I have a 2019 ASUS Rog Strix G531Gt laptop with Intel core I7-9750H with NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1650 with 8GB of RAM i got at a local pawn shop for $500 just a few days ago(it was $600 at first, but they drop it for $500, so a good deal i say) . How good it is for emulation for consoles including Switch and PS3 games? Because i recently tried out a few PS2 games including God of War 2 and GTA San Andreas and they worked perfectly so far on PCSX2, I do have to leave the laptop plugged in tho for full speed Perfomance, i guess because the reason why it was stuttering when playing it unplugged to save battery life/throttling i think. But anyways, is this decent enough for emulation?

Honestly, I have no idea, but I can emulate all PS2 titles at 720p with Batocera on a 2014 Dell Vostro I bought for $50, so I imagine your laptop won't have any problems with any game. Maybe one or two Wii games.

Should be good at native res for PCSX2, methinks.

As for dolphin, I'm running a shitty laptop with an intel egpu and a 7th gen I3 and I can run Super Mario Galaxy just fine. ::cirnoshrug

The Laptop is pretty decent into playing Dolphin and Pcsx2.

With the specs, I’d say from the PS2 era back (Dreamcast, wii, gamecube, ect..) no problem... Not even going to mention 8 and 16 bit systems it will blow those out of the water... probably with some great upscaling and such.

PlayStation 3 is about where it will stutter a bit, I would say PS3 is doable... maybe some light switch games, probably with some tweaks and only at native resolution, and kept plugged in. Not a bad laptop, to be honest, for 500 bucks.

I think you will be able to run switch emulator if you later upgrade your RAM to 16GB.

but with 8, i don't think it will work.

for everything bellow it, you must be fine. (not very sure about PS3)

about the performance, consider taking a laptop base with cooler to help, they are cheap and can help the temperature, helping the cpu clock to not go down because of heat.

also check the power plan to be "max performance" when pluged.

Easiest way to find out is to just do it tbh, but given the specs it should easily be able to emulate up to ps3 without any issue.

Sounds like a great machine! Should run almost anything you throw at it, but last time I tried doing rcps3 some of the games weren't supported or had serious issues in emulation, but that was years ago! You might have a better time of it now! Make sure to report back and tell us how it turns out!

I think that you will be able to emulate OG Xbox games in Xemu(although CXBX-Reloaded has very low requirements, so maybe you would be even able to play JSRF, Orta and DOA games at 1080p on CXBX-Reloaded)

PCSX2 runs a lot of games at native on different systems no problem find once you try to go to 1080p you get problems.

I have a 2019 ASUS Rog Strix G531Gt laptop with Intel core I7-9750H with NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1650 with 8GB of RAM
so i have a laptop from dell that was a GTX1050ti, 8gb ram, intel i5 8500, and HDD
it can emulate PS3 and Xbox360 decent enough,
i've been playing games for PS2, xbox original, wii/gc, 3DS, Vita, and pretty much anything older.

switch emulation is a maybe,
8gb ram will cause either lag spikes OR game will crash from lack of memory. 100% if you can get 16gb ram you'll be a lot better off.
some games WILL work and be playable the entire time, but expect issues. but MY LAPTOP I used for a while i definitely always try and fiddle with just about everything, even trying every different emulator (i have like 3 emulators that i had to swap between to make some games work, save data can be copied between them btw.)
games my laptop could play (stilll runs better on a real switch mind you):
xenoblade X and XB1 definitive, somehow X runs ridiculously good with near no issues.
Donkey Kong country returns HD, mostly, i kept getting random game closes but played through it all.
all the DQ 2dHD 1,2,3, and 7 reimagined, with random closes (autosaves on all those games)
all the kirby games,
pokemon legends ZA, but after some time the graphics go crazy and need a reload.
metroid prime 4 and dread, work fine entirely.
Zelda echoes, link awakening, echoes has weird issues and you might swap emulators until you make it work past the intro for some reason everything past the intro isn't that buggy.
mario kart 8 (lag spikes randomly but shader caching will speed it up over time)
pikmin 1,2,3, work just fine
mario 3d world + bowser, mario wonder, mario RPG, playable through, don't expect 60fps on the 3d mario games.

games i couldnt play, got too annoying to try, or just run horribly:
Bayonetta 3
mario odyssey, i mean it spikes so damn much it got on my nerves and random crashes in a short period.
pikmin 4 just doesn't run full speed not even close (this is a maybe on playable)
xenoblade 2 and 3 crashed too often
smash bros ultimate, every like 10 matches or so my game crashes and it's just annoying to keep reloading the game, the story mode matches last a few seconds so it crashing often will suck.
zelda breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom too laggy. the switch version BOTW, read below
(NOTE THE WIIU BREATH OF THE WILD ON MY LAPTOP IT RAN 60FPS THE WHOLE GAME, play on wiiu emulator instead)
fire emblem 3 houses, it's too slow but otherwise playable just was annoying to me.
engage is slightly less slow, both FE games have a lot of skip/disable fight animation but idk it's not a fun way to play lol.
hyrule warriors or fire emblem warriors, run too slow in the flashy combat, age of calamity just didn't work for me, the others work but i gave up becaue combat was too slow.

so in summary, you might get jsut about any game to "work" just not well
a real switch would save you any issues overall basically.
