Is the Atari Jaguar, 3DO & Amiga CD-32 apart of the 4th Gen or 5th Gen?

They don't feel like they belong in the same generation as PSX/N64/Saturn. but these system is competing against pre-existing 16-bit system like the SNES & Genesis.
When Late 1994-1996 came around the corner. These system already get discontinued and the PlayStation, Saturn & N64 is already on the market which graphics which is considered revolutionary at the time.

Is 3DO, Jaguar, Amiga CD-32 really considered to be apart of the Generation of the Genesis/SNES or PSX/Saturn/N64?

5th generation! They only beat the PS1 and Saturn to market by a year at most and a big push was for 3D gaming, just like the big 3 of the 5th generation. The 3DO and Jaguar were discontinued in 1996, 2 years after the PS1 and Saturn released. This means they technically spent more of their lives as direct competitors to the PS1 and Saturn - systems they are already far more comparable to anyways - than the SNES and Genesis.

After all, we don't consider the PC Engine a 3rd generation system despite it launching in 1987, beating the Genesis to market by a whole year just like the 3DO and Jaguar did. I know it can be weird saying that the generation technically starts with systems that flopped hardcore (though the 3DO is a neat little system) but it is what it is.

I would put the 3DO and Jaguar in the 5th gen because of their technical capabilities, and the Amiga CD32 in the 4th gen since it's basically an Amiga 1200 with an extra chip and a CD drive.

Agreed.

PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 is definitely a 4th gen console, despite its early launch and it having only a 8-bit CPU.

I'd put the Jaguar in the 5th generation due to its technical achievements, but I feel that there should be an asterisk next to it.

They are, have been, and forever will be fifth gen. The fourth Gen encompasses hardware based around 16 bit computer hardware that came around in the mid 80's. The 32 bit computers began to show up around 1992 or so. The first fifth gen machine is considered to be the FM Towns Marty, and these consoles came after that.

We don't count SEGA's add-ons as part of the fifth gen because they're for a fourth gen machine and do not work independently. Hope this helps!
