This whole deconstruction/hyperanalysis tendency we see today about everything strikes me sometimes as a desperate attempt at validating particular viewpoints.

I'm not saying there isn't good faith in these kinds of mental exercises, but it is probably impossible to perform this free of bias and with entirely objective judgement.

If you take things at face value you are often branded a fool, or lacking in intellect by most, but this is becoming a sort of lost talent in our species - allowing ourselves the luxury of having a shred of innocence again.

Sometimes things are what they are, and people do mean what they mean, without subtext. I say this as someone that agonizes entirely too much squinting over this very thing, trying to find hidden meanings, to find the deep truth, but sometimes there isn't any.
Tbh I don't mind deconstruction but the way they're written nowadays is so bad.

I've read it couldn't qualify as one unless you're targeting a specific population.

On the other hand I don't really appreciate people asking for rather extreme methods in this topic, it's a video game forum, we shouldn't be harmful.

Agreed: A lot of time Episode 1 is a pilot so that's why they aren't great nor have set all lore elements.

Even some of them have retcons.

It's interesting that humans have an embedded fear of reptiles due to vestigial elements yet we managed to appreciate them.
True I don't mind that people find snakes to be cool but the way they move, which is very fast for some, is way too freaky for me to handle. ::omgdoom
I remember watching a David Attenborough documentary about iguanas trying to scurry up on rocks to escape from a horde of snakes and that was some nightmare fuel.

Yes they actually quite were. I loved each of them as there own respects tones of gameplay. The Fireworks dragon game, the Bookworm, the fuzzy balls one, the Dinosaur egg one, the diamond matching ones and the iconic PvZ itself.

i don't think i've ever paid too much attention to stats in the older games; except with ff3 and 4 for the ds, [i have a guide for 3 that lists out stats for each job and 4 displays stats gained or lost upon level up] and ff10, where, hilariously enough, lulu is supposed to be a black mage, but has decent hp and insane evasion. which i believe is supposed to be a joke considering her outfit.
the having weak attack than the black mage is a bit strange and funny, since the white mages ultimate weapon in ff1 is Mjolnir, the weapon that thor, god of thunder wields.
Huh really? Seems like square deviated a bit when it made FF10 black mage.

Yeah white mages in FF1 had that after like spending half of the game with mythril hammers

i'm fairly certain that lulu's evasion being high is solely because of her dress. it apparently made it a severe pain to animate her in cutscenes; to the point that if they had to include her in a scene, she is either standing or walking, or is shown only from the waist up. she is actually missing from a few cgi scenes where she should be present and appears again only when the game reverts back to normal graphics.

Not joking artistic people can have some really fragile self image sometimes and it's pretty easy to bother them at least that's what i know ::eggmanlaugh
probably. i'm an artist, but i play lots of video games, so the fragile ego thing got crushed out of me by getting game overs and then doing like the dark souls meme said and "git gud".
nowadays, i relish the idea of my art having flaws, it means that i can get better still and power up to new heights; new ideas can burst forth like lightning and i can go "even further beyond"!

I think this depends on the person, some do art or what they love for enjoyment, and just put things out there, and accept feed back as an opportunity to grow and develop their craft, as they enjoy simply doing it as much as possible.

These folks tend to produce some of the most amazing works eventually and i enjoy watching them grow.

Think:

Kentaro Miiura - Berserk over the years.

Hiromu Arakawa - Full metal Alchemist, 'Arslan War Records

Tite Kibo of bleach, and look at his early stuff, vs now.

Eiichiro Oda and how One Pieace looked back in 2000s vs toady.

Akira Toriyama - Dr Slum, Dragon ball vs Dragon ball Z

Yudetamago - Ultimate musle manga (Kinnikuman)

George Morikawa - Hajime no Ippo

TakeHiko Inoue - Slam Dunk vs Vagabond

While others are in love with the idea of being an artist, and may simply want validation for little work (especially in this day and age). And as such they defend what little they have, rather then evolve their skill. (not limited to art, happens in all fields).

