Well if you think about it japan is in the green, their console and games are pretty much golden when it comes to price + the Nintendo sheeps there are out of control, Sony sold 3 million ps5s in the first year in Japan, if people there like Nintendo more and the device got ACTUAL GAMES I bet in Japan alone they will sell around 5 millions if not more easily, just in the first week they will be sold out, and they will reach a million in no time worldwide ? It's kinda tricky, but I know for sure it would do just fine in my country, I guess the big struggle will be in NA+EU my guess will be NA is not gonna be a stable market for Nintendo but in the EU I guess they will need to change a lot of policies for their own good and if that worked those changes will pick up in Australia and other countries with the same policy that's either good or bad for them, but the OG market ? Japan will crush the sales, I know multiple people who just went to Japan and gonna stay there till the switch drop and they gonna buy it there, so yeah it is crazy

I say for America and Europe i say It's gonna be a popular and best seller console up until the new year then is gonna sell like the wii u did.

For Asia however it's probably gonna sell extremely well. Kinda like how the sega saturn was popular in Asia but not the rest of the world.

Hopefully they're fluent in Japanese and are going to stay in Japan afterwards because otherwise they're buying a paperweight.

Of course it's going to do gangbusters. Nintendopes are still grabbing it up while grumbling about the price online, scalpers are gonna load up by the truckload, savvy users are gonna get it because early versions are easiest to hack, and so on and so forth.

It's going to prove, as is proven time and time again, that there is no shortage of consumers willing to pay no matter what the price. It's only a matter of striking a sweet spot of 'too much' and 'just right' to maximize profit.

Nowhere near enough people are strong willed enough to deprive themselves of immediate satisfaction in order to effectively boycott. That's a delusional fantasy.

I'm sensing a lot of anger towards anyone who bought the Switch 2 on launch so I guess it's a good thing I don't plan to get one any time soon. :sneaky:

Yeah it´s silly honestly being angry on others for what they spend their hard earned money on ?
I say buy what ever you wish but don´t complain if it´s not to your liking.

But to answer that question first we need to talk about parallel universes

No but seriously they'll probably all be price scalped.

I think it will do well despite the price. Hardcore Nintendo fans will buy anything. Those that can't afford it now are just going to start saving up and trading in. Then they will do the same for the inevitable OLED version we'll see in the not too distant future.

Personally I'd wait. Launch consoles can have issues. Plus when you get in on the ground floor there aren't many new games to choose from. If you don't already have Switch 1 it might be a good buy. Otherwise just wait a bit. You could get it used or discounted.

Wonder what the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal will be.

I'd say 10 million is well within possibility console sale wise, with as much as 20m being within the realm of possibility, but it's game sales i'd worry about.

Well... we have 3,5 milion after 4 days. It's fastest selling home video game console of all time!!!

I'm not surprised it sold 3.5m at launch, nintendo didn't launch this in the holiday season for a reason.
June is a dry month for gaming as well as being far from the holiday season, they were betting on selling it now because people will have money and nothing to spend it on, which worked out for them, they also held the console back 6 months to a year to boost supply, nintendo stacked the deck for the console to sell and it worked...for now.

The thing to keep in mind is the amount of casuals buying this, casuals are the ones who only buy a few games in a consoles lifetime, if the majority of switch 2 buyers are casuals buying a new toy when they have extra money, the switch 2 will be a success in console sales at first, but will crash overall and more importantly, game sales will be utterly terrible.

- Handhelds dominate the market
- High price and not much innovation

26 million units

Quantumzillion units + 3 x 56³ - 5√7 = Nintendo gets extremly richer
(And still no new F-zero and Starfox in the future)

But somehow ..... im still not believing that its really sold that well . Maybe globally pre-orders alone from retail-stores and especially the scalpers combined with actual people that pre-ordered the console too . But as we know Nintendo way too well , they always produce under the demanded numbers .

Its murky waters again and i rather wait and see what this will be at the end . But i get Ps5/Xbox series X vibes from it .

Because F-zero and Starfox don't sell that much...
Thats true and i dont deny that point. ::dkapproves
But a man can just dream . ::sadkirby

Especially the last Starfox game was a long time ago and that WiiU game was an utter disaster . But somehow its understandable that the starfox IP isnt on Nintendos favor and lost its potential to be a huge hit again.
Nintendo fumbled the IP harder than anything else .

F-Zero on the otherhand can only go into the Heavy metal-style idea how they went with F-zero X but that is nowadays a niche audience to speak to and many fans of sci-fi racer either gave up the whole genre or sticked to other games while F-zero only had the gamecube game as the last entry which sold badly and even betrayed its own approach again in its rather middling soundtrack that isnt so outstanding like X does .
Its not really fumbling on that point but rather intentionally ignoring the franchise but with understandable reasons .

Otherwise , for me its rather a wish that Nintendo would finally go a bit more crazy again how they were with the Snes and N64 with their games and coorperations with other developement-teams and studios that would bring more reasons to get their consoles and get hyped about their games again .

I mean Blast corps still sticks out as one of Nintendos launch titles that was awesome and co-developed by Rare . Maybe not the best sold game but one that surely left one of many memorable impacts what the N64 offered and popularised the console what it does and can .

Well... You never know for sure. Perhaps we will get a new F-Zero or StarFox. Donkey Kong was dead (except port/remake and remaster) for 11 years either, and look at him... 11 years later he's back with a new 3D game, second only to Donkey Kong 64 released 26 years ago.

12 - 14 mil first year.
70 - 80 mil lifetime if prices stay the same or go up.
Ironically switch 2's biggest competitor is switch 1, especially if it gets good support for the next few years.

I mean was the PS2 the PS3's competitor back when it was costing 600 bucks?

But I agree, some less wealthy families have to buy the previous gen. The Wii Mini was basically there for that: an alternative option from the Wii U.

That's a extremely short sighted viewpoint and is one of the most memed statements the president of a company made (if you don't like what we're doing with the xbox one, we have the 360 for you), the ps3 really didn't have much competition, people love to harp on how the 360 did so well but the truth of the matter is the ps3/360/wii era is the era where gaming started going more towards mobile for casuals and pc for enthusiasts, console was still strong in the era but it was the last generation of "exclusives".

As for the switch 2, i'll say it again, the success of the switch 2 is not in console sales, the wii is often touted as a massive success but that's only if you look at hardware sales, software sales are what make a console a success and from that standpoint the wii was a commercial failure as most wii owners only bought 1-2 games in the console's lifespan, while this was enough to keep nintendo afloat it still meant that in the long run, the wii was in many ways a commercial failure, fyi the ps5 is headed in the same direction.

Overall nintendo needs the switch 2 to succeed, even if it fails i wouldn't put it past them to lie about it simply because they need the pr to say so to keep up the mindshare, right now we're heading head first into a gaming apocalypse scenario known as digital only and consoles would lose handily on the value proposition to pc's and handheld gaming devices like the steam deck in that situation so they need a reason to justify their existence in that kind of world.

Can't help but get extremely sad with this massive consumerism from Nintendo Fanboys!
The industry is screwed now that Nintendo Normalized 80 Bucks games! Over-expensive gamepads! Pay Subscription to use online multiplayer!

on top of that, the lying fuck youtubers who kept preaching to their audience to avoid buying Switch 2 the past months, and then they go and buy it on Day #1 Frame #1 Hypocrisy #1

I don't know what is worse at this point, Nintendo fanboys or Disney Fanboys ::cirnoshrug
