How much info about yourself are you willing to give?

Doing music and constantly networking (online and offline) leaves me exposed due to the nature of the whole thing. On a site like this or some social media thing, I don't care if I share some pics and vids. I've already put myself way out there lol. Y'all are cool on here so if I'm going to be leaving my identity out there, might as well do it and get some kindred spirits to know me better anyway.

nobody could accurately imitate my personality or my artistic output - to the point where I've mostly never seen one try - or failed miserableh at it (this is not a point for meh to brag of. just puttin yet more emphasis that I am a clear inner-outlier who doesn't back down from following on down the absurd truth's rabbithole)

n the more timid and/or self-conscious or artistically-conventional/casual types wouldn't WANT to (I would wholeheartedly agree with them - you would not want to be me except for virtual-fearlessness or energy or aesthetic base genetics. n all that is veritable double-edged swords anywey)

so, partly becuz of a:LL this - I wear meh heart on meh sleeve n put all my cards on the table whenever it seems called for or to help illustrate points about my perspective/disposition, for better or worse I am an open-book like a pop-up book xD n have absolutely no fear of consequences resulting from it - I'm a very defiant type in nature since forever ago so I almost DARE someone to try to use my info against me or 'smear campaign' slander or other manipulative agendas. don't wanna wax a scary vibe here but I have counter-consequences for the offending party - depending on intent n severity =o

but I've been online with the same ethic since the days of BBS' like multi-comm or warez hubs like IRC is a client to

Edit: forgot to mention that I put meh fuLL deck of cards on the table to scare off ppl who don't need to be wasting my time anyway. also dodges a potential bullet somewhere down the line

...there could be a sniper outside my house waiting to shoot me, however there's no reason for a sniper to be here.
This is great lmao. I'm there with ya. It wouldn't take the internet for some weirdo to find me and do something without provocation - if something crazy like that were to happen. That just comes with the territory of being outside lol.

I second this. I don't care if y'all know what I look like, I'll be a public figure anyway so it doesn't matter too much for me.

I started using the internet when most people were apprehensive about posting pictures (that would take ten thousand years to load anyway) or give their real names. I'm ok with saying my city. But I won't give my name or post a picture. In fact, there are no recent photos of me save for my ID. I have a couple childhood photos. A relative took a picture of me about 15 years ago. I realise this is a problem if something happens to me. Which is why I keep my old IDs around.

When the property manager did a background check on me she said I was like a ghost.

Despite having an online presence in several places my real identity isn't tied to any of those accounts and only two people from those places know my actual identity. I don't do social media. I've existed since the late 90s on the internet as literally nobody. I thought about making videos for fun where I talk about stuff. But why break the streak? ::winkfelix

Pretty neutral, I’m a pretty open person - of course I wouldn’t dox myself though ::apollo .

When it comes to pictures, I probably wouldn’t share images of my actual face just because I genuinely don’t have any recent photos of myself since they give me the ick (idk just makes me uncomfortable seeing myself in my photos - same goes with hearing my own voice recorded).

I don’t think anyone cares enough about me to dig into my information anyway ::cirnoshrug

In the days after one of my dogs died, I would occasionally hear him whine, even though he was already buried by that time.
It wasn't exactly pleasant.

Ok, I think I posted something too sad xD
So, to try to balance it out a bit, I'll say that my real name is Diego, and well... Well, just that, my age and country are on my profile.

I give too much information about myself for sure.

My location being in Pennsylvania is enough. It's a bigger US state than I sometimes realize it is.

I am Ghost and the Invisible.I rather don't share to much Info like the Area where I life or my Childhood or Family as they are Personal, thing like what my tribe is or what language I speak a Generally Okay for me.I also want to be as Invisible in terms of personal Information as possible.

This thread is an OpSec nightmare. Shame on all of you! (joking)

When posting in public spaces like this, it's honestly best to keep it pretty vague for the most part. There's a lot of users who you're probably never going to speak with on a personal level who will see your posts. I don't want people that I would never interact with in a personal way to know personal info about me, and with what I've learned by watching InfoSec presentations, it's just not a good idea to share anything too personal in public.

Like the most you'd maybe want to share are first name, country or age. There's not a lot someone can do with them alone. Together, there's a decent amount. Try to not post anything about local happenings that someone could research and then pinpoint that you live near the town where "that thing" happened. There's not really a risk of someone going and targeting/doxing you for no reason unless you're prolific. That, or you'd have to really piss them off.

With this all being said, if I'm friends with you, you'll get to know a lot about me. I really don't like impersonal relationships. So it's more of an "at my own discretion" kind of situation.

It's certainly better to be vague online, even if likely some corpos already have your data and information. I just personally don't care myself, if someone wants to know something about me or what I look like it's fine. I've streamed on twitch before with intentions to again and have been in a handful of youtube videos no one has seen. I'd gladly have traded anonymity for success, and since I haven't had the latter I suppose I mostly still am the former. Maybe it's also from being in my late 30s and cynical. I feel I have nothing to hide really, as giving information about myself is unlikely to lead to anything that would make life better or worse in a noticeable way. I already get spam calls daily, can't be much worse than that.

This place seems pretty safe, but there's no harm in being cautious either.

I would say nothing at all but no matter how sparse we give out information about ourselves , its maybe always too much what we gave out .

But still , i would give almost nothing if possible . Especially , while still to this day , doxxing is still often used to ruin peoples lifes for rather most trivial things .
And there are other things that would ruin our lives outside of doxxing .

Stay safe people . The interwebs doesnt know mercy . I hope no one gets doxxed . Especially in this forum .
