And straight up I think this is a terrible game. Let's get into why I flatout hate this game, With first off being the annoying Alia text the game forces you to read and the text isn't even anything important it's just stuff you already know or the most obvious text the game makes you already learn and it gets even worse with Alia text that can interrupt gameplay such at this spot in burn dinorex.

Where at this spot, Alia text can interrupt your gameplay which can cause your death. Alia text isn't the only thing terrible about this game because some of this game's collectibles are nightmare to get, with some of the worst ones being Falcon Armor Headpart where you have you collect eight blue energy spheres in one go or else you have redo the whole thing and believe me that's not even the worst of it because there's Falcon Armor Bodypart which you cannot get on your first go you have to get beat Tidal Whale first then get the replay the damn stage again and deal with the slow as hell sub-boss which drags down the pace of the stage and combined that with Alia text makes makes this stage a contender for one of the worst video game levels in one of video games, and this isn't the only stage I ended up replaying three times because Shining Firefly have to be replayed 3 times for get everything, First for the boss weapon and the Falcon armor parts then for the Heart tank as Gaea Armor X then again because Gaea Armor X can't use special weapons meaning that I have to switch to a different armor for the EX Tank. If you think that's bad enough just wait until you get to Dark Necrobat's stage where you need to very precise with the F-Laser in order to get the first and the rage that makes me rage is that Dr. Light literally doesn't tell you what function does the headpart do.
dbc2d4b4c8c9ff44365053541a79db1e_7497057022212281926.webp

Which let me rage out on this upgrade, I'VE LITERALLY DIED MULTIPLE TIMES AFTER FAILING MULTIPLE TIMES USING THE DAMN F-LASER TO GET THE STUPID HEADPART AND THE GAME DOESN'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT TELLING YOU WHAT IT FUCKING DOESN'T AT ALL WHICH ONLY LEADS ME TO THINK THAT THIS PART OF THE DAMN GAEA IS FUCKING USELESS. I WASTED MY FUCKING TIME FOR THIS WORTHLESS HEADPART, WHICH NOT ONLY I NEED FOR THE FULL ARMOR SET AND ALSO I CAN GET THE REST OF THE HEART TANKS AS X. All this to say fuck this upgrade in particular.

So moving from that, we now get to this game's story while it's cool that you play as Both X and Zero during the main campaign the game has a large issue which I'm now getting into where the ending you get is up to Luck. What do I mean by this well, first you collect four parts of the enigma cannon cannon on the left then that fails most likely (side note the enigma cannon can succeed but that's very rare for that to happen) then you get the space shuttle where's that is up to luck. Which I got another rant about coming up about now. This leads to one of the worst balancing the game has, WHERE IF YOU PLAY AS ZERO EXCLUSIVELY YOU CAN LOOSE ZERO THROUGH NO FAULT OF YOUR OWN ALL BECAUSE OF RNG YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER, AND THE ONLY WAY TO CHANGE THE OUTCOME IS TO RELOAD YOUR SAVE FILE BEFORE THE SPACE SHUTTLE FAILS OR OTHERWISE YOU'RE STUCK AS X DOING A MASSIVE GRIND SESSION TO GET MANY UPGRADES TO SURVIVE THE FINAL FEW LEVELS ALL BECAUSE THE SHITTY DECISION TO MAKE WHICH ENDINGS YOU GET BASED ON LUCK.

As for thar portion of the game, I find the bosses to be pretty terrible for the simple fact that a lot of them have large Health Bars such as shadow Devil and Rangda Bangda W. There's also a X vs Zero fight which happens but that fight happens for completely idiotic reasons in the good ending scenario.

Also It's highly recommended that you get the Ultimate Armor and Black Zero in this stage because the final level is quite atrocious. Which I'll get to with one last rant I have about this game.

X5's final level is quite atrocious, because GET THIS IT'S NOT ONLY A MANDATORY BOSS RUSH IN THE SAME LEVEL AS THE FINAL BOSS SIGMA HIMSELF, BUT THE BOSSES ALSO HAS THE LONG HEALTH BARS TO DRAG OUT THE PACE OF THE GAME. THE ONLY WAY TO TO SPEED THIS UP IS TO SPAM THE NOVA STRIKE AT THE BOSS RUSH SECTION.

