Also that seems Interesting
I tried to watch that vid and holy shit, does he say fucking nothing for the first 60% of it. The changes were a great big nothing burger too.

For the love of God Doomer, touch grass!

I think it might just be me, but I couldn't really tell the difference in the pictures provided for some of those changes. To be honest, gender-restricted clothing in games kinda bugs me in general
Ah depends a Bikini Armor if it is shown via sprites would look quite ridiculous on a Man

Because I would have to think of that old man from the Anime Magical Circle Guru Guru

phew what a choice list

have you played tales of xillia before? if not pick that, like for real it needs to be played, it's still my favorite tales game. i recommend upping the difficulty above normal though.

my Biased choice is Dragon quest 1+2, idk what else is changing in those two but if its anything close to 3 2D-HD, it's gonna be AMAZING, i'm a huge DQ fan though so could just be that.

BTW dragon quest 3 on PC has mods to un-censor if that really matters, quite easy to do just drag and drop in folder and done. it should be the same for 1 and 2 (unreal engine is easy to mod)

some of the mods for DQ3 HD are actually cool (like zoom in out, multiple Heroes up to 4, make it snow everywhere if you wanted, faster move, encounter rate tweaks, and add a NEW GAME PLUS!? best mod)

Yeah, but that's part of the fun too. I put the fake moustache accessory on literally everybody in a Tales RPG, because that adds a lot to my personal enjoyment. Even if it ruins the more serious cutscenes :loldog
I like more freedom to dress my characters how I like, instead of having more arbitrary restrictions like gender determine what they wear. Besides, I don't think equipment in Dragon Quest has any visual impact on the sprites themselves.

Not really. Homies making things up to be mad about again.
Let me guess, you gladly play US version of these kind of games with the US dub and do it proudly? if the answer is yes, there is nothing more to say. If the answer is no, I am happy to hear that.

Among these 4 games, I would directly discard Pokemon and Tales of Xillia. Pokemon for obvious reasons and Tales because it's the same game over again, and I am not agree with companies releasing the same over and over to get cash with minimal effort. In addition, one QoL within the game is to switch encounters Off, and I am totally against that.

Dragon Quest is a hit and miss. The game is fun but the censorship is not.

Perhaps Digimon would be the best bet.

I have played Xillia before, but I am due a refresher playthrough. It is tempting to wait and replay it via the remaster though, because of the QOL stuff it'll have.
Yeah, I really appreciate modding communities. They cater for just about any tweak you could want!

We are on the opposite on that it seem as I just can't change my characters in Tales of Games into funny outfits as it throws me out of the immersion in every cutscene ;).

It varies by game for me. For example: I am too used to the Japanese dub of Yakuza to play them in English, but I am also way too used to the English cast of Dragon Ball to play those games in Japanese.
I'm ok with remakes and remasters if they have QOL improvements. Plus, not everyone will have had the chance to play the original version. It does get a bit annoying if a company only or mostly does remakes/remasters though.
DQ is pretty fun, and I'm not personally bothered by those censorship changes I've seen.

I certainly couldn't afford to buy every game I'm interested,
Me neither. That's why I'm here ;D!

I think I'm gonna go with the Dragon Quest option. Hope you enjoy!

I played almost all of Tales of Arise with one character in sunglasses. Completely killed the mood for every serious close-up shot of their face, and I loved it! ::eggmanlaugh

I personally will buy Dragon Quest I&II.
Yes, it'll be censored and while I don't like that, it's always been like that with western releases and probably always will.

That said I own the DQIII 2D-HD and it is not my favorite version, my favorite being the SNES translation you can find here in the repo along with I&II.

I love making my character look as ridiculous as possible too ::eggmanlaugh
The sprites in Dragon Quest don't change appearance with your equipment but if they do the same as they did in DQIII 2D-HD, there might be sprite customization although I don't think they'll do that.

If it's truly the only new game why not Digimon?
Digimon is looking like the strongest contender!
To be honest, I mainly just felt like making a poll.
Ideally, I would end up playing all of these at one point or another

I would say as the German version is normally even worse than the English once with some exceptions, anyway I would go with the Japanese original none censored once If I could speak weebanize but I can't.

In the End regardless of the Poll just play whatever you like.
What you like and prefer should come first yet I always say to modern Games wait till a sale or get a Job in the Navy

To of course earn enough money to pay off the game.

For me the original dub is really important, be english, korean, chinese, japanese or even Indonesian. I got very angry when I played Dreadout, a game I really like, and they didn't include the indonesian dub, so I waited until they did at a later stage when they saw the game got real attention. I feel shame when devs put english dub over their own just for the sake of sales, because I think if devs think like that is because we are really unrespectful with the original work.

For the rest, I completely agree with you. QoL improvements can be what some people need to trigger interest in a game, besides of having another change of playing a game they couldn't back then :). But I believe removing battles in a RPG is like playing a 3D VN, so it makes no sense.
Good point!

Fuck all this shit! Play Ninja Gaiden Ragebound!
Is it japanese dubbed? :3

I am deeply ashamed as I play also games with English dub as I am to lazy to read all the time especially when actions happen on the screen besides I am not a native English speaker but German is quite often not a option regarding the dub and the German text is well questionable in quality especially when I hear the English sentence and than read the butchered German translation.

Yeah, I can understand that. I watch pretty much everything with subtitles anyway, regardless of the spoken language. So I tend to stick with whatever language I first experienced that thing in.

I can understand to a degree about turning off battles in an RPG. I have friends who don't really have the patience for a lot of RPGs, but being able to turn off random encounters for a bit helped them get through and enjoy the story.

Yeah, there aren't usually enough language options for non-English speakers. I see a LOT of Spanish fan translations in the Repo as an example

I definitely get the Dub VS Original VA argument though. I'm not *quite* as strict on it, but I refuse to use dubs on anything that's distinctively of a certain setting. Yakuza or Samurai games in English just feels all kinds of wrong.

As a German I go hungry in that regard as Germans who are feed up with the bullshit translation just switch to English completely instead of translating it into German also its quite expected nowadays especially in younger Generations that you know at least some English by some the mean at least near fluent.

And then you have Yakuza 8. A Japanese game set mostly in Hawaii, with an extremely awkward dub no matter which one you go with! ::sailor-embarrassed
