How do you feel about seeing people "generating content" in public?

If I see anyone doing it in italy Im gonna ask them why they touched me and my sister as a child

I don't see it terribly often which is kind of surprising really given I'm in a pretty big Canadian city. Every once in awhile I do though, and if I can I'll go out of my way to photo bomb them by walking past them like some sort of rare cryptid sighting. I think it's pretty cringe personally, but that's about it.

Once I did interrupt this girl doing I guess a TikTok dance video or something, she had her phone propped up in front of her. She was just going at it right in front of an alley I use to get to my works back entrance, so I walked sideways past her while doing as weird of a face as I could pull off. She laughed it off luckily, she seemed nice.

I mean
as a vtuber is weird for me seing IRL people making content even though i am not exactly free from the weirdness. :3
to add to this also i think is should more consensual in them making stuff in public. As much as i hate journalists (sorry if anyone here is a journalist, but journalism here in Chile legit suck) as least most of them have the decency of asking if you want to be on camera. Tiktokers, youtubers and other internet "influencers" often don't ask and that legit piss me off, because some people get ridiculized on the internet without even wanting to be in the publics eyes.

I never really see it in person though I live in a big city, but then again I haven't hung around outside as much in the past 2-3 years. As far as I know the local content creator scene is pretty young (as far as people making money at it) and they all want to be liked so I haven't heard of anybody doing anything too outrageous in public. Hopefully it stays that way and we don't get Vitaly and Johnny Somali types.

If someone is doing it respectfully (ie not filming people who aren't trying to interact with them or making a show in a restaurant or something) then I don't mind. If someone was doing a food review at another table, I wouldn't bother them and it wouldn't bother me.

I saw an awkward interruption at the bus station. I wasn't involved. These two boys, about 14, were filming themselves dancing. A woman with a substance problem that I see often approached them and asked if they had a dollar. They said no. So then she asked them if they had CashApp.

I know she's zonked off her gourd. But they were kids. I wonder if they kept her in the video since they had the phone propped up on a ledge and she was in full view.

Maybe it's because I don't see it that often, but it always felt weird to me. I can barely take pictures in public let alone record a video, I get too self aware and awkward lol.

I didn't really wanna start a whole new topic for this, so I'll just dump it in here...

Social media (particularly Instagram) has a way of pumping content right on my feed, and the kinds of things they push are always the same: generically pretty people uploading DOZENS of videos and pictures a day, often getting a post up every few hours like clockwork. At some point I feel bad for these people... It's like they have forgotten how to live their lives offline.

And yes, I know they are probably getting paid handsomely for their content mill, but you just start to wonder what's the end goal here. They have, like, zero privacy and seem completely unbothered by it.

Don't even get me started on "parent-run" accounts, either. There's whole books and documentaries about how crappy that is.

I find it extremely annoying, the city that I'm in doesn't really have nice place to do shit like it so I'm not running into it everyday. But when I go up to NYC often theres always some dumbass stopping in the middle of the sidewalk to record whatever.

I don't leave my cave much other than going to class or chilling at Barnes and Noble so I haven't seen it out in the wild, but it would definitely sour my mood if I saw someone doing bogus man-on-the-street videos or the latest challenge or whatever.

I think in general people are too stupid to use a tool like the Internet for good and the normalization of social media irremediably exacerbated the problem. I miss the days when niche forums and AIM were the primary means of online communication.

If they're not being disruptive, I don't really care. If they're being an ass, then it's a problem.

I only Witnessed it once when a Person sung extremely loud filming herself while in the Forest where i was walking i found it quite annoying and not good for the wild life but i did not want end up in a argument and just walked past that person.

Waffles, a couple of years ago i was going to a museum in Recoleta at night, and between me (in the left and right side) there was many girls dancing the same coreography and filming themselves, it gaves me a dread and unnerving sense, like if was an scene of a cyberpunk game with an horror flavor, surrounded by robots or mannequins dancing to the same tune with the same movements.

This stuff doesn't happen in my Jigglycountry, hence, i don't have any feelings towards this.

In any case, if i encounter a content creator in real life i probably will fart his/her stream, then i'll quote Upanishad backwards anyway.

A few days ago I came across something else while shopping: people walking around clothes stores, pulling things from the racks, holding them up against their bodies, maybe changing into them for a quick shot, and then walking out largely without buying anything.

But, to be fair, I'm sure stores appreciate the free publicity and all, so it feels less stupid than some of the other examples already seen on this thread.

Just felt like throwing it out there, I guess, to see if your milage may vary.

if they're just recording i think its dumb but OK like as long as you're not recording strangers to show them online for X reason and keep it to just recording yourself and your own then its OK.

but if they're livestreaming in public i make sure to get close to shout words that would get the stream taken down. cmon man you cant just expose your stream like that to external threats(me).

I want to Dexter's Lab this in order to fully memorize it in case someone tries to make content out of me.

Haven't seen it yet. If I do, I'm walking the other way, and saying nothing about it.

Don't feel comfortable with the idea of possibly being window dressing for content creators.

Don't really care as long as I don't end up in their content.

Where I worked during the ebola covid aids event, nurses were twerking and shit in the hallway. I'd ruin their shit walking into it, "Get the fuck back to work."

I'm not all that disappointed when unsolicited/unstaged "prank" youtubers experience the natural social consequences of their actions.

they are not generating anything of value. all they care about is themselves. they would throw people off a cliff to their deaths just to get content. these people should be punished but sadly I'm not the one who decides laws in countries.

how can we ever trust doctors and nurses if they are all clowns and jesters looking for fame? harsh punishments should be applied.
