I do kinda regret getting heated yesterday about all of this. I was already mad about something very similar to what happened here prior to checking this website and I kinda snapped when I had to hear about yet another case of LGBTphobia. I really do not take this type of stuff very well, mainly because of all the stories I hear about them getting kicked out of homes solely for being gay, trans, or whatever else, and hell, it even happened with one of my best friends recently. So a lot of my actions were a heat of the moment sort of thing.

I'm not sure what is right or wrong in that case, there are situations where kids can make their own decisions over their parents. Like teenage pregnancy, in some cases teenagers can get abortions on their own. It depends on the country/state.

We can all disagree and have nuance on opinions. Trans individuals I read feel trapped in a body that is not their’s and the longer they wait can cause suicidal thoughts and actions.
I think child protection services should intervene if a parent is trying to subjugate their offspring to cruelty.

I don’t understand the nuances of this and am just an outsider though (I am a cishet white dude)

It doesn't mean it's right. Your entire stance is as rigid as a brick wall, and it's important to let people make their own decisions based on their understanding and experiences themselves, not allow people with little understanding of someone else's circumstances make decisions in their stead when it regards the fate of their future and what they will or will not be allowed to do regarding their own bodies.

I don't feel its my place to comment on trans issues because I'm just a regular hetero guy. Also, since it has been politicized some may see it as pushing politics (even though it shouldn't be).

It’s important to realize we are all cogs in a machine. Yes we all possess some facet of agency but many of our beliefs stem from that of a white supremacist capitalist patriarchy. I am not saying the oppressed should invert the oppression on their oppressors. We all deserve equality and those who do have bigoted thoughts and actions within reason should be helped as well.

I am personally more in the Believe that everyone should wait till there 18 and that is even to young if you ask me as most people at 18 are not really mature.
A kid also believes many things and a Kid wants many things they also believe in the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus so I would not let them make such Important decisions just because they believe it.
It may sound cruel to some people but I rather take a logical approach.

There are some things in the world that you simply do not condone. I know that firsthand (TL;DR father and his clan have some incredibly atrocious views on a number of things, and though I have no affiliation with the LGBTQ+ community, I can try to sympathize with their plight due to having gone through an ordeal that I'm not sure anyone would get out of unscathed).

That said, I wouldn't worry about this so much, Spike. People crash out on the regular for simply getting a warning, these days. It really shouldn't be that difficult to not act like an idiot and think before you post something, but apparently that needs to be written in stone because a lot of people don't seem to either use their brain or can't keep their mouth shut in a topic they don't belong in.

The longer transgender people wait to transition, the more of the opposite gender hormones are taken on than of their personal self/identity, which suffers by taking on hormones that don't belong.

I think these kinds of decisions are best left to individuals who are in the same demographic as the ones these laws are meant to dictate.

Well it shouldn't be considered "political" when it comes to basic human rights. It's not my fault people have their head so far up their asses that they're still debating it, if you don't agree to the right to life as the gender you prefer/identify as, then you don't belong on a team making these decisions for other people.

Furthermore, this all should have been done being discussed long ago, but it doesn't inherently make it about politics, the only way politics keeps creeping into the discussion is as 'politics' themselves, meaning it's really only as political as you make it.
