I've always thought of it as being like Twin Peaks but more confusing. Roxas is a lot like Dougie Jones and Xenohort is like Bob.

Kingdom hearts Is based on the dark fantasy manga BERSERK. They do say that Disney stories all have a dark fantasy origin and now i found Kingdom hearts origin too. Berserk actually brings a lot of clarity to Kingdom heats story.

Both Riku and griffith not only look alike but if you pay close attention, they are basically the same exact person. They Both have a highly ambitious dream that they inspire their friends to help them achieve. Both dreams kind of having to do with reaching other worlds. Griffith of course is a commoner and wants to reach the world of nobles and stuff and riku too wants to escape his world to see others as well. Its basically the same Goal. In order to accomplish their goal they both need a vessel.

Anyway, an eclipse sinks both characters worlds into darkness and it results in the appearance of dark creatures called heartless in kingdom hearts or apostles in Berserk. The interesting thing is that Both heartless and apostles are both creatures that were once humans who lost their heart to darkness so to speak
