Here's a game for ya.

Simply called : Takashi's challenge.
Known for its unreasonable gameplay requirements and has been negatively received in retrospect due to its difficult challenges.

I think it was primarily because it felt like a step back from the DS version in regards to kart variety, but don't quote me on that (it's my reason for disliking it at least).
Is this about the lack of a mission mode? no snaking perhaps?

Crash WoC and Mario Kart Wii are both fun games. It's not a DMC2 level drop in quality, and even that's a fun game(ish).

I'd say most unfairly hated game off the dome used to be GTA IV, but I think opinions have changed over time more positively

Not on the list but PoP Warrior Within comes to mind. Yes it tried hard to be Edgy but still it has it's good points. And the devs even took some to the Two Thrones which was pretty good as well.
it was my first PoP game, back on the PS2! I knew about Sands of Time, but didn't get to play it when it was new, but when I got my console, this was one of my first games on it. Quite enjjoyed that one and Two Thrones.

Gen 3 Pokemon.
Half of the map is just water, yeah, so? Critics rarely mention why it's a bad thing.
so. many. wingulls. and tentacools.

Crash Stopped after 3.

Last of Us Part 2 (no drama please, I know the story is trash but the gameplay is fine)
I'd argue that the gameplay of both TLOU are generic narrative TPS in a generic zombie apocalypse setting.

Even if Sunshine had many issues (and could be the weakest 3D Mario game) I firmly believe that there is no really bad Mario game (aside from weird spinoff not made by Nintendo EAD).

I'd add my opinion but Atari E.T. is far from being the worst game on the hardware, it was merely used as a scapegoat for the Crash when there were many other bad games around.

In fact it's mostly infamous for the cartridges buried in the desert than the game itself.

From the ones available (which I’ve played) I chose Mario Kart Wii. I didn’t know it was particularly disliked aside from kart variety as some have said already, and that it’s kind of unfairly seen as broken because most of the content you see nowadays are speedrunners doing their thing and claiming it’s broken based on that, but that’s not really what the game really is like.

Final Fantasy X-2.

I remember people abhorred X-2 on launch but it has one of the best job systems in the franchise. Story may be a bit lacking compared to X but it explores really interesting themes and its a great follow up from where X left off. Also I had a really big crush on Yuna.

About those on the poll, I never knew Sunshine was hated, I tought people just ignored it.

I feel that the problem with DK 64 is the fact it was the start of the downfall of the mascot collectathom. They really went out of hand with this one. Does it deserves hate? No, but I can see why many people would blame it for killing the collectathom genre.

Last of Us 2 gets more hate because of the people who made it rather then the game itself. If it's justified or not, I don't really care

Do people even hate Mario Sunshine anymore? Anyway I think Final Fantasy 8 and Chrono Cross gets too much hatred.

Final Fantasy XIII

Starfox Adventures

And FFX-2 as well!

I do, though I don't think it's an objectively bad game or anything. I just can't stand all the squirt gun nonsense, and I really dislike how the entire game is designed around it. It doesn't really feel anything like a Mario game to me at all. I feel the same way about Odyssey, too.

Something just aint right when the most fun in that game is when you don't have the squirt gun

That's understandable. I just see a lot more love for it than when it was new is why I asked.

What makes it so special when Resident Evil 4 popularised the TPS style of gameplay?
Well for starters it plays quite different than RE4 but I'll just invite you to play TloU1 on Grounded if you ever get the chance. While the overly cinematic pacing can be detrimental I think when you play it on Grounded you are so relieved to have some down time cuz this game don't fuck around. Story/Characters/Plot are all okay to me but truly, TloU on Grounded is something special.

Not sure, I just personally dislike it because there are no unique karts.

I still don't know why Dark Souls 2 is hated
Probably because the overall design feels somewhat loose compared to 1 and 3, and there is the fact enemies are a limited resource unless you make the whole game even harder on purpose.
