Onii-chan, watching me??
(1984 film)

excited in love GIF

I feel he would be called more Onii-sama or Nii-sama. The sama suffix is commonly used for a person you hold more respect or someone in great power.

Probably.... or He might be referred to as Aniki.
Yes, in the book Big Brother isn't about brother as in biological siblings but brother as in "comrade" (like brother in arms) who helps you follow their ideology the best way.

Of course, he scolds you like an actual big brother if you stray too far from the "good path".

I'm overthinking this topic that was made as a joke but Big Brother is much more complex as a character and concept in the book than just a picture of a guy: he's anybody and nobody at the same time, he's the party yet he's also the people, he's you and he's me. In short he's the Alpha and Omega for the IngSoc party and Oceania to the point he may even outlive everybody (like symbols do after the fall of the organism that created them).

he's kinda a farce and at the same time a secular authoritharian god

He's kinda a farce and at the same time a secular authoritarian God.
I'm even wondering if the inner party even believe in him or not (then again we barely know what happens among them).

The nerd answer is that お兄ちゃん is typically used for an elder sibling as a term of an endearment, therefore お兄さん or ビッグ・ブラザー is more fitting. The latter being used in the book as a direct translation via katakana to denote it being a character rather than a term.

Nah, in Eastasia they call it Obliteration Of The Self. Still exactly the same as IngSoc or NeoBolshevism. Onii-Chan's boot will stamp on your face forever no matter where you are.
