PS5 I'm thinking of selling my PS5

So I'm sure we all heard the news that Sony is ending all physical game production for the PS5 in 2028.
Which seriously disgusted me and made me regret owning the console in the first place, so now I'm looking in to selling it.
There are a few consoles I am interested in replacing it with, like downgrading to the PS4! It can play most games I want to play on my current gen PS5 with Blu-ray support added atop of that!
Or a PS Vita or 3ds, they are both very easily moddable and customizable!
And probably many more systems I could get when I sell it!
So, now I ask, are there any good systems I should look into buying?
I'm genuinely curious now!

Personally I think the future of affordable gaming is in retro handhelds. You can get an Ayn Thor for less than the price of a New 2DS/3DS.

How about you keep your PS5 so you can play your PS4 games? I currently do that and games play wayyyy better on it compared to PS4 Pro. Heck even PSVR1 games are stable compared to PS4, plus you have a nice selection of present day games if you do so, since in 3 years theyll kill off the PS4.

I'd honestly be very tempted to get a couple of PS3s with the money you are gonna get — one, I'd turn into a high-end emulation box (GB and Virtual Boy all the way up to PS2) and the other, I'd use as intended while stocking up on heavily discounted games.

i have had a ps5 for 3 or 4 years - boxed and unopened , i can't find many games i actually want - every shop i have tried seem to have quite a poor selection.

Ps4 is a Good Investment honestly but a Ps3 is a great choice if you Mod it to.

But its your choice in the end and you should do what you really want you also could invest this Money to upgrade your Pc.

This. I thought about getting a PS5 to play new games and the previous generation. It never happened though because there was never a game for the 5 I had to play. Astrobot was the closest.

I have Astrobot and it's pretty good!
I'll wait for it to get a PC release if you want to play it tho, I cannot recommend the PS5 for anyone with the prices being raised multiple times.

I'd say, buy a modded Switch (or mod it yourself if you have soldering experience) or a modded PSVita or a 3DS if you find one at a reasonable price or one of those emulation handhelds if don't care as much about original hardware (or maybe all of the above, I think the PS5 money could be barely enough).

I'm keeping mine since it's probably the last PS with a disc drive. I'll probably buy another disc drive or two before they stop making those, too.

I have a PS5 (not pro) with a disc drive, so I'll just keep that for ps4/ps5 games for the foreseeable future.

I bought the disc drive version so I could play my ps4 games, but honestly I only have like 2 physical ps5 games. The rest are digital. So I guess digital only wont affect me too much (although I still think its gross they are doing away with physical completely)

I had a PS5 with the PSVR2 headset. GT7 was pretty good with it, but with hardly any games that interested me I just ended up selling it all. Couldn't justify keeping it all for one game.

The Old 3DS & XL seems to go for around £80-150 in the UK but the New models...I have no idea why they are at those prices.

It's still fun to collect for the PS4, if you don't have one I'd keep it just for that. No sense in downgrading if you already have a disc PS5.

I'm only keeping mine because something happened to make my PS4 stop working (that's actually why I finally got a PS5 in the first place). It's mostly working as a replacement PS4, for me (though I do have around 20 physical PS5 games)

Okay so after reading all of the replies I've come to a conclusion.
I'll try to sell my PS5 at my local Game X Change, if they don't have anything I want, I'll keep my PS5 and collect PS4, any PS5 that interest me, and Blu-ray's untill I can sell it for something I'd want instead.
I think that's a good plan!

I sold mine and bought a PC in 2024... Then a power surge happened and that PC got fried. Now I have a craptop and a PS2.

I kinda miss that PS5, but the prices for games were too exorbitant. I'm thinking of getting a Series S since I own lots of digital Xbox games and they're really cheap here in Brazil.

i support you, i barely have played on my PS5 since i bought it in 2024, the unique exclusive game that ive enjoyed of that console is Ratchet and Clank Drift Apart, the other exclusive games doesnt seems so interesting to me, excepting maybe Demon's Soul's, ive spend more hours playing another consoles as the PSP, PS2, PSvita and Gamecube than the PS5 haha!, and also has no sense having a PS5 now that the physical media there is going to not being available, for only digital games The PC offers so much better prices than the PS store, and also has the possibility of install mods and almost the same catalog than PS5, also there exist so much stores as GOG or Epic Games Store so you can save a lot of money in the process, maybe the cost of the hardware would be more expensive but saving enough you will have for sure a better experience than in a PS5
