IMSA GTO cars or JGTC cars from the 90s I feel. Race-cars from the 80s-90s in general do have a very angular look.

Results from the Spanish Grand Prix today. If this were 30 years ago, Verstappen would've gotten a slam dunk disqualification for what he did to George Russell today. Also predictably a McLaren 1-2, not flawless since Lando lost a position at the start, but probably one of the team's best races in terms of driver performance the past couple of years. I'm gutted for Andreas Antonelli, it's strange how the Mercedes works team is suffering more with engine reliability than the Mercedes customer teams (McLaren & Williams). Stellar race from Hulkenberg in the Sauber to get up into 5th from 15th, definitely one of the most underrated drivers on the grid.

To anyone else that watched, any thoughts?

Spent the weekend at American Speedfest 12, Got to watch the NASCAR Euro event.
Thoroughly loved every second of it. My friend even got signed autographs and pictures with Number 21 Jack Davidson.

It's a damn shame motorsports isn't as accessible in Europe as it is in America. (ticket price wise)
I love watching banger racing/BRISCA but it really does jump from grass routes family racing straight to multi-millionaire Formula's with very little in-between.
Unless you're into motorbikes then you're in the green lol That's way more affordable to regularly attend.

I know here, we have the British Touring Car Championship which is more accessible price wise to the working class. I have been up to Knockhill a few times, it's a brilliant track. The only possible downside is the rain but I've accepted it as part of the experience.

I found some photos from back in 2012 on my Google Drive.

I managed to regularly attend races at United Downs raceway in Cornwall from 2022-2023 when I was deployed to that end of the UK.
But after being relocated to London and the Portsmouth it's been a pain to attend race meetings.

I'm excited to return to Brands Hatch for BTRC (British Truck racing) in November, then when I leave the Military later in the year I can hopefully go back to following Spedeworth circuits.
Maybe check out the Isle of Man TT too in 2026.

Touring cars are super cool, same with Rally!
But I lean towards oval racing as I personally find it more enjoyable to watch IRL. You can always see everything. I would love to check out a more off BRC but the idea of sat at a corner or straight waiting for a car to zoom past and the returning to just listening to the radio may not be worth travel & admission.
Still, if the TT goes well who knows. I might warm up to that format of racing.

How did I miss this thread. I've been living and eating motorsport this month, with all the insane endurance races going on! We've already had the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Nurburgring 24, the Pikes Peak hillclimb, a couple of F1 races (it's RAWE CEEK!), Nascar, Indycar, MotoGP... Hell the GTWC Spa 24h is this weekend too! There's just so much to watch.

Since it hasn't been posted about already, let me drop the highlights of Nurburgring:

This event in my city was known as the fastest road race in the world. They wont give the insurance out
now to cover the race due to how dangerous it is.

Holy shit you live in Ulster? Cool! Those road going GPs are absolutely insane. Crazy that the Isle of Man TT is still allowed to exist on modern days. I think this year's was the first one without major deaths in a while? It's insane that people die doing it almost every year.

Anyway, on the track racing side of things, this weekend we have the GTWC 24 Hours of Spa, and the F1 Austrian GP! Excited for both of them, these are some of my favorite tracks. Right now, the GT2 pre-race is going on, and set your reminders for the proper 24h full race:

The northwest 200 is the biggest road race in northern ireland now. The TT will always exist as long as 20 men are brave enough to ride.

F1 Qualifying at Austria was pretty nice, but I was more busy watching the race start at the 24 Hours of Spa! Great GT racing is going on right now, in between the inevitable periods of yellow flags and safety cars... I'm still surprised we didn't have too many of those in the 24h of Nurburgring and Le Mans ealier this month.
