Live Action Kamen Rider fan thread

Ooooh I didn't know there is a Rider thread here.

My first exposure to Kamen Rider was.... Saban's Masked Rider, okay hear me out.
Funny enough, in my country Masked Rider and Black aired at the same time, albeit at different channel and time slot, and dumb young me thought they were both the same show, until eventually I somehow skipped out Masked Rider and only watch Black (at this point, the channel was airing RX).

Fortunately, after RX was done, the channel continued airing from Kuuga up to Blade, where it abruptly stopped around eps 20 for some reason. I didn't finish watching Blade and I skipped Hibiki due to this, though I watched 'em later on.

I have finished every season from Black to Gotchard, except Ghost, and now currently enjoying Gavv, I didn't count the Showa riders because I was too young to remember anything when I saw 'em.

BTW, how is everyone enjoying Gavv? I'd love to hear how some of you think the story is going to turn out.
It's awesome, so far all the episodes are good (I don't want to jinx it) I have some theories of my own, but I don't want to go too crazy on this thread, maybe if more people get more interested in...

Best Reiwa season so far for me, I really hope the writers won't pull the 'Villain rider as main antagonist' card again here, I do miss the time when the last boss was just straight up Kaijin, I mean the Granutes technically 'transform' into human now.

Meet Kamen Rider Femme, the first female Kamen Rider. She debuted in the movie Kamen Rider Ryuki: Episode Final. Her contract monster is the swan mirror monster Blancwing.

The transformations are the best part.
She was from the movie right?

I almost expected Kabuto to be the first female main rider before they bamboozled us.

Technically the very first one was Agito but it doesn't fully count.

That's because Hibiki wasn't supposed to be a Kamen Rider show. It was originally going to be a revival for one of Shotaro Ishinomori's other works, Henshin Ninja Arashi.

But they retooled into a season of Kamen Rider for some reason.
When I've learnt that I got surprised and this explained why he looked so different (almost organical like) with an unique henshin style (no proper belt use).

Shame that they changed the director halfway.

Anyone else disappointed that they didn't cast Ryoka Minamide as Gavv? I mean c'mon, he's the Juicy Kid!

Never knew about this, would be really funny if they did lol.

Toei wasted a perfectly good opportunity.

Just watched the first Kamen Rider Agito episode & it was pretty good.

G3 is a great concept, taking Kuuga's design to make it an artificial exo-sekleton reminiscent of a Metal Hero was the best move for a KR series.

Kuuga having only one rider felt a bit bare-bone despite the diversity of his forms.

I still wish G3 had more evolution than just G3-X but that's because Agito is the main character.

Also is this me or Makoto was starting to show some Agito power towards the end? Why that got abandoned towards the end?

Just noticing the title and realizing that W was the only one that I ever fully watched

Yet ... Den-O, OOO, Saber (to name a few) had really nice sounding intros !

Wasn't aware you replied to me on the 23rd of last month, (since I don't have those notifications turned on), but I've only ever watched the first episode of Kamen Rider Agito and nothing else as of currently, other then episodes 1-4 of Kamen Rider Kuga, with Kamen Rider Wizard being the only Kamen Rider that I've fully watched.

Other then what I said above, I just only watched the first episode of Kamen Rider Fourze.

I have notifications but sometimes they don't always work.

Toei's Youtube Channel never go beyond Episode 2 for the modern Riders which annoys me a bit.

Sadly Fourze is the part of the era where I stopped caring about KR because of the armor and belt design being a bit too "toy-like" (I know, it's the purpose of the franchise but I prefer Showa and early Heisei the most).

This anniversary season has many issues but I love the opening

Did you know that it was the first season to have a female rider?
i used to binge watch the episodes on youtube in 2009-2010 in three parts. i just remember when they were airing in my country back in 2003-2004 and i was like ya i got internet let's try to watch the whole thing now hahaha

What is the first female Rider?

Tackle but she hardly counts since they told that she wasn't really a rider despite being an Electronic Wave Humanoid (a type of cyborg) like Stronger.

I know, she got cheated honestly.
I mean, the main audience of Tokus is young boys (yes I know that even girl read shonens and watched Ultraman) to sell them toys.

Japan is pretty traditional in the way it treats the brands and how things should be.

I do appreciate they tried with Femme in Ryuki (because of the Battle Royale aspect) but I doubt we could see a female main Rider the same way we don't see older actors playing them.

We still see pretty important female characters in supporting roles like Sakurako in Kuuga or Mana in Agito.

It is odd how notifications sometimes don't work. I watched the first episode of Fourze on some other website and there's nothing wrong with liking the older series of something, kind of like how I'm more used to watching those Godzilla movies from those two eras and not the newer movies.

The Showa era Riders are pretty rough I could agree (especially with how obvious some special effects are like playing something backwards or video effects).

I like them with a bit of a chuckle because of how "innocent" it felt like back then (and some darker elements that wouldn't have been greenlit today).

My gripe about modern stuff is the over-reliance on CGIs.

Probably due to them wanting to make it easier for people so they use CGI.
