Most of us experienced that one video game level/chapter where we just couldn't progress, either it was too difficult or had no idea what to do next.
Being that the internet barely existed at the time, it was you Vs luck or bedtime before you were told to shut down your device.
Which video game was it for you that had you stumped for the longest time?
For me, it was this right here. The tigers and water location. I still haven't gone back to it to this day.

OMG, yes! That one pissed me off SO HARD as a kid.

I also had an absolutely miserable time trying to get past one of the later levels of Army Men: World War - Land, Sea, Air for the PlayStation 1.

Every time I managed to get an inch further, some hidden enemy would kill me right away. It was so maddening that I actually went and wrote my very own walkthrough with a map of that area. It felt glorious when I finally managed to beat that level.

There's been some games over the years that I also played that I was clueless of what to do in order to make any progress.

Pilot School in San Andreas. I literally skip it. And ironically I have no problem with N.O.E. or any of the other flying missions that the school is supposedly preparing you for.

Any GTA games, some missions are just impossible
Not just leaving you hanging, it can change a person, giving you headaches like CJ
Oh No Wow GIF by Rockstar Games

mine would be every FF or DQ games since I have a pretty bad memory and gets lost for days until I figure out where the hell am I supposed to go which by the end, I'd become too strong since half the time of trying to find out where I'm supposed to go I unknowingly grinded my level making the game too easy.

The Dig. There's one puzzle that drove me nuts when i played it as a kid. It was a dead alien sea turtle that got eaten but a giant loch ness monster thing and spat out the bones. You have to reassemble the bones correctly in order to revive it with the life crystals but i kept getting it wrong every time. You can place the bones everywhere even in the wrong places and you have to rotate them too. There were no online photos to compare it to either.

i got really stuck in "The Asylum Grounds" level on Medievil (PS) as a kid.
Towards the end of the level you have to find the mouse and make it follow you past a bunch of cats and all the way to the elephant shaped bush which then turns into a real elephant and runs through the wall so you can finish the level...

well i somehow did this accidently without even knowing the mouse was following me ?
only took a year or two of running around in circles

For me, it was the Treasure Shrine in Lufia II on the SNES. I got the game around release and really enjoyed most aspects of it. But there's a series of colored block puzzles in the Treasure Shrine, and I could never figure out the final one. I was stuck on it for years. I even invited a friend over to help me with it, but we didn't manage to get past it.

I finally beat the game earlier this year! I still needed a guide to help with that puzzle and one or two other difficult ones.

There's so many... I remember getting stuck at the Lake Shrine in Alundra because I couldn't do some puzzle. Then my memory card got corrupted. I ended up with a permanently corrupted and useless block. I had to start the entire game over again. ?

I'm replaying Virtue's Last Reward after playing through Zero Time Dilemma. There's math. I suck at math. ?

The dart board puzzle is easier if you are bad at math if you just memorize the value of each space. I didn't exactly brute force it... But my method certainly won't get me a job at NASA either.?

no one mentioned castlevania II? the only way i discovered it back then was my friends at the time and magazines! heart of darkness included lol i had to get help from my siblings at the time to help out with that one ?
