I finally finished ff7.

Y’know, now I’m slightly curious how someone who never played games before ended up on a hobbyist site like this one. I’m actually really interested in hearing the thought process.

I came here looking for roms of ps1 games after watching a couple of videos about them. I've always been fascinated by old games and games in general, I just never really gave them a shot until now. I stayed once I saw how many systems were on here and that there was an active forum here. That's a hard thing to find nowadays. My next stop is Crisis Core (I have to see Genesis. He's the reason I started playing ff7) but I will be sure to check out the other games recommended to me! Thank you for being so kind!

He’s quite beautiful indeed.

he really is
he is a soul fragmented and imperfect but carries on with good in his heart and that makes him beautiful to me

Yes!! He's a fascinating character

Lol, getting into JRPGs was really a sudden thing for me

I also recommend playing Valkyrie Profile, another fifth-generation era JRPG game that is excellent.

I also highly recommend Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, two excellent games.

role playing games are my favourite genre and the original playstation console certainly has a lot of my favourites on it
the original playstation is probably my favourite console for that reason - mountains of role playing games and horror games

You should also warn you need to be ready to abuse save states for attack timing... Or maybe I just really suck ::sadkirby
just transform every chance you get and mash that button. lol

The Legend of Dragoon wasn't developed by Square, the game was developed by Sony and most of the developers worked on games such as Omega Boost, so you're wrong.
yeah then they made Dark Cloud which was also good!

Holy shit. That took a month and was my first ever JRPG. I never played any video games before this (besides stuff like stardew valley and minecraft) but wow. I didn't realize video games could be this cool.
But did you beat the 3 Weapon monsters? Ultimate weapon, Ruby weapon and Emerald weapon. Ultimate and Ruby were handy enough to beat after a small few tries but the real beeeyotch was the Emerald weapon. Side quests, but have you really finished FF7? Emerald is a LONG fight with a lot of tweaking of materia, etc.. When ye see the bastard fizzle out after the last hit, it's quite a rush.

Congrats on your victory. I remember when I beat it I had an ear infection and could barely hear the music. I remember it clearly because it was February 14th 1998. I got the game in November of the previous year. It took so long to beat because I was constantly messing with materia and playing mini games. If a game has a ton of side distractions you better believe that I'm gonna get distracted.

That materia set-up, further into the game was the best thing about it, for the time. I think it was, probably, the game that grabbed me the most in the console age.

Haven't played og ff7 yet. I did play Crisis Core on PSP. Started Remake then got distracted. What's best version/hack of ff7 to play?
I would just play the og. Hacks for previous FF's make sense because, while good, there are many frustrating/grindy elements about those games, for example, as much as I love FFT (my favorite), some JP reqs are way too much and it hurts the fun.

I can't recall anything in FF7 that felt annoying/unnecessary, gameplay wise. Maybe chocobo breeding? But that isn't that bad, and I recall kind of fun. But I just beat ruby to get my gold chocobo now :P

The chocobo breeding was a balls alright. Some of the movement through midgard was annoying. The first disc was really exciting/annoying.

i like all the little mini games.

I definitely could've done way more than I did but it had been a month and I really wanted to move on to crisis core

I'd say that the chocobos are not super necessary. But I also hated trying to catch them so I never breeded them. They're cute in the remake though

I cannot count the times I cried playing ff7

I would but I think my computer would explode
Not talking about the full remake, but the PSX hack that's in Repo.

-_- you do know FF7 was a collab with both Squaresoft and Sony(mostly after their issues with Nintendo at the time)...the sony team that did ff7 also did legend of dragoon. This fact has been known gaming history.

You and me both. I think the water girl and the purple martial artist had the least amount of combo inputs for attacks, but i haven't played it since early 2000. Sad to say i played on real hardware so no save states for me.

Okay, so tell me which guys at Sony worked on Final Fantasy VII.
