I'll let you know if I ever buy one. Don't hold your breath
What's the price?Use that money to buy a Steamdeck OLED or Odin 2 Portal is my recommendation.
Steamdeck OLED is $550, if you don't mind a LCD screen, $400. Odin 2 Portal Pro is also $400. Switch 2 is also $400-500 depending on if you get the pack in or not. I wouldn't be concerned with just one game for a system, considering what the Steamdeck and Odin 2 can offer you. With Switch 2, you'll only be limited to what Nintendo gives you. With the other 2, the World is your oyster. And if the Switch 2 ever gets *ahem* then you also have the systems to take care of that itch as well in the future, and even play Kirby Air Riders on it. Assuming you have the patience to wait for it.What's the price?
Also the issue is that I won't get Kirby Air Riders on them...
But like any newer consoles it's always better to wait 6 months if not a full year to see more interesting games on it.
Yes, I buy a Nintendo console primarily for the Nintendo games, that's nothing new and it's the case since at least the N64 (counting Rareware as a second party dev). My secondary use for the Switch 1 was for indies (and occasionally retro game compilations/remasters/ports) when they're in heavy sales but mostly for my favourite ones. With Switch 2, you'll only be limited to what Nintendo gives you. Fair enough. Then my answer to you is to wait it out, until Kirby releases or any other game you might really enjoy, where you no longer have to ask that question to yourself, and have no doubt.Yes, I buy a Nintendo console primarily for the Nintendo games, that's nothing new and it's the case since at least the N64 (counting Rareware as a second party dev). I know that it would but I categorically refuse to emulate a game that is still sold in store, I only go as far as the 3DS and Wii U (and PS360 although I could run the PS4 and Xbox One on my PC if I really want to try Bloodborn and Rare Replay).
I wouldn't compare the gap between the Atari Jaguar and consoles from 2013 with a console from the early 2010's and today. The processor is just an ARM chip equilent to an old ps4. So we're talking old jaguar processing back to 2013.
Zelda BotW was on the Wii U.And this is why they won't have open world games on it.
No no, PS4 CPU architecture was named Jaguar. It has nothing to do with Atari Jaguar. I believe the comment was to compare the performance of an A78 from Switch 2 with a PS4 CPU.I wouldn't compare the gap between the Atari Jaguar and consoles from 2013 with a console from the early 2010's and today.

Where is that info from?Too early, too expensive, not enough games yet, needs more features. Also the whole "no used games allowed or else we'll brick your console" thing is a bummer too.
But that's not the device's problem, it's Nintendo's. I enjoy Rune Factory 5 at stable 30fps (it can run between 45-60fps but not stable) because I have put the console to the original chipset clocks. If you blame the device because you don't want to mod it, that's on your side then, because you accepted that the very moment you bought it and even being able to do something about it you choose not to.The real question we should all be asking is: will the Switch 2 make Rune Factory 5 run consistently at an FPS above 20? Wait nevermind I looked it up and yes it does and also apparently it even cuts out the loading times.
If they ever remastered Rune Factory: Frontier then the Switch 2 could run every single good Rune Factory game.
I also want to know what do you mean by second hand games can brick your console. First time I've heard about that in life. Can you elaborate, please?Too early, too expensive, not enough games yet, needs more features. Also the whole "no used games allowed or else we'll brick your console" thing is a bummer too.
Well, actually Switch could be like a buffed up Wii U with more RAM :)Ah my bad.
I mean some trolls out there are still telling that a Switch is merely a buffed up Wii when it's not exactly how it works. There's a technical gap but not one where you'd have a 128-bits era console today.
I remember that some 3DS games were made without any ability to "nuke" the save file (aka having a factory reset for a video game like with pressing ABXY + LR + Start or Select) such as RE Mercenaries 3D was a bad move for those who wanted to lend or sell their games.I also want to know what do you mean by second hand games can brick your console. With that kind of mindset you could practically say that for 3 generations consoles have been buffed up versions of themselves.Well, actually Switch could be like a buffed up Wii U with more RAM :)
No no, this example is totally loable, because Wii U was a desktop console, and Switch is a portable console. It would be like comparing Super Famicom and GBA.With that kind of mindset you could practically say that for 3 generations consoles have been buffed up versions of themselves.
The PS5 Pro could've been seen as the Pro version of the PS4 Pro and the Xbox Series are buffed up Xbox One S/X.
One user briefly got banned online for buying a bunch of used games off of Facebook marketplace and was testing them, apparently the amount of games being inserted tripped their system and they were banned but it was sorted out quickly when they contacted CS. Annoying, but far from secondhand games being not being allowed.I also want to know what do you mean by second hand games can brick your console. First time I've heard about that in life. Wow, that is actually funny. Maybe they thought the user was using a Mig Switch, because you have to reinsert one time per game lol.One user briefly got banned online for buying a bunch of used games off of Facebook marketplace and was testing them, apparently the amount of games being inserted tripped their system and they were banned but it was sorted out quickly when they contacted CS. Modding is legit everywhere. Don't think only about Nintendo, laws can't possibly block you from modifying whatever you buy if you're at home, because you're at home. And by modifying something in this case means you're enhancing the hardware capabilities to play games better. The whole bricking for modding a console was meant to fight against piracy and online cheating?
The first one could be bad for honest buyers if they get several games at once but I still agree about the later half, I don't want to see people unfairly winning games or griefing them to ruin other's enjoyment.
That's something I could understand but would be probably be recommended only after the warranty has expired since modification outside of technical support could forfeit it.Modding is legit everywhere. Cheating as a recreational thing in strictly single player games is something I'm fine with. Who never played Minecraft with the Too Many Items mod when Creative Mode wasn't a thing? And Doom as well of plenty of 32/64-bits era games had those unlockable as a way to reward the player which I am fine with. But what you say is totally logic, online cheating should not be permitted. But I always relate it with kids, because when you cheat in life, you cheat to yourself. Even if nobody notices it, you know it. But as kids are unmature beings, they don't care, but when they have social / laboral problems because of cheating, they get what they deserve.
While I understand the whole money thing (food and shelter are still more important than games) I think that if someone has enough money for a console or a computer that could run these games they cannot really make that excuse unless the games emulated are really old (10+ years old at least).I also don't support piracy as is, I mean for the only sake of playing everything for free. I don't care a person has the excuse of "I have no money, that's why I pirate". That's not valid, because you can get lots of cheap games from console stores or PC stores. If you're patient and don't want the last of the last, then you can get many great deals and have a lot of fun with very little money. You want the best, the newest and with the cheapest price? the world isn't for you.
I hate how real retro consoles are less reachable yeah...Another different thing is that for playing a game that was released 15 years ago, I have to pay 200-300€ because scalpers galore or market reasons. That would be a no-no, 1st because the developer does not get any money from it anymore, and 2nd I don't want anyone to get that money regardless on how much I want that game. So, in such case, and if there is no re-release version that you can buy cheap digitally, download the ISO and play it in your favourite device. Playing "pirated" Switch games has only one purpose for me right now, I have the original and I just don't want to use it, so I get a backup somewhere and use it, while my game is perfectly kept. And that should be a right.
