Japan has a very odd music scene, being neglected until the 70s, it takes most of its ideas from western and other eastern music.
This thread is meant to show people some new music, feel free to add, this is more of a list than anything.
I have a very soft spot for this stuff, as most of the bands in these scene are much more obscure, meaning I can show them off more. Here's my favorite examples.
(Personal favorite, its not on streaming or even any music P2P services, its one of the most batshit insane things I have ever listened to.)

Please contact me if you have information on DaijoubuP, there is little to no information online.
I will PAY YOU for a .flac copy of this album.
This is the only result on a P2P app I cannot name.

Oddball Japanese Music is one of my favorite genres! Thanks for sharing DaijoubuP, I'd never heard of them before. 20 minutes in and I love it. I'll add a few of my favorites to the thread too.

Koenjihyakkei are an easy first recommendation. I eat up nearly anything Tatsuya Yoshida touches but the stuff he's put out with Koenjihyakkei are by far my favorites. If you dig this then I'd also highly suggest checking out Dhorimviskha, another of their albums.

This one actually got an overseas release on Skin Graft Records. Abrasive fun.

Formed by the ex-singer and bassist of Bleach. Didn't put much music out but all of it is quality stuff.

Now for some lighter/poppier stuff:
I've heard them called "Japanese Devo". Super catchy.

Kidorikko has a special place in my heart. These songs also appeared on their single major label release but I prefer the earlier versions.

Last off, here's the Japan-focused ZOLO compilation from arguably my favorite music channel on youtube:

The other 13 comps are also must-listens if you're into off the wall music.

Gnarly thread.
I'm going to post a couple of less obscure ones, but they're all a good place to start for anyone who's into this sort of shit. Enjoy~

Good to see Boredoms and Melt-Banana in the thread! Here's one other album, which I feel is an obligatory mention if we're talking about experimental japanese music:
