Let this be known that a lot of games on PSN still haven't had a sale and only the top games ever go on sale, where in steam your game you wishlist will go on sale regardless if the publisher is still owns that game.

Really, it just confirms in the fact that the console market as it is today has more nails in its coffin than Classic Atari back during their reign in the late 70s going into the early 1983. I can see Nintendo chugging along. (I mean come on people. Nintendo would never do so unless something major happens that forces them to port over to PC.)

But I think that Sony's decision to stop this right after they just deleted a whole bunch of movies a few day prior along with killing the PS3 and PSP stores is just something that really makes you think, "What is the whole point buying this?" Combined with the price hikes that both Sony and Mircoslop are doing right now.

I kinda was getting to become a PC gamer back when I was experimenting with Steam back in 2017 and the whole 2020 PS5 COVID thing just really grinds my gear. But this decision made me glad that I pulled the trigger go all in on PC gaming.

Gaming is going to go through a rough patch due to hardware shortages and corporate greed, but people have been whining that gaming is dead for like 10 years now, and I just do not agree. Especially if you don't care about FOMO, there hasn't been a better time to be a gamer. The old vanguard of AAA studios are a bunch of corporate zombies, but mid sized studios can make games of impressive production value, ambition, and scope with reasonable budgets teams of 50-250, and smaller groups and individuals can make games with amazing concepts, avant garde art direction, and addictive game play loops, while still looking decent and being playable on older computers.

Emulation is also more accessible than ever. An old $50 office computer and some peripherals from eBay is a competent replacement for consoles up to and including the Gamecube, Playstation 2, and Nintendo Wii. There are tons of emulation handhelds at various levels of price and performance. If you're really struggling with money right now, even budget smart phones are capable of playing most PSP games, something you probably already have.

Most old game consoles are pretty easily modded with a step by step tutorial and some patience, some even revivng old multiplayer functionality, and even developing countries sometimes have internet with good enough speeds to grabs a pretty big library of games.

Seeing console gaming go in this direction really does suck. I game on PC now, but I still wanted consoles to remain viable for the sake of competition. Consoles are become less consumer friendly AND more expensive, but even those have an alternative in preconfigured, console-like PC gaming devices like the Steam Deck or ROG Ally, a market that's growing reasonably fast lately. I'm already see used Steam Decks for $400-500 on eBay and PC handhelds will likely get cheaper as the market gets saturated.

There are a lot of positives for the accessibility and creative freedom of gaming if you look past the old guard of AAA mainstream gaming.

it wont kill gaming but it will hurt it. piracy rates will rise even higher, the companies will use the raising piracy rates to justify cracking down on it harder including on games they dont even support anymore, dumb laws will get passed that continue to help the corps and hurt the consumers and my milkshake still wont be ready in under 30 minutes at steak & shake.

oh physical prices across the board will raise too, people are going to start panic buying not just ps5 titles but physicals for other systems too like ps4 and ps3. physical games that are already more expensive than they should be will be even higher because physical games will be seen as a rarity or collectors item, more so than some circles already try to paint them as gg

I will echo the same thing as some users who have posted this already but I too also do not think it's the end of gaming, especially mostly for the younger generation who have grown up with this newer format, these are the majority of individuals who mostly have digital everything, MTX, subscriptions, PS + etc and do not really care for this announcement/change.

For me I think PS5 is it for me though, the very last console for sure and GTA 6 being the farewell game to end it.

The only thing dead is exclusive gaming, "you can play this game only on my platform or you can't play it" is something that's dead now, only Nintendo can survive this because of the Nintards but when people outside Japan get fed up of Nintendo anticonsumers moves the exclusive gaming will end for good.

I think this basically made people more self aware. Just like you said, What is the point on buying games on PSN when you can just buy games on Steam? People are starting to wake up and realize that PC gaming is the better investment as it always was.

This is not true. Steam dosen't mark down the games they have on sale, the publisher has to set that price. Also games on PSN go on sale all the time. This is completely untrue.

Gaming as a whole isn't dead but the console scene is a whole another story. I would say AAA gaming is not in a great state while the indie scene is in a resonance state.

I know i dont wanna post this, but I had to get it out of my chest. But this morning, I found out Sony will stop making games being released on physically in 2028, and will be digitally only from now on. When i heard of the news, I was like the what in the f**k man. I was very depressed the whole day to hear about that, because usually physically releases are much cheaper to get than digital, and it was your copy to keep right for as long as you own it right. I mean it's bad enough, GTA VI will be on digital only, and now this, i also heard PS3 store is shutting down, but at least that was actually intentional giving the fact the PS3 store existed for 20 years since the launch of the console. But anyways, do you think the future of gaming is just over as we know it guys, or we just have to use PC at this point. Because I recently got a Gaming laptop at my local pawn shop for $500, and its ASUS Rog Strix 2019 that has a Intel Core I7 9th gen, 8GB ram, and a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 card, it plays emulators well im using pcsx2 for PS2 games including God of war 2 which is a demanding title just well, I do have to leave the laptop plugged in tho, in order to run it in full speed, because if i play it unplugged it will stutter badly, so im not sure if its just normal for laptops to do this even on high end ones.

Vote with our wallets. I think completely de-funding Sony and other companies that do anti-consumer practices like this really is the best possible option for us now. Purchasing is no longer owning. If they can take back what we bought at any time without warning and there is no physical option, it isn't safe giving said company our money. No company should legally be able to change the terms of the sale after the sale has been made.

yeah i do, at least on Steam I can get a steam key for cheap even if this game never went on sale would be cheaper. PSN games even the most obscure rarely if at all go on sale, Hell Godzilla on the PS4 has been delisted and can't be purchase unless you own the physical copy, this also includes timed DLC like GT5-6 cars. At least on Steam i can get keys for games that are delisted.
