PC port of Kirby's Return to Dream Land by ModernGekko. There's a Windows version and a Linux version, since I only have Windows this is the version I converted but you can grab the Linux version in the official github page. Source: https://github.com/ExpansionPak/ModernGekko/releases/tag/kirby

so what are the features? anything fancy here? the screenshots aren't even high res or widescreen to even tell.
the github has literally nothing about the game either...
unlikely, but any of the switch deluxe version features? cause thats a much improved version and has the magalor mode, and a whole crapton of minigames (old and new)
there's been a LOT of pc Recomps that i said "nah" because emulation options and such already vastly improve the experience
Save states, rewind, fast forward, resolution scale, mapping 4 players to the same keyboard/gamepad (i don't have 3 friends i like controlling multiple players at once when it works)

Fun fact: This game had some of the toughest copy protection on the Wii.

Use that at your own risk.

Not sure this is accurate, this came out in 2011 as the Wii was already in its last year and the year prior in 2010 we got Kirby's Epic Yarn, there were several prototypes for Kirby throughout the GC era (and even the N64 era) that didn't make it, it's very possible this game is based on one of those prototypes but I don't think it was a GC game ported over to the Wii at the last minute, unlike Donkey Kong Barrel Blast for example.
it reuses a few assets from the GC one that has a trailer, but overall RtDL was made from the ground up under a new director and featuring completely different storyline

The game started development to the Gamecube and then moved to the Wii. Part of the reason it took so long was how hard trying to implement multiplayer was.

That file size reminds me this started as a Gamecube game and is still a Gamecube game only ported to the Wii. Is just that it took so long to finish the game there was no point in releasing it for the Gamecube so to the Wii it went.

While its development indeed started in 2005, it went into development hell until they managed to start working on it again to release the game in 2011.

Filesizes however, tell nothing about a game being a GC game ported to the Wii. You see, the Wii is basically two Gamecube glued together with silver tape and the design philosophy didn't change much between the two consoles, specially since both were still SD.

There are of course Wii games that make use of the bigger DVD but in most cases they just use dummy files to fill up the empty space and push the actual data to the outer rim of the disc.

I was even looking at my full Wii rom set and noticed that 50% of its library are from games that are smaller than 1.36 GB (which is the maximum filesize of a Gamecube disc).

This running really slow for me. Seems locked 30 FPS for me even though I set it to high performance processor on the NVIDIA control panel. Lowering resolution doesn't change the framerate.
Odd, it runs almost flawlessly on my low end laptop.

No, the ISO isn't included, I'd recommend for this special case, to convert the ISO to WBFS to make the package smaller.
I used wbfs already but I'm currently uploading the file again this time game is included, it doesn't seem to be necessary though as after first time you run the game you can just delete it and game should still work it seems.

Does this not work without the Rom? I removed it in account it still works for me without but I wanted someone to confirm.
the readme says the folder does not contain the game file and that the recomp only accepts the us version. i seem to have got a different rom but i'll get back to you should i get the right one but yes i believe the us rom is required

edit: it could be a verification thing but i'm not the brightest in this field

edit2: the wbfs/iso is needed and uploader included it. just editing for the "get bacl to you" part
