This concept of reviving dead franchises where they left off isn't new, but after accumulating a pile of disappointments since the last decade (Tron Ares, Matrix Resurrections and Blade Runner 2049 among others), I wondered which legacy sequels were successful and which became classics like their predecessors.

All I can think about is Fury Road.

He's good, but no. I think it doesnt need him to carry it.
When I hear people talk about the movie, the praise focuses more on an old man trying to show the younger gen that he’s still a winner.

Literally all of the attempts I have seen were bad. But I don't want to make it about that since you asked the opposite. The Blade Runner movie wasn't that bad ig. I need to rewatch it maybe.

I thought Ryan Gosling's arc was really good but once he met Deckard, he lost the spotlight entirely and died like a nobody (even though the movie tried hard to deny that).

It came out about 12 years after the previous film.
No trailer gave me that impression, so I didn't even watch it.

While not perfect, I honestly enjoyed the "Creed" movies and they felt a lot more like a sequel compared to the sixth "Rocky" movie.
Did you see the others? I stopped at the first one.

The only one I can think of besides Fury Road is Finding Dory, which was quality. Both of those are also excellent in 3D, if you're into that kind of thing.

Incidentally, I find it deeply offensive that that edition of Fury Road wasn't named "The Shiny and Chrome Edition". C'mon, Hollywood!

i absolutely thought finding dory was a better movie than finding nemo when i watched them both back to back.

Is the Black & Chrome edition good or just an artsy experiment for a movie that is still fine the way it is?

Does Tom Cruise carry the film?
He carried every movies he was a protagonist of.

Blade Runner 2049
Blade Runner 2049 is a classic sequel, nowhere near a disappointment.

Also Star Wars Prequel Trilogy was a legacy sequel and it is a classic nowadays.

Black and Chrome Edition is just an experiment that doesn't affect the story in any way (if you found it too expensive for your budget, stick with what you already have).

Considering the rules of a Legacy Sequel, justify your answer.