I think what i am trying to explain is that a persons skill has to have work put in to get work out, and asking others to appreciate as it is hard, does nothing for you. We all know things are hard, i am a person who was born with medical defects, and i have lived with them all my life, did i make excuses? Yes at the start, but then i learnt that you cannot expect people outside to give a shit, you have to give a shit first, and put the work in,and people will see your dedication and passion, expecially if your communicating it reliably for long enough, and are not simply fronting.

In any field art or not, a person should continue to work on it and refine it, until they can communicate effectively with the target audience, and with this achieved, you get something special.

This is why games are so important to me, as they are arguably works of art, with said artists coming together to communicate something special to the player, an experiance which if done right, will carry with them for years later in thier lives!

Think:

Final fantasy X
Final fantasy xiv (up till end walker)
Xenogears
Chrono trigger
Chrono Cross
Silent Hill
Resident Evil
And so much more..

This is not a slant at potential frustrating starving artists out there, but rather a rally for you not to lose hope, to take it on the chin and esentually be better thent he AI crap that will be dominating the market real soon!

Sorry for the wall of text folks!

Thats right when artists know what they are doing they end up creating something worth looking at for decades and decades.

Indeed, and the work put in to their art, will help them to find and refine what they are doing, what works, what does not and how to continue to refine.

This imho is what makes the best art, as one has to ever learn to love the grind towards it, or they just do.

Drawing can be stressful
You just grab a pencil and slide on a paper, what's stressful about it?

Soccer sucks
That's your opinion tho.

I mean why would this suck while american football wouldn't?

Not joking artistic people can have some really fragile self image sometimes and it's pretty easy to bother them at least that's what i know ::eggmanlaugh
I'd just say that being an artist doesn't make someone a special cast, they're still humans like you and me but with a specific hobby (that can be made into a full job).

I feel that sadly like in many fields there are people who tend to do more drama (either because of jealousy someone's better than them while they're being mediocre) or just act as if they're special (pro tips: nobody really is). The same rule applies to everyone and it's never a good idea to be jealous over someone else because they made the mistake of managing to live their lives with the thing they love to do.

American Football sucks, too. :)
Hot take, from what i remember, it is ever grown men kicking balls or grabbing them >_> :P

Em and D12 said it best in the awesome movie that is the longest yard! (hot take?)

And why does it suck? Can we get some proper explanations other than "sports bad"? I mean it's a bit of a cliche that gamers (and anime fans) don't like sport.

As for the artist talk I also wanna tell that if everyone is unique then nobody is. Syndrome was such a genius antagonist that basically summarised a lot of things around.

Yeah it's just that artistic fields can hold people like this more often than not

I dunno if it's correlated to socially inept people (then again it may just be a coincidence) but I feel like some fields are more prone to have bullies (which are probably people who got bullied previously but then again it's hypothetical) that often abuse their power when they get a bit of fame, the art was just the way they got popularity.

I heard that the art field, like the theatre or even acting one, is a cruel place that isn't gentle towards people that cannot stand for themselves.

I often feel like some really talented people just quit because of others when they had a great potential. A big shame if you'd ask.

Arguably it sucks because it prioritizes the entertainment of spectators over the health and wellbeing of the players. Like rugby, its a full contact sport that can and has left people with life-long health complications including everything from tumors to severe arthritis and even chronic cerebrospinal fluid leaks.

Yet we're still encouraging young people to do this so we can watch them fondling balls. In some cases "encouraging" them by making it one of their only hopes of getting a decent start in life/education.

Then fans also resist a lot of the moves that have been suggested to help reduce the physical strain and injury because it 'changes the sport'

'Soccer' sucks because of the turning if a simple game into an excuse to kick the shit out of other people and wreck everyone's stuff. At least, that's the legacy that Footie has here in the UK.
