Well, since I have been summoned to this thread, I feel obliged to share this video:

i read or heard, don't remember which, that the reason for the weird line delivery was because the voice actors were handed the script with pen markings on it crossing out bits of the translated words and names on it. Dr. light's voice actor was almost about to say "RockMan" but noticed at the last literal nanosecond that it was crossed out with an arrow pointing up to a hastily scribbled "megaman" about the size of a grain of salt above it.

Arc Rise Fantasia, for sure. I played through it last year with a patch that restores the japanese dub and balances the game a little bit and it was a night and day difference from the original release. Ended up being one of my favorite RPG’s.

I'm sure I don't have to explain that there have been some remarkably bad english voice overs across gaming history, some so famously bad it almost becomes part of the draw. I can only at this moment think of two fairly well known examples, they being Castlevania Symphony of the Night (whose rough edges in the voice department I find charming, much of it legitimately cracks me up) and Fire Emblem Path of Radiance (whose dub is just plain bad)
