I want more sonic spinoffs

Not to mention Two Point Campus and Like a Dragon Sega keeps talking about all the time.
Like a Dragon is Yakuza but yeah.

I forgot about Two Points, I've only watched gameplay of TP Hospital.

For Sonic Spinoffs, there's hardly no other spinoff to do. We have Spinball, Mean Bean Machine, the racing games, two fighting games, that random tennis game, a terrible party game, a terrible RPG game on DS, and the Olympics with Mario.
The tennis game is by the same guys behind Sonic All-Star Racing right? I also remember Sega Pinball Party on the GBA.

Do we really want a Dr. Sonic, Paper Sonic or Sonic's Picross?
There's a Picross S Sega Master System and Genesis edition and I wouldn't mind a sequel for it.

I concur.

Dare I say: they're better than the actual games.
I hesitate to go that far tbh because many of the fangames are 2D, something that SEGA has mostly moved away from save Mania and Superstars and in that regard a comparison would be kinda unfair due to how differently they’re gonna play. Like comparing Sonic Unleashed to Sonic 3.

I’ll say this though, those fan games are what the handheld Sonic game library should’ve looked like instead of whatever the fuck happened with 3DS Sonic games and quality wise, they’re what SEGA should’ve been doing since the 2000s.

And also yeah SRB2 is definitely the best 3D Sonic game.

For the 3DS Sonic games I find Generations to be somewhat decent (while being a bit too easy). I would've preferred a proper new Rush entry though.

We got more 3D fangames lately as well.

So, uh...you guys heard of the Shadow The Hedgehog trademark news?

Agreed, they need to get ther spit together, they have EVERYTHING to make a proper Mario Party, instead of being set in the "Modern" timeline, ¿Why not set it in the "Classic" one? I second the RPG too, the fans has shown how well that could work *Cough* FF Sonic *Cough*

It came out in 2006.

I'm wondering why Bioware fumbled this when they've made Mass Effect and Dragon Age.
Two words:

Ken Penders

I talked with my uncle who works at Sega and he said no.
Snap Dissolve GIF

I just want a dang Sonic rhythm game. One like Project Diva, or even like the Kingdom Hearts one where you moved and fought enemies to the rhythm of a given song.

Because Sonic is an animal and kinda boring as rpg character, no princess to save etc, otherwise tgere would be a flood spinoffs, it just doesnt sale.
The Archie comic stories/characters were pretty compelling. Too bad the writer ended up being a psychotic ass-hat lol The Freedom Fighters vs Robotnik was a great set-up that could easily be worked into an RPG

But at least we got the Freedom Planet fan-games

I concur.

Because most of them are copying the best games in the franchise. It's not that hard when the blueprint is already there for you. Sonic Mania was damn near plagiarism.

It cannot be plagiarism since it was officially endorsed by Sega.

Furthermore Mania's remixed levels weren't 1:1 copies of pre-existing stages and it has featured original Zones as well.

If "it's not that hard" then why did Sega and the Sonic Team struggle to do another great game? Evening Star are just being competent (like LizardCube).

Sonic was great in the sense that his games were about ecology.

Mario is a fat smelly Italian plumber who does the same thing over and over again. Mario is a cult brainwashed the masses.
No, he had one of the biggest variety of games. Assuming he does the same thing over and over again either mean you've only played the NSMB games or didn't play any of his games outside of the NES ones.

Sonic Mania was damn near plagiarism.
That’s not how plagiarism works first of all. Plagiarism is used to maliciously take credit for someone else’s works without permission. Sonic Mania is official and published by Sega. That is not plagiarism. To ensue this is plagiarism is disingenuous.

Plagiarism is Yusup Dalmaz claiming to have composed a bunch of existing PC-98 music when its demonstrably false but still going as far as to copy strike channels and putting up Spotify links for stuff he doesn’t own.

Plagiarism is when 5pb stole code directly from a separate port of DoDonpachi DaiOuJou without express permission from Arika or CAVE

Plagiarism is when the composer of Budokai got busted for lifting multiple copyrighted songs without crediting while being paid for it

Plagiarism is Tommy Tallarico claiming credit for a bunch of songs he didn’t compose, even one that later got a remix in Sonic & the Black Knight

Plagiarism is NOT when a Sonic game decides to be a throwback to previous Sonic games

Second, this also implies that Sonic Generations is plagiarism since a lot of either classic or modern levels are taken directly from the games and that’s kinda funny

I forgot how literal nerds are:rolleyes:

Also, you guys missed the part where I said "damn near"

That also implies that Sonic 4 Episode 1 is also plagiarism because Splash Hill, Casino Street, Lost Labyrinth and Mad Gear are just Green Hill, Casino Night, Labyrinth and Metropolis Zone.

And I'll say it again but Evening Star's game was published by Sega and the levels are altered versions of pre-existing ones (especially their second act such as how Chemical Plant has the bouncing gel gimmick).

Even Donkey Kong Returns took many gimmicks and environments from DKC 1 on the SNES yet isn't plagiarism. Ditto with NSMB taking many themes from Super Mario Bros 1 and 3 (while reusing the Mario 64 DS engine and its gimmicks).

I could also argue that fangames are also reusing a ton of stuff from Sonic games, Sonic 2 HD included.

But the thing is that it's not even "damn near" since Sega and the Sonic Team also asked them to redo previous stages.

When Sonic Mania was still being called "Sonic Discovery" it was only meant to feature Studiopolis, Press Garden, Mirage Saloon and a final level that would become Titanic Monarch. Only when it became Mania that they've added older levels with a remix.

Digressions aside I'm legitimately surprised that Sonic never got its own spin on rhythm game since his OST is quite renowned.

You misused the word and are surprised that people pointed out you misused the word. Plagiarism is not get out of jail card to describe something for using previous ideas or a similar concept, it’s full on theft.

Plus “damn near” implies mostly by default so I don’t know what the point of that tidbit was. Saying something is mostly plagiarism doesn’t change anything about the conversation.

idk i want sonic adventure 3 tbh
Sonic Adventure 3 was released without using that name, it was Sonic 2006, it is very similar to Adventure 1, I think the name was changed at the last minute so as not to tarnish the name of Adventure.

I doubt it was ever called Sonic Adventure 3 given that its aim was always to reboot the franchise. It was also a bit of a trend back then for reboots to just reuse the name of the first game like Metal Slug (3D) or Devil May Cry (featuring Donte from the Donte Will Smile games)

And even if it's not meant to be Adventure 3 it's still basically Adventure 1 and 2 mixed together but in HD.

I've always seen Heroes as such simply because of its emphasis on the number 3 (with the teams).

The big issue is that Sonic 2006 is supposedly a reboot yet still took the events of Sonic Adventure 1, 2, Heroes and Shadow into account so it's confusing.

Metal Slug 3D is technically part of the main series timeline but it's not like it should matter.

It's not like all of the Sonic fan games are just copies of the old games.

There have been at least a few Sonic fan games that had him moving arond a 3D environment, and honestly they had a really food understandign of how controlling a really fast character should work in a 3D space, right down to the level design and layout.

I can't even remeber the names anymore, but I remember playing one or two of those fan games and thinking that Sega should just hire the fucker to teach Sonic Team how to make Sonic work in 3D.
