Like anyone who watched JP when they were kids, I was absolutely mesmerized by it.
I even remember asking my dad where this magical place was, already trying to work out how to make it there on my own.
It truly is a great movie, and a groundbreaking achievement in the history of cinema.
Watching it again as an adult, though, sucks the magic right out of the experience, and makes it seem reckless rather than daring — your grown-up brain destroys it with the same detached glee with which it burns the entirety of Harry Potter to the ground. You just see the wires and flaws now!
But I don't want to slam a movie I love (I'm not a YouTuber, after all >:D), just to invite discussion on how utterly fucked do you think we would be if we went ahead with this... because there's no doubt that we would get fucked, the only question is how much.
My guess is that we would probably be fine as long as the animals retain "petting zoo" sizes and behaviors, but then we would be smashing bombs with sledgehammers (so to speak) — I just don't see a moat or electrical fence stopping a living, breathing tank with a vengeance and that's aware of premium dishes it had never seen just hovering outside its enclosure.
Keeping them all fed would probably be a logistical nightmare, too (without letting them freely tear into each other, that is, but I think that would go against the spirit of reviving ancient monsters in limited numbers).
*Stares back at wall of text* Oooof! That's some overanalyzing xD
