Any fans here? I saw the show mentioned in another thread but thought I'd make one dedicated to the show. I call myself a fan as I love the catchy theme song, the design and concept of a ladybig superhero with a yoyo, and I haven't come across a villain design so far I didn't like or found creative... yet I stopped at the beginning of season 2 as other things overtook my life, so I don't know if I even have the right to call myself a fan xD

Oh right! I watched the movie too! Peak cinema! I loved how Marinette actually grew as a character!

Then there are also the two videogames made by GameMill. Unfortunately everything they touch turn to garbage, and from what I can gather from screenshots and reviews plus the 10 min I put into Rise of the Sphinx it doesn't seem like Ladybug was spared. But have anyone played and liked them? I mean I sometimes like games that are objectively bad.

Here in Denmark there was also a magazine in circulation for a hot minute. I think it ran for a year tops and I managed to snag two issues before it apparently stopped its run. Sad times. You dare to like something, then it gets pulled...

I enjoyed what I saw of it. I saw up to season 3 I want to say during 2020. I heard about Chloe and definitely felt cheated out of a redemption arc for her. She wasn't my favorite character, but I have a soft spot for redeemed villains and enjoy seeing them become heroes

Im a fan remember Discovering years ago now when it first came out and man did it take to long for seasons 2 but yeah I love the show for sure.
I think that was it! I was salty that they took so long with season 2, the reasoning being they wanted to make s2 and s3 back to back so that s3 wouldn't take so long after s2... but that just resulted in both seasons taking forever because of how time works. So when s2 finally did come out I refrained from watching it out of spite :P I really need to get back into it though.

I watched a 1½ hour video on YouTube of a guy who did nothing but pummel the later seasons, but oddly enough what he showcased only made me wanna dive back in xD

As to how I discovered it. I don't remember the year, but it was through a friend I used to visit.

Ah yeah I remember hearing that Chloe got cheated badly out of a redemption arc, allegedly because Thomas Asstruck wanted her to continue being this irredeemable shithead who is responsible for 70% of all akumatizations, making her essentially a plot mcguffin as she is the one giving Ladybug work.

That, and I heard that he based her on someone he didn't like, which fuelled his stance on her being irredeemable but I don't know how true that is or if it's just hearsay.

Regardless, I'm totally with you on loving previous villains who get redeemed. Dr. Stone is full of them. There is just something about someone who was previously against you, now working with you. I won't even use a term as superfluous as "they have seen the light", but something made them change their ideals... or at least made them realize their ideals weren't ideal.

To return to Dr. Stone, Tsukasa had an ideal that he only wanted the young and pure of heart revived, a stance Senku (mc) was opposed to because he wants to revive everyone without discrimination. After he is beaten (spoiler) in season two he comes around and joins Senku, and while he is still opposed to the world that Senku strives to recreate, he ultimately still helps out anyway.

A shithead like Chloe coming around, I would have loved that idea. It actually reminds me of a similar snobby character in the game Another Code R, where there is this chick who has an attitude with Ashley (mc). But after you snoob around and discover her backstory and find out why she is how she is and later confront her about it, she comes around and becomes one of your best friends, to the point that where I previously didn't wanna be anywhere near her... at the post-game when Ashley needs to go home, I hoped that, of ALL the characters I had met along the way, that this girl would at least come to say goodbye... and she did.

I liked the shows earlier seasons but then the writing started to get a little...weird.

I love that show way more than I'm willing to admit, pretty much from day one.

It has a very engaging storyline and a relatable villian whom nonetheless manages to be very hateable. It's great.

I really wish we got to see the original anime version, though:

Weird how?

Ah yes, I still cry myself to sleep. I read that they abandoned the idea because 2D animation was too expensive and that quick action with a polkadotted protagonist would hurt viewers' eyes... and that's just bs.

Well it was fine at first but then Chloe's redemption arc got aborted and that's when the trouble started. Turns out the creator of the show based her off a girl who bullied him in school and when Chloe was becoming more popular than Marinette he didn't like that so he sabotaged her redemption arc. Also, apparently, his inspiration for Marinette is that she's the daughter him and his ex-fiancé would've had if their relationship didn't tank so he's weirdly protective of Marinette as a character.

Ah yeah I see what you mean. I mean sabotaging Chloe is one thing, which I had heard about, and that's just petty. Like you have a good story going, and then just because the audience starts to like a character who (according to you) isn't meant to be liked, you sabotage that character in order to "stay in control" and essentially manipulate the audience, at the cost of a good narrative.

Basing Marinette on the fictive daughter you wish you had... I mean the internet is super quick to label everything as creepy and weird, but in this case I sorta relate to him. Being almost 34 and childless, writing a story that stars the daughter I wish I had, is something I could've easily seen myself do.

Afterall, when you write stories you are the mastermind of everyting that happens, and basing Marinette on his not-to-be daughter, means he brought her into existence through the power of fiction, if you catch me. It is both a bit sad and touching.

If the author wasn’t a neckbeard we could’ve had a steady stream of good seasons, that said, the first seasons were amazing and probably the only good thing to come out of France. /j

My fav was the blue haired boy, I forgot his name but he was really sweet, kinda hurt to see him bitched so bad lol
