Light Gun light Gun Games

While it takes a *very* particular version of MAME to run it, I tend to enjoy playing CarnEvil at least once or twice a year on PC.
found a package with rom, chd & Mame0179b_64bit thats preconfigured for lightgun but its 1.5GB!
you sure its worth it? ::lol

I own two Sinden light guns and love them. They're not perfect but I'd say 95% of the time the thing I point the gun at goes bang and falls over. Can't imagine using them without Batocera though, it takes all the guess work out of it.

oh cool! yeah so i hear its easier with Batocera :( especially if your using two guns apparently its super complicated to get a second gun working otherwise. i saw an endless wall of AHK script for it O.o
seriously contemplating going back to Batocera but ive got BigBox and its really good and i wunna make it work, i think 3/4 of my lightgun games are working perfectly so far.. even wii games work with a bunch of aim hacks. do you have PS2 games working? also does Batocera have its own boarders for sinden or something? its annoying af to setup overlays for a boarder in every emulator.

Batocera automatically puts up borders when it detects a Sinden light gun, handles 2 if they have unique camera ids (need to contact Sinden if that's an issue for you), and works with basically every game I've tried including ps2, wii, and ps3. Recent update I've been having issues with the Daphne games... which I'm not really losing sleep over :P

wow nice, thats so handy. i have to use a stupid reshader program on emulators if they dont have their own overlays & right now its refusing to work on Sega Model 3/supermodel
i think Batocera is the way to go.. until other frontends catch up
i just dont like the fact is runs on another OS

The only thing Batocera doesn't do currently is Teknoparrot games. Honestly Batocera has spoiled me so badly it's made me a Linux snob, I built a batocera mini pc for my youngest sister with 2tb of games, and I want to do something similar for myself but with a beefier rig and 8tb of internal storage.

The only light gun games I played where at the arcades, games like HotD 2 and 4 being my favourite, but I rarely go to the arcades nowdays for multiple reasons and when I do, I dont see the machines anymore...
On another note, I do remember my dad buying one of those PS3 Move Guns, something like this:

It was awful to play with lol.

I do it old school style on a fat CRT TV

I'd love a Sinden for MAME but seems like too much hassle and a bit too expensive

Virtua Cop 1 and 2 (Saturn), Confidential Mission and House of the Dead 2 (Dreamcast), all the Namco games (PS1, PS2, PS3), Police 24/7 (PS2), Ghost Squad (Wii)

Would love to own a Silent Scope cab!

I got a Sinden Light Gun when they first kickstarted.
I really enjoyed it for awhile but honestly I hardly use it anymore.

Love light gun games. My favorites might be Crisis Zone, Time Crisis 3, Ninja Assault, Operation Ghost and Ghost Squad

There's a special light gun game available on PS2 made by Konami. It plays like Time Crisis but you can use a webcam. The camera tracks you and you can dodge in different directions. I actually managed to track an old webcam down that works with the game. Though I have to say you need to have decent stamina to play it this way lol

If you like Point Blank you'll love that Dev team's other forgotten gem, Ghoul Panic for the PSOne.
It and Rescue Shot (also for the PSOne) are my all time faves

Was there a Rambo light gun video game on PS3?

I still do. I keep all my systems and games. Been waiting to get into the Sinden rabbit hole, just stupid shit happens when I'm going to. (transmission went out, unsure if getting job, bills,etc...)

House of the dead Overkill on PS 3 or Wii, if you don't like it, you're wrong.

I'm still a huge fan of the House of the Dead games it a shame how those remakes turned out though I'd much rather they just port the old versions. Never beat a HotD game though too hard that doesn't stop me from trying though

I've recentrly played through Terminator 2 with EmuVR and the motion controller (with the Guncon model).

Anyone play light gun games these days?
and how do you play them?!

i still have a G-con45, Time Crisis and PS1
BUT the old light guns wont work on modern LCD TV's and i cant find an old CRT anywhere..
so i got something called a Sinden Light Gun that works on LCD ::agree

It was kinda hard to get it into my country with our strict gun laws haha
i wasn't able to get black or grey so i got blue which is fine
there is even a "shotgun" form factor available but there is no way i could get that one in XD

Its not exactly plug & play but it works how it should straight out of the box on its own software
but the biggest trouble is getting it to work with emulators ::confused what a nightmare!

some of it is seriously off-putting, apparently for Pcsx2 you have to make AHK scripts to assign buttons to the gun
and retroarch wouldn't work if it was already installed before the guns software which confused me up for a long time & thats just some of the problems I've run into so far.. there is alot of "trial and error" involved and each game works differently so requires its own settings
but yeah once its working correctly its so fun! ::eyebrows

it works by putting a white boarder around your monitor and there is a camera inside the barrel of the gun so it can see where exactly to put the crosshair within the boarder. its surprisingly accurate as long as your in a dark room.

so what are your favorite light gun games? im a big fan of the Point Blank series :)

OK fine, Elemental Gearbolt

There’s this amazing mall near where I used to live where there’s a proper incredible arcade. 8 player Daytona USA, F-Zero AX, Pop’n Music, a PlayChoice 10 machine, a whole row of pinball games, an N64 with an EverDrive hooked up to a massive CRT, arcade Power Stone and Ehrgiez and Beastorizer, Simpsons and X-Men arcade, and in a section near the back wall on the left hand side is a whole section of light gun games.

So one day, I paid the entry fee, I was fresh out of High School and it was the summer before college I think? I go to the light gun section and say “hey, I’ve never played House of the Dead. Let’s do it!”

I was all alone, but I picked up both guns and pretended I was Dante from Devil May Cry. I played through the entire game, start to finish, dual weilding the light guns like an absolute ~~idiot~~ bad ass.

That will FOREVER be a memory I cherish.

If you’re wondering where this is, it’s Boss Battle Games at the Castleton Square Mall near Indianapolis, Indiana USA. Check it out when you can!

I have an AimTrak (recoilless because I'm poor) that I use to play lightgun games since most of the decent arcades are ages away from where I live. It's really simple to use and setup on various devices which is a huge bonus since the advent of handheld gaming PCs.

I can second CarnEvil as an amazing Light Gun game to try out if you're in a slightly goofy horror mood.

On that note, you should also think about trying out Silent Hill: The Arcade. There was a fan-made PC port done a little while ago that makes it super easy to run on a PC.

I got people I know who absolutely love these games and I just tag along, really fun until you lose and are forced to replay because SOMEONE wants to get to the final mission AGAIN.

I have built myself a couch rig that is higher on the spec sheet and originally just had a 4tb m.2 ssd in it running Nobara OS as a Steam Machine. Then facebook kept showing me ads for the Sinden light guns and I did research into it, so now I also have a 2tb SSD into running Batocera that I can dual boot into. Didn't buy the guns yet, been too busy loading up on roms and playing other classics. But I do really want to hit up the old Time Crisis games on ps2 and House of the Dead on Dreamcast. Just need to decide when I will bite the bullet on the Sinden guns themselves.

I loves me a good ol' game of The House of the Dead. Only thing is I have to either use a mouse or my controller's analog stick to aim since I don't have a light gun controller.

I'd like to get one or two someday but I don't know which one to get. I'd need a light gun controller that can work with a wide variety of light gun games since I not only have console light gun games but a whole slew of arcade light gun games too.

What light gun has all the features to work with all manner of light gun games going all the way back to the Magnavox Odyssey's Shooting Gallery?

If you play or emulate on PC, you can consider the Sinden Light Gun in combination with software like Demulshooter. I think the Sinden even works on the PS2. There's also stuff like GUN4IR but that's more difficult to setup.
