How we all feeling about these remakes?

These remakes are reminding me of how manga gets popular to the point where they adapt it into a anime, then sometimes live action. Keeps people employed in different sectors at least, but the spotlight on the remakes do tend to bury the new IP's sometimes.
Just taking Square Enix as an example, while the games ain't to my liking I am glad to see them bringing out stuff like Octopath and Triangle Stratagy,
I'm guessing they'll also get the remake treatment in the future too.

In the past it was a good way to revive a classic that by today's standards was bad/average.
for example: Metroid zero mission is a better experience than Metroid 1.

Unfortunately, nowadays it is just another cheap way to make money, even if the result is only mediocre or completely unnecessary.

Dude, this remake is a huge waste of potential...

And this is nonsense on the level of relaunching GTA 5!

Not gonna lie, that boxart looks bland. It looks like they just screenshotted the game and slap it on the cover.

Its a reach, but THPS3&4 remakes are there own games, since they dont use anything from the originals besides the maps and skaters.
From what I've heard, 3 is fully intact. It was 4 that has been made to be more like 1-3. While that bothered a lot of people, I'm not particularly bothered by it since I played 1-3 A LOT more than 4. I've always preferred the 2 minute run structure.

I don't have a problem with remakes as long as they follow two rules, that they are from really old consoles (mostly from the fifth generation back) and that they don't change anything that made the original game good.

In my opinion very few remakes have managed to be so good and respectful of the original material that I can easily recommend those instead of the OG for someone who is just getting into the saga.

The best example of this is the remake of the first RE, this one just took what was already there and improved it but without changing it, it had extras and QoL hacks and so for me should be all remakes, but unfortunately remakes are made for young players who know slightly x game but its style of gameplay or graphics makes them impossible to give it a chance unless it is played and looks the same as all the other popular games of the moment.

As much as I love the REmake, I'm willing to argue that it changes a lot. Admittedly I think the changes are great and fun additions, but I don't see it as a suitable replacement for the original, even if it is an almost 1:1 remake. It's missing some of the music, the goofy live-action FMVs, the terrible voice acting, the puzzles are all different, the whole first mansion section of the game is overall less open-ended due to the restructuring of the key placements. These are all things that serve to make the REmake experience a quite different from the original game.

It's such a shame that up until about a year or two ago, there was no way to play the OG Resident Evil on modern platforms. Hell if you want to consider the Director's Cut a different version as well due to the different soundtrack, then there's still currently no way to play the original RE on modern platforms.

@Pockets I guess it depends on what things each person considers essential, in my case I think that what was changed does not affect the experience of the remake as opposed to how the remake of 2 and 3 did with their original games.

I know it isn't what you're talking about, but I'm loving the modern remaster trend. Getting older games to run well on modern systems with a few enhancements is great, and I hope it never goes out of fashion.

As for the remakes, I think that it probably sucks for people who want new super expensive, AAA experiences, but I don't.
