Well what is the point in a death curse spell that everybody is able to do at any point, why have a duel when you can just use that spell at any time

I can't believe fanboys tried to turn that flawed idea into a real sport.
I mean come on, you are in a private school where you duel with magic so surely that is your school sport much like fencing would be in private schools. Not some silly flying game with far too many balls in play where catching one of them ends the game even though the other team may be leading 140-0, dumb, but again Harry Potter always was even before Rowlings comments, none of her books are very well written at all which should piss more people off than her comments.
Read the Discworld series or even The Worst Witch series if you want good British magical literature.
