Stasis... Argh! Fortunately, I never played a format or when stasis was played, but it seems incredibly annoying to play against I can only imagine the frustration and misery that card has caused from what others players have talked about

It costs a LOT and can be countered. If it goes off it's a big bomb, though.

Right, and also it can whiff bad. If you hit something like a counter spell, you spent 8 mana to do nothing which is a big risk. Only looks good/fun for multiplayer and casual. Nothing wrong with that though, I like cards like that, but yea, unless I am missing something, definitely not broken...

that's a great point. i love casual. i love playing any format where ppl can get together and play whatever cards they want.

I probably had a collection of cards worth over $1k and ended up giving it all away to my cousin's kid. I got tired of tripping over the tube filled with cards and even had an unopened commander deck of that 5 color dragon deck I never bothered to open which think it was going for $300 sealed on ebay at the time :P Me and my friends used to play a lot, started during Alara Reborn with the 60 card format, ended up going into EDH format a few years later before Wizards coined it as Commander. I still have like 8 commander decks I kept just in case I ever want to play again. My cousin's kid was in college playing with friends in MTG and just didn't have that many cards or funds to really have options and figured it why not just let him have fun while he's still young with this collection that is just collecting dust and getting in my way :P Trying to think which commander deck I have that is my favorite. Probably my five color deck

I have never played EDH, but it looks fun. Maybe I'll make one deck for fun.

Favorite for flavor? That's fair because if you know the arabian nights story it is a pretty cool and unique effect, and the art is . But if you like it in practice Long games can be fun, but I would just get pissed if someone played shahrazad against me I wonder what type of deck could abuse shahrazad

that's a good one. did they change the card and make it blue type? it seems some older version of that wasn't blue, or it was a different card.

oh yeah, slivers r a cool tribal that mtg has seemed to put something in to over the years, making them a constant online challenge.
i remember liking "the riptide" story and there is that one evil sliver that makes slivers invincible

well, i was going to show an old combo i did in mtga historian once, but id remember the name of the cards. :/

i had a few combos that were fun, it's been so long since i've played though.

well, i was going to show an old combo i did in mtga historian once, but id remember the name of the cards. :/

i had a few combos that were fun, it's been so long since i've played though.

oh yeah!!
i had this one deck in mtga that involved a loop of a 4 mana tamio plainswalker, that phyrexian tamio,
the 2 mana black creature that lets me put a copy of a spell i put from my g/yard to my hand,
and that 6 (?) mana turtle i can discard to fetch a permanent from my g/yard

filled with that "binding of the gods" or whatever g/b enchantment for 4, phyrexian scriptures,
and that 5 mana blue saga that lets me draw cards then has p/t equal to the number of cards in my hand
and sheholdreds(sp) edict

You are thinking of a different card, that version (future sight) was the first printing. Mystic snake is awesome! When my friends first got me into mtg, dissension was out and I always wanted a mystic snake because I liked the simic lore and made a UG deck, but they were too expensive But yea, that's because it is so good

You are thinking of a different card, that version (future sight) was the first printing. Mystic snake is awesome! When my friends first got me into mtg, dissension was out and I always wanted a mystic snake because I liked the simic lore and made a UG deck, but they were too expensive But yea, that's because it is so good

slivers are pretty cool, but never had a sliver deck though The most fun seems to be 5 colors for slivers, and that makes the mana base expensive. But these dudes do help with that...

A powerful sliver combo (that even won the pro tour) was this guy

Which can kill you very fast because the poisonous ability stacks, so if you have two of them out, each hit is TWO poison counters, and so on. I think there was a sliver that gave shadow that was part of the combo, but something like shifting sliver that @Nebulon_Galaxy posted would work too. So once your slivers are unblockable, it is gg very fast, even with very weak slivers, unless opponent has a board wipe

I vote for my friend's exalted Commander deck when he gets his land that can transform into a 1/1 flyer with infect since you still lose in Commander with 10 poison counters and exalted bonuses on top of that 1/1 flyer......

Your angel picks there. Baneslayer angel is Made me look up Akroma, and I really like this new art, but it makes me sad they removed the og flavor text "No rest. No mercy. No matter what" is so poignant even if you don't know the story which makes me like that more.

Cool card. I don't know much about the old cards, other than watching some vintage players on youtube, as I don't have any. All my cards are from around Ravnica standard or later.

I don't know what I used to hate more, sliver decks or the poison ability during Phyrexia

I had stopped playing by the time Phyrexia came out, but I think I do remember that infect was broken and I think there is a powerful modern deck that uses it. Combo slivers was crazy, but other than that deck, I never found slivers to be that broken. Slivers have a really tough time with any control/interactive deck, sliver decks pretty much just play a bunch of slivers, so if they lose control of the board they have a sad time Other agrro/tribal decks like goblins and fish also have that problem, but those decks have other tools to quickly recover and strategies besides just overwhelming on board (that's why the sliver combo deck was/is so scary, it has an alternate win condition in addition to sliver beats)

* U/G- you are right. yeah, they can be./ fast ramp, cheeky small threats and enough bounce and draw to keep the opponent at bay until the big 'uns come out and trample.. <3

Huh, interesting card. Is your strategy to mill yourself or use draw/discard to get really expensive enchantments in the graveyard, then fire off the ultimate to put a bunch of huge enchantments on the field?

I'm so old and out of touch with MTG, this little freak was my MVP back during the ice age. (But not MTG Ice Age, because that was Necropotence).
