Metal Slader Glory: Director's Cut fan translation released

The Famicom version was already on my (long) list, so maybe I'll play this one instead whenever I get to it. Apparently it has some extra scenes, but I don't know if it's a significant amount or not.

Ohhh, this looks neat. This was on the NES right?
Yeeessss!! There's a couple of youtube vids that show off some of the technical graphics for some of the cutscenes - Really impressive stuff for a late NES game . I don't know if the snes version does some of the same things, but getting one of these versions finally translated is still pretty frickin' cool.

Famicom detective 2 had some of the coolest animations on the SNES and one of the scariest endings for it's time - Metal Slader Glory should be on your list too.

FINALLY! It has always bothered me that we got a translation for the Famicom version but never the director's cut. I've been waiting for this for years.

Yay~! Cool news indeed. Always wanted to experience this game, but been waiting for SupaFami version. MSG DC was the last game that was released on Super Famicom back then.

So does this officially render the FC version obsolete, or is there still reason to play the FC version even when the Director's Cut exists?

Oohh... But this is the snes version! Nice! Really unexpected. But that's a new romhack site? Never heard of it before. Are we sure it's not a scam site, and you're making me download a Trojan virus on my phone? 😬

Anybody else get garbled text when adding the MSU-1 patch after the translation?

can this be uploaded? i dont have a windows laptop to patch up the rom at the moment.

thanks to the translator and coder for making this possible!

Same here, mate. The music insertion didn't seem to work, either. Any luck getting it to work? I tried first doing the text patch and then the MSU patch, but I guess I'll try MSU first then text next.

I tried the MSU patch in Snes9x and the music change worked, but I also get glitched text.

Has anyone tried to get it to work with an FXPAK PRO? I didn't apply the English Patch and only the MSU-1 for testing purposes, and get no music. Then I try it in Snes9x for Testing Purposes, and it works... MSU-1 works on my FXPAK, too, I just tested the MSU-1 Road Blaster port to make sure.

Did you also find the pcm pack off the archivedotorg site?
The NES music seems to work fine with that, but I seem to get glitched text when combining the translation with the MSU patch no matter what.

Wish there was an MSU-1 section and MD+ section on the repo.

I tried applying the MSU-1 hack first and then applying the patch.
What I got was a black screen after the first two screens in the intro, with the company logos etc.
Seems mixing both patches for now is a No-no, we're gonna have to wait for a merged patch.
Wish there was an MSU-1 section and MD+ section on the repo.
That makes us two.
Even if the PCMs aren't allowed, it's still a bit of a hassle having to figure out which patches jive well with one another; Spike and co. do God's Work by hosting pre-patched ROMs with functional patch combinations.

Are the english passwords listed somewhere ? I quit the game on the way back from the first colony you visit to go and see if the mechanic has now returned and can't remember what the password was exactly. It was something like "let's go and see the mechanic"...

I don't know the others, but the debug patch seems to work fine on top of the English translation... Then you can use "Let's debug★" in password entry to activate debug mode.

Does the debug menu allow you to jump directly to certain chapters ?

Finished it earlier today, and really liked it! Despite a few things I didn't like about it, it has definitely become one of my favorite games of this genre.

Btw, I suggest you select sleep when the game asks you, then write down your password. You can then select 'wake up' to keep playing, cause sleeping longer option will require you to reset and input password to resume.

The passwords are case sensitive and usually begin with "Let's", so don't forget the capital L and the '

After beating the game and resetting, I notice 6 green shapes on my title screen. One of the shapes is now filled in, and I'm wondering if I need to make different decisions and see them through until the end in order to fill in the other green shapes? Would be curious if anyone knows or figures this out.

Did you take note of the different passwords by any chance ? ::biggrin

The passwords I have are further into the game.

1) Let's Brainstorm
2) Let's go get her
3) Let's pick Azusa up
[Same spot as 2) listing, however I choose to 'not report' a certain incident. This does change some dialogue
4) Let's return to the base
5) Let's meet with the group
-Last password the game gave me
