Mega Man Megathread

I would argue that if most players can't figure out the right way to play the game from the game itself, then the game is poorly designed.
that's fair but between the death ray towers that force you to dash, the door that makes you dash to get out of the way, and the giant scorpion bot that forces you to dash, i feel like the intro stage does make at least a reasonable attempt to drill it into the player's head.

My biggest gripe about that game was that X was locked until you fucking 100% the entire thing!

Yeah, but consider that dashing in MMX7 feels like shit.

that's completely reasonable, as i said i wouldn't consider it good, just overhated.

Okay, but where are all these people coming from anyway? Is there some kind of dedicated Mega Man X7 Defense Squad or something?
What baffles me is how does a counter culture get born from playing a game slightly faster
Revolutionary method of play

Actually, you only need 64 rescued Reploids or all main stages beaten for X to be unlocked.

Yeah, although the game is a little bit enjoyable with N's mod, and it fixes a few gripes I had with the game

Some of them are pain to rescue though, at least I tried and assumed you have to do all of them...

i only came across one other x7 defender in my time on the internet, sorry if what i said has been said a thousand times before

Actually there’s a really easy way to do it. Press start to open up the menu, head down, press return to title, click yes then close the game.

Can someone help me with this? I'm on a mission to play every Mega man game ever! Including spinoffs and Japan only games that were translated. Anyone have an order and/or version recommendations?

There are any differences between the original games and some collections like the ones on PS2? Like some quality of life features etc.?

I've already played through Mega man X, X2 and X3 so far, but I wouldn't mind playing them again ::megadancebaby

Well I think you can just search mega man and all series will come.
Write them and mark which one you finished.
Mega man have a lot of games it's
Why you want to play them all?

I'm interested in knowing more about the lore and timeline of the games, and I love the art and the character design of the series! So I decided to play them all

Mega man is also quite hard, so I was thinking of beating every game and unlocking every secret as a challenge.

Have you played zero on gba? It was hard and I think a good start.

I would recommend following release order.
You'll learn more about the lore in the same manner as most of everyone who's played.
But lore wise, my recommended order:

Adventure
Classic 9 - 11
X 1-3
Xtreme 1-2
X 4-5
Zero 1-4
ZX & Advent
Legends 1-2
Misadventures of Tron Bonne

X 6-8 ( separate continuity )
Command Mission

GB World games ( separate continuity )

Alternate Timeline:
Battle Network 1-3
Network Transmission
EXE Wonderswan
Battle Chip Challenge
EXE Battle Chip Stadium
Battle Network 4-6
Star Force 1-3
EXE Operation Shooting Srar

Re-imagining:
Powered Up
Maverick Hunter X

Elder God Tier:
Panic Shot
DOS games
Wily & Light Rockboard
Soccer
Battle & Chase
Pachislot
Mobile Java exclusive games ( between this and DOS I don't know which is worst )
Gold Empire ( jesus wept )
Strategy ( might be better than Gold Empire, I sure as hell won't find out )
Xover
X Dive

Omg thank you so much for this list. That helps me a LOT!

I didn't even know about some of these. The Panic Shot is such a cool discovery for me bc I also love pinball, but I have no idea where I could possibly find one around.

Mega man soccer looks very funny too.

Only thing you need to know about Mega Man lore is that it's terrible and makes no sense.

Just play games in whatever order you want.

X6-X8 and Mega Man World series are not separate continuity. Don't make things up.
