OK, so there's this game I want called Saboteur SiO. It was going to be released on Steam but for some reason it was cancelled so it was released on the Epic Games Store instead.

Here's what I'm thinking, whatever PC games I want that aren't on Steam I'm going to see if the Epic Games Store has them instead. Sound good?

The Epic Store smells. Like it emanates from your PC speakers. But yeah, I bought Borderlands 3 and Sifu on there because of exclusivity. I was tempted to get Kingdom Hearts until it finally came to Steam. Usually games come out later on Steam. So if you aren't too hyped about the game you should just wait.

Ok but the game I'm considering buying straight up had its steam release cancelled and it's been on the EGS since April 28th, 2023.

It's on GOG. Personally I'd prefer that store front over EGS.

Also, the game was on Steam previously but removed for allegations of fake reviews.

So Steam removed all of their games because they were flooding their own games with fake positive reviews?

Yes. The article says it was a bunch of new account with less than 1 hour of playtime leaving positive reviews. They also banned anyone talking about fake reviews from the forums. This was about 2.5 years ago going by the article date so I guess it was never resolved.

Definitely should get it on GOG then, but man is that making me question the quality of the game that they had to bot their reviews. Let me know how the game is man.

I don't use Epic but if they still give out free games every month then there's no need to not have one? Eh I don't since I don't want to use their launcher. GOG for the win with no offline play hassle and no drm files for easy backup storage and share.

It's pretty good, I got hundreds of free games from them every week they give away free games to keep.
"Free Now" claim and keep.

Some of the games I got, some are trash but some are AAA also some cool indie games.
And I didn't even remember to claim all, nor this is all i have, and I never spent 1 cent.

Anything I want, I get. The game the topic creator asked for? A three second download. My average d/l speed is 15-20 megs a second.

After careful consideration (and a lot of polling) I'm going to go to GOG instead. As for The EGS, I think I'll only go to them if that's the only place to get a given game on PC like Rocket League.

Epic Game Store sucks so much that I even stopped bothering to collect their free games, I don't even use their launcher at all anymore for the ones I've got and if I like one of those games I just buy it on Steam on a sale if I already don't have it there or GOG which I'm trying to support and build a collection there.

Heck some guy had a Youtube channel dedicated to just announcing the new free games and he quitted due to loss of interest from himself and others, at its peak he was getting over 40k views nowadays he was getting under 100~50 views ::lol it is THAT bad.

Who knew that trying to bribe people with free games and forced exclusivity wouldn't work in the long run?.

I knew this would happen since it's unsustainable, to keep the hype up they would need to give away AAA titles all the time which probably cost a small fortune and that fortnite money is not infinite ::eek also Epic's CEO Tim Sweeny's attitude never helped and his weird jealousy and hateboner for Valve is cringe.

Tim Sweeney is a weirdo. I've never liked him.

Well I tried to see if any of the games I have on my steam wish list that were delisted were on GOG. You know how many I found?

Three...Just...Three

Out of the over 20 games on my wish list that were delisted I only found THREE!

Welp, I got an EGS account but only for Rocket League and not anything else seeing as it's the only place you can get Rocket League on PC anymore.

Yeah making Rocket League exclusive to the EGS after being on Steam first for a long time was a huge dick move, one of many they've made.

I mean sure, If you actually want to pay for something GOG is probably the best because there's no launcher or drm

One problem, out of the 20+ games that were delisted from my Steam Wish list I only found 3 on GOG. That's kind of what I wanted it for.