After you get that atrocious part done you Sigma where the first phase isn't too only then cones the second phase where the final boss is just a PNG.

Yeah that's about this games sucks, The terrible presentation alongside the terrible decisions such the Endings being RNG dependant, the item collecting route being terrible, the slow Alia text dragging down the game. Combined all that into one of the worst games I've ever played. So yeah that's about it see ya.

Side Note: I just remembered that X Dive had X5's final boss in the game and it's literally better than the one in the original game presentation wise.

Maybe I oughta skip this one then? I've played all of the classics so far, as well as X1. The problem is I want to play the Zero series as well.

Is plot that important?

You can play the zero games just fine, it’s fairly disconnected despite sharing similar cast. The X games get pretty barebones plot, zero series wasnt even written with X6-8 in mind.
Anyways, X5 is not that bad but I wouldn’t recommend it strongly either. You won’t lose sleep if you skip it and play the zero games.
Better to get to ZX too.

I'll just play the rest of X up to X4 then. I played 2-6 so far of the classics. I have a lot of collections to finish.

FR the zero series can be said as a standalone title. You don't need to play X to understand the situation on zero nor to enjoy the games.

Tbh i played X just because i wanna see how are the relationship between X and zero lol.

Since i play zero first then X later

I can't help but think of X5 as X3's spiritual successor in the sense that all the flaws that plagued X3—terrible level design obsessed with slowing the player down for no good reason, difficulty uber-skewed toward armored X, gameplay bloated with features that are badly executed at best and detrimental at worst, too many collectibles to keep track of, arbitrary restrictions on playing as Zero—are present in X5 as well, except even worse somehow.

X6 got it worse. You can tell the game was tested using X ultimate armor and got an "ok" even if it was a mess

The more X series you play the better, except X7, and the more impactful the Zero series' narrative becomes when you get around to it - even if they are disconnected.

X5 is a very solid action platformer despite being a regression from it's predecessor in some areas. And the soundtrack really rocks. The music on those final stages, among other tracks, are amazing.

Try for yourself, if you don't enjoy something you can skip it, but don't skip something based on someone else's opinion.

X4 could be the best game of the X saga if not for being the most easy one of the entire Megaman saga (you can beat it by brute force your way like a Sonic game)

X7 was more a bad test of the 3D jump for the new gen console that ended bad.... like really bad (i will never see X armor "glide" other than a piece of paper falling down really slow)

X8 DID go back to the classic X formula and is a solid entry. But all the damage was already done and Capcom lost interest to continue

And they lost interest very easy, only the Zero saga and Battle Network got an ending (Star force doesnt count since there was plans for another game. It got a good ending, but with a game nuked like ZX)

Yeah, in special:

Having finished X3 today, it's a solid game not an around excellent game such as X1, X2 or X4 but it's solid enough to stand on it's own, I liked the collectibles aside from the strange way you get the golden armor and that you'll have to avoid getting the red capsule chips to obtain the golden armor. Although the level design is solid the only drags that drag down the pace of the game are the Doppler stages specially with this spike section where the platforms rise up slowly.

Aside from that this game is solid B Rank, that's about it see ya.
Fun Fact: I had a X6 review finished but I've bothered posting it here because I stopped playing after completing the Mavericks stages and wasn't having a fun time playing through it so I opted to play X3 instead and finished.

As a useless fun fact: X3 used to have fruit snacks as seen here in the MegaMan X Legacy Collection, though these were discounted for a long time.

Congratulations for beat X3!
For me is one of the most hard MMX games! So, what's your favorite song from this game?

I'm literally the biggest fan of Mega Man & Bass on this site, and I totally forgot about this.

Damn, I really fell off.
Happens to the best of us, I thought I was the biggest bully fan but I’m finding out about a lot of beta dialogue I never knew about.

I personally love X3 althouht it has some really bad issues.
Wonder how those gummies tasted like, and how much will that pvc figure cost now.

I wonder if the new Megaman game will add something new to the gameplay

I really want that Capcom finally move on with the Megaman goes to petty ass-chin only for him to do the "so sorry, i wont do it again (yeah right)" pose

But thats impossible. The most we may get are unlockable Protoman and Bass (maybe DLC, like Roll)
