As a mid 30's white man who regularly attends church, I think you've greatly over estimated how widespread your chosen world view is
Both are bad, but at least during the satanic panic, Dungeon and Dragons was still published & licensed out into video games, cartoons, toys, lunch boxes despite the outcry.
Same with the backlash against that old demonic yellow mouse during Pokémania.
How about the various pushback against wrestling, violence in children media in general.
They were certainly loud.
But they never got payment processors to strong arm censorship by threatening to effectively shutting down storefronts.
Censorship is bad.
I don't care from whom is pushing it, but I will recognise that the current push that's barely 15 years old far exceeds the 50+ years of what came before.
Imagine seeing Return of the Jedi in 1983 and using it to push an anti-NSFW law because of a Slave Leia. And I say that fully knowing her depiction in that film was heavily criticised by some parental groups upon release.
But no one lobbied that the future availability of fiction moving forward should be dictated by the state under threat of terminating payment processing to any store that held a VHS/Betamax/Laserdisc.
Or that the state should use taxes to create an progressive alternative to Star Wars.
At least back then money was still accepted tender and activists weren't successfully pressuring the Government to refuse private purchases.
Lets agree to disagree and move on before to prevent this thread from being locked.
