Wanted to bring this thread back, so I'll ask a few rapid fire questions to you all!
Do you have a favorite village/hub area in the series? If so, why is that one your favorite?
Additionally, seeing as the series went through quite a few changes with the latest generations, what are your thoughts on the QoL features in the modern games when compared to something like MHFU or MHGU?
Plus, how have you all been enjoying Wilds now that it's been about two months since its launch?
I'm asking these from the perspective of a Rise player who has been taking their time in enjoying the post-game content, but have not yet played the other games extensively at the moment!
Okay, yet another thread I should have found way sooner but only saw today. I'm a massive MonHun fan, it's one of my top 5 game franchises of all time, and I've played over 1,000 hours of MH4U alone!
Okay, my favorite village has to be Yukumo. Pokke and Bherna and even Kamura are all very comfy, and all the villages of 4U have my nostalgia, but I really like Yukumo. It's just the one I keep coming back to. I really don't like the cold, or else Pokke would potentially win out, that soundtrack is so soothing.
About modern QoL, I wasn't fully onboard with all the changes on World already, being an oldgen hunter. Honestly, Rise is the perfect modern MonHun game, or at least as close to how I'd like the series to be modernized. I'd only want it to be a little bit less streamlined, like having to actually use hot and cold drinks, and paintballs to track monsters instead of always seeing them in the map. Stuff like that really helps reinforce the whole feeling of "being prepared for a hunt" that I enjoyed so much in the old games.
I haven't played Wilds, only the demo/beta. And I'll be honest, in some aspects it's really good and in others it's honestly even more disappointing than World, somehow. Apart from the massive performance and optimization issues, the game is just really barebones, lacking in content and difficulty, while making multiplayer needlessly convoluted. I genuinely think I might even not buy this game eventually. Meanwhile, I've enjoyed Rise and Sunbreak so damn much, that I bought the game TWICE, on the Switch and PC, and I'm considering buying Sunbreak again to have it on the Switch.
If you started with Rise, welcome! I could recommend you try GenPEAK Ultimate, if you're already on the Switch. If you're not, I recommend you emulate Portable3rd, or 3U/4U on the 3DS. They're all great oldgen games that aren't too hard on the progression.
