Once again maybe it's cause I'm back and trying to figure out what to play for now (either Ocarina of Time or Kingdom hearts) but I tend to have this feeling where I boot up the game and just end up staring at my screen for a minute or even start playing and 20 - 30 min in I lose interest and just put my controller down and close it but what mostly happens is I find myself going to play games on my PlayStation.

I've thought about separating and scheduling my games like rn I'm playing Yakuza 0 on PlayStation and maybe after I finish it that's when I'll be able to play the games I've longed to play for a while but for now I really doubt I'll be able to play them and enjoy them to the max while hopping games or I'm overthinking it? (I'm still addicted to pokemon and rn I'm currently playing Pokemon Gold and about to start getting the 8 badges in Kanto)

Either way that's what I had in my mind rn and would like to hear your opinions.

Bless up and have a great one

Hmm. Sometimes I get bored so hard, until I have fun in a certain degree by continuing to increase my "fun level" until a certain threshold I cannot feel fun. It's like until then my body gets used to feeling so bored and bad it start think it's so normal as if it's how it should be. Then I have to force myself to have fun, not work, so I can start to have fun even if it means forcing myself to play some games.

However, also no reason to force yourself if you really don't wanna play a game. Sometimes I switch between playing many games every half hour until I finally settle into one game to hook up and actually start to have fun. But then when I hook up with one particular game, I cannot enjoy playing other games until I finish it.

Might as well try do this tbh

Sounds to me like you're not in the headspace for videogames at the moment. Might be a good time to try new things? Get out of your comfort zone, you know?

To ramble a bit, since I've got a headache - I think it's easy to fall back into unintentionally restrictive habits we've gotten used to when we're trying to entertain ourselves. "I like movies and I've got nothing better to do - I'll watch a movie!" and so on.
Hell, for some people their hobbies and habits can even become their whole identity! Whether we like it or not, every now and then our brains want variation and new input.

It's completely normal to take a break from your hobbies and to check out or do other things for a while - the enjoyment does usually return after some time away. Or at least it does for me.

That's really a wise perspective that I can even scientifically explain!!!

Long story short and put it simply: As particular neurons are overly used due to a constant cycle of being triggered the more they lose their sensitivity to be able to pick up and transmit to trigger nearby neurons. This is why, as you tire your particular neurons, the less you will be able to use them. For example studying law all day without even distracting yourself will make your brain cannot work eventually, so because of it your brain cannot learn anything and then you will find yourself in a state you can't even understand it. In such a state if I had asked your name you may have had to think it for a long time. This is when the brain makes certain parts of it sleep despite you are awake due to extreme tiredness of doing the same over a long time. It also make brain skip time because you won't be aware you were sleeping in your wake state. This is also when sometimes your memory cannot record information so don't be surprised some stuff happened while you were tired that you cannot remember. People may tell you your answer didn't make sense as you clearly misunderstood it, you may also did something that didn't make sense either (putting your wallet into the refrigerator). This happens when brain try to use certain neurons but it can't so the "task order" bounced from neurons brain couldn't trigger to unrelated neurons that was mistakenly triggered. When this happens it effect the way you think and make decision in irrelevant way. So for example, when brain cannot think to put the wallet in its right place, if you were thinking about the refrigerator because you were hungry, you may find yourself automatically putting your wallet into the refrigerator lol. Your current ideas depends on which neurons are active so they can be triggered.

Letting your brain tired is really dangerous, can lead you to cannot remember, cannot understand what's happening which leads to misunderstanding, and will make you slower. It does endanger your life in a way being careless and losing a sense of carefulness can lead to fatal accidents.

It's important to let your neurons rest by distracting yourself with different things.

For example if a long hard work that required you to pay attention for half of the day made you tired, the best would be doing something that you don't have to pay attention like listening to music. It was rather the rule I followed after going home from school and playing video games. It really helped me to relax. But after an intense work all I wanna do is just shut down my brain for a month lol.

It also means it made me divide video games into "games to play for fun" and "games to play to relax". For example new video games are not something I could play to relax or have fun. They talk too much. Imagine being a kid listening to people for a long time and try to play such games. Imagine you walk around the city for hours and try to play the games force you to walk for hours. Imagine you do all the chores, and then video game forces you to do more chores. It does not make sense to me when video game industry is like this anymore. It was always important to have mindless fun gameplay to enjoy without story and dialogue.

I was in the same situation as you, so I let others decide what I play through a random list, then I stick to that even if the game is bad. That's the only way to discover games that I really like, through a sea of bad ones lol. I thought it would be harder at first, but it's being nice overall :)

No idea what to say about that now, play what you think about most.
By the way, welcome elder Dani! :). I believe your old account got infected by the PlayStore DS emulator, I am sorry :(

Put the games you want to play on this wheel and see which one is last on it. Eliminate every one but one like musical chairs (I like to call it Last Man Standing, cause that’s cooler) and whatever is left, that’s what you’re playing

Ease your mind. You should take long breaks. For example play sports outside, read a book, go walking, etc. Cognitive overload leaves you mentally drained & less productive.
100% agree that's why I'm on a social media detox rn and reduced my gaming time to like 3 hrs max per day I'm mostly learning how to skateboard rn and logging movies

I skateboarded back in the day, broken bones suck. But that shouldn't stop you from doing what you love.

It seems like you are burnt out. It's a terrible feeling.

Sometimes I wish social media didn't exist and that the internet was really limited. I remember when I was a kid, all I had was my PlayStation 1. Those were the better, simpler times. Now I understand why.

When I'm in that headspace only two things can solve it, wait some time, or find the most different weirdest game from what I typically enjoy and play it. Sometimes I don't even finish them and still enjoy the experience :loldog

Yes. We all sometimes feel a need to play this video game just to hard reset our brains lolol:

I do something like that ::omgdoom

Sometimes I fell the same way, in order to fix that I either get a hack for the game either to change the game a bit or add some much needed QoL. The other thing is that a lot of old game feel like a slog so I use the fast forward or frameskip feature together with save states in case I over do it with the fast forward.

Ocarina of Time in particular has a lot of cutscenes that if you already know what is happening it just ends up ruining the experience, i think randomizers completely remove the cutscenes. There is also Hyrule Field in which you just walk for a long time, multiple times.

There are also certain games that having it just constantly work a bit faster makes a night and day difference for me. The sweet spot depends on the game, but for me it's usually at 1.15x - 1.3x the usual game speed.

digital photography & video editing is a future career as well
Bro is you in my mind cause rs I was thinking about it for a while ever since I started enjoying watching films and stuff
Sounds like cognitive overload. Do something else that you enjoy for awhile. Like bungee jumping
Bungee Jumping seems interesting but as of now we don't really have it in our area
