It's not a port of Shining Force 2, there's a trilogy of Shining Force side stories on the Game Gear. The first two got remake as Shining Force CD on the Sega CD (with a new, shorter third chapter), but the third one came out later so it's only on GG. There's a fan translation for it.What? They ported shinning force II to the Gamegear? That's insane,
I beat the first game in the Sega Genesis, second one kinda comfused me.
Also if you haven't already play both the Sonic 1 8 bit and Sonic 2 8 bit remakes thar remake the Master System/Game Gear versions of the games.
You can find them here: https://sonic-sms-remake.blogspot.com/
You are correct.Just started playing Game Gear not too long ago and others have mentioned already, GG Aleste 1-3 are an absolute blast. Though I don't think GG Aleste 3 was released before the new collection on Switch but I might be wrong...
i unironically love Ren and Stimpy Quest For The Shaven Yak
I'm gonna be honest I never expected it to be a Breakout-like game judging from the box art. Need to try it at some stageVery cool breakout/arkanoid style game

Is there any reasons why they removed it for the west?
Gunstar Heroes is quite impressive for the hardware to retain the frantic action despite being on a 8-bits system. Even more impressive than Metal Slug on the Neogeo Pocket
I agree that the cover may be a bit misleading but since the game is fun I excuse them.I'm gonna be honest I never expected it to be a Breakout-like game judging from the box art. Need to try it at some stage.
The GBA had tons of ports, the DS had tons of lazy made sequels.I agree that the cover may be a bit misleading but since the game is fun I excuse them.
I wish there were more "adventure breakout" type of games with bosses and various stages featuring enemies instead of the Arkanoid like clone.
I plan on doing its Genesis sequel/remake as well as the DS game (although the latest one isn't that good looking).
Truly the greatest name for a video game ever.i unironically love Ren and Stimpy Quest For The Shaven Yak
Shining Force Gaiden: Final Conflict is a very nice and simple turn based strategy game and the story kind of unifies all three Mega Drive/Genesis games (Shining Force 1-2 and Shining in the Darkness) into a single narrative.
There's actually a sequel based on the movie and it's straight up my favorite 8-bit fighting game. It's just so fast and aggressive.
GG Shinobi 2 is no joke. A great example of what you could do on the Game Gear. There's actually a sequel based on the movie and it's straight up my favorite 8-bit fighting game. It's just so fast and aggressive.
My childhood GG collection was that, Shining Force Sword of Hajya, Dynamite Heady, Ax Battler, Mortal Kombat 1 and 2, Sonic 2, and Foreman For Real Boxing
Years later I picked up Sonic Chaos and Triple Trouble, and Shinobi 2 The Silent Fury, which is excellent and probably my second favorite game on the platform behind Shining Force from what I've played so far. I also ended up playing the Tails games thanks to Sega's various collections on the Gamecube and PS2.
the GG Aleste are by far some of the best games in the franchise in my opinion, its crazy how many good games they had on sega consoles, the GG series, MUSHA, Robo Aleste, for some reason sega's hardware just gave them their biggest hits -- while nintendo had... Super Aleste... eughGG Aleste 1-3 are so technically impressive and have been in heavy rotation for me lately. The sense of speed and number of sprites with minimal slowdown is unreal for something played on an early '90s handheld.
Also, shoutout to Galaga '91 as another fun shooter that doesn't feel like your ship is slow as molasses (which is my biggest cardinal sin in the genre).
is it any different from the first one? i never touch Drift 2 because i imagined it would be a near identical experienceYou forgot the underrated hidden gem of Sonic Drift 2 man, I love that game to oblivion, so I’ll edit and fix your list so that it can be perfect

I mean there are several: Sonic Triple Trouble, Tails Adventure, Power Rangers, GG Aleste 1 and 2, GG Shinobi 1 and 2, the Shining Force Gaiden trilogy just to name some off the top of my head.hmmm most if not all popular game gear games were master system ports and sega genesis demakes, and I think it barely had a good reputation regarding original games
Yeah the good GG games are almost all exclusives, and the games that were also released on Master System weren't really ports for the most part, they were dual releases where the SMS version only came out in Europe and Brazil.I mean there are several: Sonic Triple Trouble, Tails Adventure, Power Rangers, GG Aleste 1 and 2, GG Shinobi 1 and 2, the Shining Force Gaiden trilogy just to name some off the top of my head.
Perhaps just as important though, the final Master System game to be released in North America was Sonic the Hedgehog 1, and in Japan it was even earlier with Bomber Raid, so for much of the world a lot of games that showed up on both the Master System and Game Gear in Europe and Brazil were instead Game Gear exclusives.
BRAZIL MENTIONED who cheeredI mean there are several: Sonic Triple Trouble, Tails Adventure, Power Rangers, GG Aleste 1 and 2, GG Shinobi 1 and 2, the Shining Force Gaiden trilogy just to name some off the top of my head.

I mean should it be an issue when many Gameboy games were ports of NES ones?hmmm most if not all popular game gear games were master system ports and sega genesis demakes, and I think it barely had a good reputation regarding original games.
Yes, some SMS versions were done after and only in EUR/SA.Yeah the good GG games are almost all exclusives, and the games that were also released on Master System weren't really ports for the most part, they were dual releases where the SMS version only came out in Europe and Brazil.
