Twitter is an excellent source of meme cluture

I disagree with you on this , meme culture downgraded petty fast everything is funny to "meme culture" when pagers blow up hurting kids its a meme....if 9/11 was today they would turn it into a meme

Not everything is a joke but these people in meme culture are try to touch sensitive topics in a very insensitive way...not to mention political opinions and ideology can use memes to spread its ideals racist memes I do find them funny but if not consumed with caution and awareness can influence some people perception of others like the 13% commit 50% of crime it can be used as a meme same for the bear vs black teens clip where a bear just steals a chocolate and leaves while black teens are smashing a store its funny but these memes when consumed in large amounts can turn people racist.

Same for serbia celebrating their war crimes soon enough you find people justifying it cuz "its funny" case and point meme culture has the means to turn you into a sociopath with 0 empathy and 0 regard for others.

A certain orange man uses memes to gain popularity.

I'm surprised because some people would've rather used 9/11 against them (and making islamophobic jokes) but I'd say we shouldn't delve too much into politics.

I think there are groups in artistic fields that have caused catastrophic damage to their ability to resist epocic changes.

a micro scale of this is something like Gaming journalism. in the past we knew there was some bought in but it was run by people who liked games and sometimes money. But ever since it became one of the hottest parts of the culture war*tm* it has become harder for any gaming journalist to stand up as they have to fight for what few fans of them are left. Those on one side don't like them for going too far outside their lane and the other side things they have not left their lane far enough leading to almost all of them being supplanted by visual mediums.

if they had not driven themselves into the Culture War:tm: they would have a more fervent fanbase to defend against the coming change and supporters that would use them despite their outdatedness. Vinyl record fans exist despite that being several editions out of date, so do Forums because the fans love that medium. But when you tear your fanbase to shreads by not understanding the space you are in, you have a lot harder time with defending against a major change in how people interact.

you can take this and scale it up and down to various issues now and days from AI art to world governments. But this is the most sanitized version I can do, because I don't want a fight about things I know will just leave ruins. I like being a fan of things, and I like being a fan of you reader, let me still be a fan of you reader after this.

You know.... after the greatest explanation you've gave to this, you are 100% right. I will never forget that chess controversy where folks there for some reason had to bring fucking politics into the situation despite being about CHESS. I do apologize for this later, but yeah, Twitter isnt really the best place to find memes after all.

I'd be the devil's advocate but Chess is a game portraying two armies, war is always politically charged and I'd even dare saying that Chess is also a way to reveal someone's personality (therefore political opinion by extent since it's a part of the opinion prism).

Okay, I do agree that turning everything political in any way gets tiring.

Chess being two armies is a blank slate by this thousands of year later. If I pick the Black army does that make me Pro Erusea? or Picking the white army makes me a supporter of Princess Peach Toadstool?

I agree with the rest though, you need to be able to turn off the politics.

Yeah Twitter sucks as I said , I would say forums like these can breed pretty decent memes.

And discord servers too , idk about that chess controversy never been fan of that game

Official discords and those with like over 10k members lack that friendly vibe or that authentic feeling , these discords are so firmly moderated it's not even funny , you get muted for the least troubling of things...feels like walking on thin ice! This brings us to moderation and how its done most of what I encountered is honestly utter trash tier moderation getting banned for disagreeing with a mod or some other BS , its why I usually have this disdain for moderators in general I just can't trust em

You are right the smaller the more connected you are to other members , but owning a discord server feels like a troubling and daunting task idk if there is no pay I ain't making or moderating one imagine spending hours moderating some chat log without getting paid that's ENERGY spent doing these tasks energy you get from food you buy.

Well from my experience within my own discord server it really isnt that difficult. Especially since Im only known for my backloggd reviews, there isnt much going on there. Stuff happens once in a while, and while some people can get bored of that and leave, I dont find thar much to be an issue. Its not even going to be my main discord server for when I have more progress with my indie gane which I already have a separate private place that'll be changed and repurpoused in the future.

Yeah I am. However, everything but the programming and the art has been done. I have done character designs for my characters using piceew, and for obivious reasons once I start programming my game, I am hoping that I can find someone to redraw the picrew characters into actual beings with persinality.

It's funny how out of all board games that I can play, Chess is the only one I refuse to play seriously.

Just get the foundation and build up from there
