Translation Description: Made by Gohn99. For Initial D’s 30th anniversary, we worked on a full Chinese fan translation of Initial D: Street Stage (PSP). While doing that, I realized there’s still no real English patch out there… so I figured, there might be people interested in it as well? Since I already built all the tools and scripts for the Chinese patch, a lot of the heavy lifting is done: unpacking/repacking, text + texture compiling, a plugin for variable-width fonts, and even a plugin to implement in-game voice subtitles. English now actually looks clean now, which was a big hurdle. […]

Oh wow, wasn't expecting an English patch. Funny enough, the translation would've been quicker if the english script from IDASv3 (Initial D Arcade Stage ver 3) was used since this is technically the same game, only differences being that the PSP version removed Miki's race and the english version had localized names (thanks Tokyopop, very cool).

As for the game itself, I love it. The way how the rivals are handled is the best in the arcade series (the Akina gauntlet is packed) and it has my favorite list of eurobeat songs. I wish the PSP version ran at 60 fps like in the arcade.

Man this anime is sooo good. If you haven't seen it, at least watch season 3 episode 1. It's the entire season in a movie, it's epic!

The Taito Battle Gear 3 was really good driving was like butter smooth 4 me
Really great game, specially after you figure out how be able to play in the "carrer mode" finding a working code in the internet to create your profile, then you will be able to upgrade your cars and unlock more stuff. I just wish this game could have more content, specially more tracks.

But my GOAT for touge racing is and still Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift 2 (i play the european version, Kaido Racer 2, published by Konami). Peak content, car selection, progression, touge selection, RPG elements, and great music. Its not a perfect game, have many flaws, but i accept it for what it is, and no other driving game.

English patched et's go!
Thanks for the upload.

Gonna get you like a Space Boy
Woah, woah, woah, woah
I'm ready, babe!!

Niiiiiiiiiiiice!

Although I think I'll be patient and wait for the patch to be a little more polished.

Not my cup of tea, even as a Initial D hardcore fan, because i don´t like at all what Sega do with this franchise year after year with their arcade stages. And before someone tells me "this is arcade at his purest form", do yourself a favor and search about Battle Gear 3 (Arcade and PS2) made by Taito, that is my bias as what arcade touge games should feel.

That said, even someone alergic to arcade stages in general, there are a lot of valor in this game, from the touges selection, to the Initial D related content (amazing eurobeat selection from the 1st till the 4th stage), hundreds of collectible artworks, nice cutscenes, different modes, all packed with a great presentation.

For the lack of good PSP games in the same niche, this is a must-have.
Pro-tip: get used to play with manual shifting. This game dont have e-brakes, some corners only will be possible to be made clearly knowing how use accel, brakes and downshifting. I will make the game feels a bit less annoying to watch.

Such a great game, we play it online pretty often.

Thats badass !! I always oogled this game on the PSPISO forum but never knew what it was till i watched the anime years later and wanted to be translated . Finally i can give this game a shot .

thank so much!!! as a initial d fan, this is really amazing!!! (the last races are so fck hard)
Yeah, the game is really good. I was going to play some races just to get screenshots and ended up almost playing through the whole story. It's really faithful to the anime in the way they hype you up and trash talk during races.
