Hidden Gems!

Ahhh this takes me back. I remember the original article almost like it was yesterday. Nice picks! I really should finish last window haha.

Still can't believe Sega lost(?) that lawsuit...
seems like an impass atm, or like both are awaiting the other to fire the first shot, or that Sega just doesn’t wanna bother. It all seems like a huge mess considering it stemmed from an alleged contract and a ton of he says she says. There’s probably some good faith arguments to be made but considering penders has a bizarre history with nepotism, I wouldn’t put it past him that a lot of it was also likely done in bad faith. Shame cuz i really like a lot of Archie stuff.

You ever think about how Sonic Chronicles will never be a thing again because its trapped in the Ken Penders Legal Purgatory with 90% of Archie Sonic

Wow I forgot about that funny situation but that's how law works.

Simply put, artists are protected in a very okay way. So despite it's a fan fiction about a universe a company owns like for example Persona video game series, the artist has legal ownership over the original characters, situations and events they wrote therefore fan fiction cannot be owned by the company and cannot be used without the permission of the artist. What matters for the artist to be able to prove they indeed wrote the fan fiction. Date of creation matters a lot. In the end if no one can prove who wrote the fan fiction and if multiple people claims ownership so if no one can prove a date of creation then things get funny because fan fiction itself become a "protected artwork" so no one can use anything about that fan fiction until it hits its copyright expiration date which varies depending on the country's law.

So why he "won"?: While he was working for the company, company had legal right to sell his artwork because it was considered as "the artist gave permission" for it but it turned out after he was not working for the company, company had no legal right to use his artwork to make money because the company couldn't prove his work done in the context of "work for hire" status by legally establishing such an agreement in a proper way that's acceptable by law. It seemed like he was "commissioned", therefore naturally the artist owns their creation. However the artist can transfer copyright by properly establishing a legal agreement by making the agreement proper for law to the person who wants it, which in his case to the company paid money to the artist for his creation but Ken Penders didn't transfer the copyright. Naturally unless he gives permission or his copyright expires no one is legally allowed to use his creations lolol.

It's been quite a while since I played Okamiden, but you got enough wrong that it hurts.
First, this is subjective but I would say that it's a bit more than just fine, it's probably the best game of it's kind in the DS. While overall inferior to the original (inevitable, giving the inferior platform), it has one thing that it does much better than the original and is it's main gimmick of the brush (probably the only reason why they made this game for the DS, honestly)

There are six total partners, although the first one is Issun and he's truly useless. Chibiterasu CAN fight on his own, there are even different kinds of weapons, like swords and disks which play differently. The partners add to your damage significantly, but there are even short segments where you have no partner (when you lose a partner due to story reasons and before you get the next), for not mentioning that Issun seriously does nothing, is not until Kuni that you get your first real partner.
Thanks for the info. I did probably get a lot of info wrong (or outright missing) because it's been a long time since I last played it so I don't remember much. Should have played again before writing about it. My bad!

Thanks for the Reasons Friend.

I'd say it's a pity but I think SEGA should try making a new one rather than fighting for this Dark Brotherhood

you want an "interesting" DS game, check out Lost magic, you draw every spell you use, while that sounds fun and very unique, be prepared to practice a LOT, especially going fast since it's a RTS kinda game,

《Doki Doki Majou Shinpan》 and 《Kumatanchi》 are so underrated nowadays
Never heard about those, which, as always, proofs there's always something bigger

Played that one, had to drop it because it became too hard (as a kid)

Serious question, how dare you put Sonic Chronicles and Mario Hoops: 3-on-3 on the same conversation!?
This is not a list of recommendations, but rather of discoveries. Granted, Sonic Chronicles and Mario Hoops aren't exactly the most obscure games, but as I state on the article, I also like to talk about the lesser known fellas within franchises

I only know about this because a group of insecured man childs on youtube complained about Ken Penders and I could care less. You could called me a jerk but like certain people make a big deal over nothing, I didn't even knew of Ken Penders and even if I did how are you gonna give someone shit for protecting their work? Yes he doesn't "own" those characters but imagine if SEGA went after people who made their own Sonic OCs like in Sonic Forces and copyrighted them?

Hidden gems (and rocks). Sonic Chronicles is one of those rocks. That being said, I COULD go for more bad games, that much is certain
Hidden Rocks means something bad thats obsecure right because people know of Sonic Chronicles?

I'd add Blood of Bahamut is a certified hidden rock. Played it for about 4 hours, couldn't find any fun in it's combat. Maybe it was better when played with friends, but as a single-player game it isn't as good as I thought it'd be.

Yeah, when I say rock I mean the opposite of a gem (they tend to be shiny, unlike rocks that are dull and dim). Some rocks can be cool if they have cool colors. Sonic Chronicles is not one of the cool rocks. As for the "hidden" aspect, I might have to rethink the dynamic of these articles.

Sonic Chronicles gives me chronic pain. I think it’s not only one of the worst Sonic games, but also one of the worst DS Games of all time. There’s like nothing I like about that shitty game. Also that game ends on a very insulting unresolved cliffhanger as a final “fuck you!” to the player.

Anyways, Mario Hoops 3 on 3 is a fun time, though pretty hard imo. I never actually played it when it was new, I first played it like last year. I did however play it’s sort-of sequel “Mario Sports Mix” on the Wii back then.

i have some history with the shin-chan game, my memory of it is really bage since i was REALLY young when this happend.
me and my parents just got out of the store and i was really happy about the game, then i dropped the box and we lost the game, years leater my dad bough it again and i counds finish it becouse i had to do something with an elecric fish, and gave up for some years, but i finished the game eventually.
i stronglly recomend plaing any ds sin-chan game, and i would love to help with translations if anyone know how

THE KYLE HYDE DUOLOGY - HOTEL DUSK: ROOM 2015
LAST WINDOW: THE SECRET OF CAPE WEST

These two games are the probably worth to own a DS alone.. you MUST play them on the DS.. and is a life experience, since is more of a detective "slice of life" type of game.. is "CozzyComfyboring" Combo!

Cool choices OP, I never knew Shin-chan was such a hit in Spain. Never got around to playing Kirby Mass Attack but Canvas Curse is tragically overlooked and probably my second favorite Kirby game.

Nice bunch of games in general.

I remember being so hyped about Sonic Chronicles: a Sonic RPG, and made by Bioware? It's going to be awesome! Welp...

Edit: Oh, and Hotel Dusk is one of the best DS titles for me.

So here;s my experience with some of these games:

SONIC CHRONICLES: THE DARK BROTHERHOOD - Sucks!
I had to use Action Replay to finish it! And one of the few games I traded back because it was so bad!

OKAMIDEN - Cute as Hell!

However it has some potholes and they made the Puppy cry! Blasphemy!

I had the collector set that had the paintbrush stylist and I used it religiously!

Unfortunately I lost it while visiting my Mom. 🙁

KIRBY: MASS ATTACK - Love It!

And the music is awesome!

And

SOLATOROBO: RED THE HUNTER - Haven't played it yet.

But I do have the box with the soundtrack.

It cost me $20 at Gamestop back in the day. 😀
