Media that scared you as a kid

This dude from the Peter Pan and the Pirates TV show was the first thing from a TV show to ever give me nightmares.

Also this horrifying wraith looking thing from the weird vaguely Bible themed puppet tv show we had on vhs traumatized me and my siblings for years.

Wild Gunman on the NES. That shit freaked me out. Especially the "YOU LOST" screen (with that creepy, eerie music).
I remember watching my sister play back when we were kids, and damn if I wasn't terrified. Still get tingles to this day.

Those old demon face edits. Big, gaping mouth and all. Those pics turned me so paranoid I coundn't stay home alone. After school, if noone was home, I pretended I forgot my keys and sat in front of the door, and waited for one of my parents to come home, haha.

Pretty much every time a TV channel would stop transmission and just let that colored screen along with a constant buzzing sound. That thing scares me to this day. ::lol

It is rather unnerving

I won't be using any pics but I got a list.

The Brave Little Toaster yes a movie about a toaster has 2 scenes. One features the Toaster having a nightmare firefighter clown that gets a close up to tell the viewer to run and then sprays hose that's water turns into forks that fall into the toaster and shorts the toaster with loud zaps and black out. And towards the end there is car compactor that nearly crushes a man after a musical number that showed it crushing cars with ease prior.

Courage the Cowardly dog had 2 instances you can look up with multiple results of the same stance. Return the Slab and You're not a farmer. Pretty easy

And I really hate how this film got me but Boogey Man had a scary opening but going to to find out what made is scary to me as a child and disappoint just how goofy some of the acting and the ending is.

The Groke (Buka in polish version) and Hattifatteners from Moomins

Cobra and "devil" Jaffar in Alladin final scene.

And from exclusively Polish productions - the march of the wolves from the film Akademia Pana Kleksa (Mr. Blot Academy)

the original doom used to scare me as a kid, especially the pinky

Hearing those coming for you and trying to eat you up = o

Anyone watch that ghostbuster's cartoon episode where the ghost went around taking people's eye balls? wtf was that shit O_o Not just blinding them, literally taking the fucking eye balls out of the sockets! I didn't run out of the room or anything, but I was terrified ;_;

I was terrified of bathrooms for years (especially the shower) after seeing the Shining when I was little. I was also pretty terrified of mirrors for most of my life after seeing "The Gate" as a kid; I'm still pretty creeped out by them, actually...

I recall Jim Carrey's version of the Grinch frightened me as a kid.

In terms of video games, I remember seeing the opening to Diablo 1 at a friend's house, which creeped me out. I think it was the general atmosphere that scared me at the time.

As a kid, this scene from Aladdin where the cave of wonders rises from the sand scared me to my core.

Worse yet, it played behind the menu on our DVD of the movie. Apparently as a kid, I would always ask my parents to watch Aladdin.. and then run out of the room in fear when the menu started up.

Sally from A Nightmare before Christmas used to scare me when I was a little kid lmao. Funny how I ended up loving goth culture.

Also Mulan had two jumpscares in the Reflection song which always caught me off-guard.

Oh, also, this is really obvious because it's a horror movie, but I remember the local video rental shop I used to go as a kid had a big Ju-On 2 poster and it totally freaked me out.

Nowadays I like horror movies but had never seen this one until recently, when I watched all 4 japanese Ju-On movies back to back and now I love them hahah

The Adventures of Mark Twain always kinda freaked me out as a kid. Then again claymation has always been kinda iffy to me.

I get chills even talking about it, but there used to be this show I liked as a kid called Gullah Gullah Island, and I would watch it in the mornings. I used to have a lot of really bad reoccurring nightmares, and this show would set it off. I remember it was like The Ring, where there was this VHS tape I'd see with the markings "3114" on it. And it would just be the theme song to the show playing quietly in the background while whatever creepy shit was happening in the dream. It got so bad I remember writing about it in 3rd grade. I wish I still had that paper I wrote. I don't remember much from it these days, just the tape having those numbers on it.

This is goofy as hell btw, but it terrified me, and it still does thinking about some of the dreams I had involving it. It's more so the dream that was scary vs the show, the show was cool.
