is Nintendo switch 2 worth it

Of course no, Nintendo went full greedy swing and doing whatever they want because "fans will pay for it". Playing in their hands with stuff like the overpriced games or basic functions like chat being behind a paywall is terrible news and, if you choose to pay for it, a bad incentive for Nintendo.

Give it a year of 2 and then "maybe", in that time we will probably have the next generation in our hands, and Nintendo might be humble and lower the price and reduce the abusive practices.

I will continue asking to the people who bought Switch 2. What is your opinion on game-key cards? also, what do you think when the game is released physically on Switch but as a game-key card on Switch 2? will I get the answer this time? :O
If I had to rank it, it would be Physical Game > Keycard > Digital Game > Blu-Ray Disc with nothing on it > Empty physical box with a game code. I rather have physical media over digital but I do view keycards as a step above the other digital formats since you can sell them or trade with friends with them easily. Granted you could argue you could do the same thing with those blu-ray disks that have none of the game data on it but they're on systems that are actively trying to remove physical media and not even come with disc drives while Nintendo is at least dragging it's feet on completely removing physical media. I would have rather them release more variations of their SD Cards instead of only offering 64gb ones for manufacturers limiting what third party publishers could use for their physical media and making keycards the more desired option for them.

But for the question of is the Switch 2 worth it. For Switch 2 exclusives right now only if you have a hard on for Mario Kart. It's a really good game and I don't have no regrets going to the midnight release to get it. But it is also the only Switch 2 game I have right now until Donkey Kong comes out, I just have a few games from Switch 1 to catch up that released after I sold my Switch that I was half tempted to buy a Switch again but with how close the Switch 2 was releasing waited for that. If I didn't have those few games to catch up on i would probably be bored with my Switch 2 beyond getting my Mario Kart fix in.

Not for me.

Don’t hold your breath on a price drop. The Switch never got one.
A price increase might be more likely now. See Xbox Series X and PS5.

Is an overpriced tablet with two wireless Bluetooth controllers that's Nintendo locked worth 500 USD?
PFFFFTTTTT No

I could take 500 USD and build a decent gaming PC out of it, and have a hell of a lot more fun with a lot more variety

Yeah 500 USD would be enough for a decent gaming PC.

I am totally with you, the problem is that there will be a bunch of games you won't be able to play from PC. If with those 500€ you include Switch & Switch 2 emulation, then I buy it, because after Switch 2 emulation is decent, a Ryzen 9000 would be able to emulate the system. I could totally build a PC second hand for 500€ that can handle gaming virtually any game 1080-1440p Very High settings.

Well aside from Zelda and a new Metroid game, nothing Nintendo has really interests me.
And honestly I don't really care that much about either of those as much anymore, but Fair point

For me, it's not worth it because of how outdated the hardware of the switch 2 is. It's using the PS4 hardware from like a decade ago, and the prices of those games for the switch 2 are around $70 to $80 just to play those games. When I first saw it, I had high hopes for this console and was thinking of buying it, but when I heard about the prices for this thing and it's games, it made me not want to get it because it reminds me of the days of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S where they're always sold out, and the scalpers jacking up the prices like crazy. If you remember those days, you'd probably know how bad this console generation is due to corporate greed. It's also one of the reasons why I'm glad that I got a pc as my 19th birthday gift and a steam deck for Christmas of 2022 because I was sick of the companies being so greedy. I've also started to watch videos from YouTubers like Retro Game Corps, TechDweeb, ETA Prime, and WulffDen and they were showing some cool pocket friendly handhelds like the RG35XX Plus, The RG35XX SP, Retroid Pocket 2S, Ayn odin 2 and the mini version, RG 34XX, RG Cube, ect. So I started collecting Retro Handhelds with the first one, The R36S and it was like 50 bucks on Amazon. Then I started to collect more of them like R36S but with more emulation capabilities. So if anyone would want to get a switch 2 and it's games, go right ahead and I hope you have a great time with it, but I may advise against it. But if anyone can't afford or don't want to buy the switch 2, then get either a steam deck or those retro handhelds that are preloaded with games and emulators if you can't afford a steam deck because the retro handhelds are not only cheaper but they're at least travel and pocket friendly then any device imaginable. That's my take on the Switch 2.

Unless you really really want it nao... Wait for more games. If you wait long enough you'll get OLED too. We all know it's coming.

No, just wait 20 years until they can emulate it

It's worth it, but personally I never buy a console the year it comes out; I wait a few years to let it build up a decent library of games. It also incentivizes me to get all wrapped up on the previous console by finishing games that I want to finish before moving on.

Money GIF

I Rather burn the little Money I have than to support that Greedy and Fucked up Shit Nintendo does right now with there Nintendo Switch 2.So no its not worth it,its overpriced anyway. If you want a Switch buy the first one over the second one.And if you want something great buy a WII or N64 there where also great games on it.And In the Handheld area a NDS or a Nintendo 3ds.But that is just my Opinion .

It is absolutely not worth it yet. I'd wait until there's more than two games on it. I mean, I did buy it for literally just Donkey Kong because it looks amazing, BUT DON'T FOLLOW MY EXAMPLE!!!!!!

EVEN AFTER SAYING THAT I WILL ALSO SAY THIS: you can play the SEGA Ages version of OutRun on a big screen that's right in your face in the middle of the night after a long shift for like an hour and that's pretty good.

In a year or so the answer will be yes, but right now it's kind of a hard sell if you have any other modern platform to play games on. Not many exclusives and that won't really change for another year or two. Unless Mario Kart or Donkey Kong are your absolute favorite things on the planet and you NEED the latest entry in each franchise, you can wait a while.

I finally got around to trying out the improved Switch 1 games, namely Super Mario Odyssey, and HDR looks AWFUL on Switch 1 games. It's not real HDR, it appears like it just puts Switch 1 games in an HDR container. I have my settings correct on my LG OLED (72-73 clicks on first screen, 6-8 clicks on second screen), Switch 2 games look good, but I'll be turning off HDR when I play Switch 1 games. The colors are so dull and washed compared to SDR for these games.

It's a hard sell especially for those who a) aren't big Nintendo fans, b) already have a Switch, and c) already have other consoles IMO. It's basically a Switch pro to me, which is what the OLED already kinda was to me a year ago when I upgraded to it. I don't like having too many consoles and already have a million great old games to play, so I won't be buying one any time soon. If I want to play portable Cyberpunk, I'll play it on my Portal lol.

The only way I might be convinced to buy one is if the purported FFIX remake is a Switch 2 exclusive which is unlikely to say the least...Most third party exclusives are timed these days, anyway. Yes, I will be happy for the next several years with my OLED, PS5, and PC. Not that it will hurt Nintendo any...
