Listen, I don't like Nintendo's practices as a company. They're a company of blunders since the Famicom days, and while I obviously enjoy their games, they're backwards in almost every other aspect.
And I'm a big Emulation advocate. I'm not against a Switch emulator. I approve of the concept, actually. But making an emulator for a CURRENT gen console is suicide. It happened with PSX and Bleem, and I think it happened to an early 64 emulator. And then came all the clout chasing "forks". The fact that we lost Citra when it was finally getting decent is a massive shame.
the devs kinda lost my respect for them cuz they ended up dragging citra down because of their shenanigans with yuzu with nintendo. Maybe I'm feeling petty and unreasonable but idk.

Final Fantasy 9 is the most overrated final fantasy game.

Final Fantasy 8, single handedly made me a fan of RPGs', not 7, though I loved aspects of 7 and I played that and a few other RPG's before hand, I much prefer the advent children additions and onwards, the 7 remakes are what the OG should have been and I'm glad it got remade because of all final fantasies, that needed a remake the most, as it aged like milk outside of the music and designs.

9 gets heaps of praise for some reason thought itr's objectivel worse than 8 in every way.

It has a simpler story and is more straightforward than 7 and 8. I also didn't notice that it was loved by anyone till I saw people mention it online. I am willing to bet it was their first final fantasy.

A common reddit post is "when does FF9 get good?", "How much longer do I have to play through 9 before it gets good?", I tried playing through it three times throughout the years and I stopped playing each time.

I say that as someone that finished, 7,8,10,13,13-2,lighting returns and all the kingdom hearts games, and all dragon quests except 9. I''m quite seasoned at RPG's in general and I thought FF9 had bad character designs, crap level layouts, really drawn out combat and also Nobuo Uematsu's worst soundtrack, add to this that it's written exclusively by Sakaguichi, whom isn't a great writer and the better written final fantasy stories are written by someone else, anyone else really. Blue dragon had great music, character designs, good music and a absolute ass story, written by Sakaguichi.
I said somewhere what's probably great about FF9 while i prefer 8 too for the reasons you mentioned such as a more complex story , we gotta give 9 credit where it's due.

If you played the first 6 FF games you will know why 9 is so special from the PS1 trilogy as 7/8 deviated from the usual FF setting that was middle ages by adding technology and with 7 simplifying the pieces of gear you had to equip like 6 having 5 while 7 you only equipped weapon some bracer and an accessory.

With 8 it was even more simplified by swapping armor with durability and accessory merged with special abilities like magic increased by 40% (you gotta have rinoa with this)

While 7/8 were deviating from the roots 9 went back to the roots , a setting more akin to the older games along with gear becoming 5 slots now bringing back ability to equip gloves along with the traditional jobs like knight/theif and the return of white/black mages.

Along with music brought back from older titles and the return of the start of final fantasy battle music the "bass" i think it's called , tracks like castle pandemonium remade for FF9 , the return of the dwarves , and the story line containing the crystal and the four fiends of elements , so many throwbacks to older titles along with a deviant version of FF8 abilities system and an artstyle and animations similar to FF7 being quite cartoony compared to FF8 which square went absolutely nuts with animations , all in all FF9 felt like the devs honoring their history while utilizing PS1 technology to create a traditional Final Fantasy game taking elements from all previous installments.

It also does help that series creator has FF9 as his favorite game.

There's a difference between genuinely wanting preservation (which is good, I cannot play Virtual Boy games sur as Wario Land without paying too much money from second hand) and doing unambiguous piracy.

At least old console emulators could still claim they're for homebrewing (which is sometimes true) to let some ambiguity about their primary use (since you cannot really afford to claim that you could run games that are still sold in stores) so this is why Nintendo hasn't shut down Dolphin despite being the most proficient Nintendo console emulator that had a bigger popularity thanks to the fact you could run mods such as Project M/Project Plus.

This is also why for safety the PlayStation emulators are requiring a Bios file (you could extract from your own console via a tutorial) to even be able to run the games.

It should be common knowledge that you're supposed to extract the game files from your own cartridges or CDs and not getting them online even if you own those games to be legit.

They really has fumbled hard by showing unreleased games and made some builds locked behind a paywall.

In the end of the day I'm all for preservation but I think that for something to be preserved there should be a "buffering time".

Co-op makes RE5 and 6 a MUCH better experience. That being said, RE6 solo is nowhere near as rough as RE5 solo.
Yes, but it's not something I would criticize. It's not like Resident Evil ever had a good story.
See? These guys get it, people treat RE story as if it was something serious, and i mean it has serious touches on it, but i like to think of it as more like Night of the Living Dead or Army of Darkness, there's splashes of seriousness on it, but at the end we have to be honest, "Gill Sandwich", "No thanks, bro", the campiness will always be part of it, the remake of 4 swayed me off because it turned an action game into a Linkin Park fanboy fantasy, the edginess bleeds off in RE4 Remake.

Fighting games are boring. I think to myself "I rather play anything else besides this shit"
Fighting game stories are equally pathetic.
Honestly if you don't like fighting games i don't blame you, like i said earlier, it's an adquired taste, like being a Survivor fan, you have to like it to enjoy it.

To me 7,8, and 9 all have that same level of quality but all feel completely different from each other. I enjoy all 3 of those. 1-6 is traditional style which i also love. 10 has it's ups and downs. 10-2 is good gameplaywise for sure!

I found 7 to be the best most well refined , well balanced and well thought out FF game i played so far from the 10 games i played (1-9 tactics included) , i haven't tried any PS2 era FF yet but seeing how amazing the first 9 installments were (aside from 2 and 3) I'm expecting these next installments to be well made just like the previous games.

Yeah, I never understood why people defend Resident Evil plots like they were something serious or even a narrative masterpiece, when they're basic and campy as fuck. Same with "horror"; Resident Evil does not have the atmosphere of a horror game. Is the kind of game that pretends being a horror game just for showing a monster on screen and added to the campiness, it ends up being a joke, a very funny and entertained joke, but a joke at the end. The only Resident Evil that is horror game is RE7.

Village looked scary 👀

2D Mortal Kombat was bad, Mortal Kombat 1 and 3 was as guilty of all the salt is thrown at ii regarding AI cheapness, 4 and Deadly Alliance are somewhat decent experiments, but for me it wasn't until Deception (Ironic title) where they found their ground

Code Veronica's plot is WEIRD

I hope requiem continues the campiness, that's when these games are at their best

Yes they actually quite were. I loved each of them as there own respects tones of gameplay. The Fireworks dragon game, the Bookworm, the fuzzy balls one, the Dinosaur egg one, the diamond matching ones and the iconic PvZ itself.
