I have two I was always very fond of.

The first would be inspired by Pokemon Snap. You'd be a photographer who hunts cryptids and you're trying to get the best photos of them possible. You start off small, with some local legends and really basic equipment, but the better photos you take the more you can sell them for. The more money you make, the better equipment you can get, the further you can travel, and you could even pay people for information to help you find new creatures to photograph. Could even have an online system where you share photos and things.

The second would be called "Dream Bear." The story would center on a child who recently went through a very traumatic event and ended up in an orphanage. They have horrible night terrors so one of the workers gets them a teddy bear to help them sleep better. At night, the bear comes to life to protect the child, going into their dreams to fight off the night terrors. Each dream would be a different 'theme' based on a common childhood fear, and each would have a "greater terror" as the main boss you'd have to slay to purify the nightmare and turn it into a peaceful dream until all the child's trauma began to heal.

Me and some friends blueprinted some ideas for a fighting game years ago. It has a cyberpunk sorta theme and each character could switch from using a weapon and fighting empty handed. When you were barehanded, you had long, magic series style strings, and weapon stance was slow, single attacks that could do up to 40 percent like Samurai Shodown style. There would be a slight delay in switching from one to the other, but you could burn meter to cancel attacks into the neutral position of the other style (A Roman cancel in weapon would put you in barehands and vice versa). We came up with a couple characters, a cyber samurai guy and a future ninja girl, but it didn't get far along.

Having the elder dragons as pets in Monster Hunter. And yes, the elder dragons can't be tamed or captured and you're supposed to kill it after all. But it would be sick having an option or rewards to have an elder dragon like for example, Kushala Daora next to the camp. Just chilling y'know?

If I ever made an RPG, I would make something with a complex class system. You would start out with several simple classes and only by completing ranks would you get spells and abilities. Not only that, but completing classes unlocks higher quality classes like in Dragon Quest VI and VII. By the end of the game, you would have completed several classes in order to get the highest possible spells and skills. I'm imagining that you start out with a couple classes like 'Villager,' 'Child With Stick.' and 'Guy who Coughs too Much.' By the end of the game you get extreme stuff like 'World Champion,' 'Berserker King,' and 'Demi-God.' As for plot, music, graphics, or literally anything of importance; it doesn't matter. I just want the ultimate job/class RPG.

I have made a few games myself, but i do have quite a few ideas i might try one day:

A game inspired by Shepherd's Crossing, in which the player lives in a small rural colony, with the objective of finding ways to help the many industries within it until it becomes a full-fledged city, via exploring, foraging, hunting, mining, farming, and fishing, the game will be a mix of 4X (outside the town controlling your party, think Neo Scavenger), and life-sim with developing friendships and relationships with the townsfolk, and refugees you find and rescue in the wilderness.

A Maniac Mansion inspired comedy horror game, in which you control a group of kids (each one with a specialization) trying to investigate weird things happening around town, vibe wise it would be Scooby Doo vs The Cthulhu Mythos, with them getting involved with cosmic horror, but having the mysteries be on a more lighthearted tone, it would just be a puzzle game of trying to find clues and avoid getting killed by monsters and cultists.

These are the more fleshed out ideas i have.

A Yakuza like game based on my country but instead of playing as a criminal you are just a normal person who's trying their best to survive the hellhole known as Dhaka ?

Try Umurangi Generation.

Try Monster Hunter Stories

watching the thread so i can plagiarize all the ideas presented here
Honestly, if my ideas got stolen I'd be totally fine if the result is just close to my vision and good quality. I want them to exist more than I want credit.

GIANT F###ING ROBOTS!!!! Several good ones I;ve played and I SO WANT A REAL ONE.

A ton personally, too many gaming projects, although mine are generally always more exploring a mechanic or somewhat more technical concept really, its just more fun that way for me personally - here a few random late ones (Im hoping these images and links work, I havent really tried uploading here much) - Its probably obvious, but I use Unity3d C# (Its the poison I know).

My Current playground is around attempting to use cellular life in both a 3d / 2d environment - I need to work out a 'living' formula for RGB colour values, which the part im up to - and at least the fun part now lol (after getting everything actually wired up).
Only have these as video, too big to upload here :

Also played around with it, in a cube world where you can change gravity on every axis - but as this also has multiplayer capacity, I fear its too headache inducing lol.

Procedurally generated GBC zelda game, uses WFC generation to build the world.
Never really got further into housing (I got stumped on an idea of wanting to have houses / buildings bigger on the inside when entered - and also constructable).
Wanted to have a living zelda world, you could pick a faction to play as, conquer the world in different ways etc.
Also had lighting & pathfinding integrated (https://jumpshare.com/s/UuBFsXychokP0Pvejc05) - Probably will eventually come back to this concept.

3D roguelike (turn based oldschool style, FOV - everything moves based on time units, open world streamed chunks), also procedural generation, world can be modified (I wanted you to be able to live and craft a base / cave on this generated island, apocalyptic future vibes, very Qud etc) - with the ability to switch between FPS and top down views - More of a 'could it be done' concept, in which, I dont really think it plausibly can - or at least, im not the one to do it .

It sounds pretty interesting, and it could be a game like Ecco the Dolphin, where everything seems childish and suddenly the most out of place enemies appear.

These are not my own ideas, but I wish random encounters in RPGs did not exist. I wish I could always see the enemies on the map. I would also like to have the option to do more than one hit, or combos, when attacking in an RPG game, like in Xenogears.

I use to really hate random encounters in JRPG's, which is one of the reasons Chrono Cross clicked with me so well. I've since become a lot more tolerant of them, but I'll always prefer just seeing enemies, or at least some distinct "if you touch this/stand here you will get a battle" method.

I want to make a video game about world war 2 , having multiple campaigns one for each nation for both sides each country will have 2 protagonists for germany a panzer crewman and an infantry , for the British a pilot and an infantry , the game also features multiple endings for each campaign.

The endings depend on multiple factors most important is your actions during the war whether you commit heinous war crimes or not I mean touching on sensitive topics like as soviets you get to treat german women in many ways whether you do that or that , as germans a mission has to be in the camps where you get the choice to take part in the burning of Jews this action if yes will eventually lead you to bad ending if no you will get to live in the end , not only would it explore the player own moral standing but it would show the war in a less heroic way....

For gameplay I like WW2 small arms dynamic I also like a more realistic shooting than arcade like COD think of counter strike shooting , depending on the nation you get to command tanks planes etc.

Each character has their own story and I would like to add that the war crimes you commit may not lead to your death in the end you can lose a limb an eye or get blinded or lose hearing etc the outcome depends on what you do and how bad it is.

This game will need a comprehensive and deep search in WW2 to get everything right this means I would want the team that I assemble to read books , watch documentaries and more to ensure we get a well done game that respects history.

From developing good missions to good gameplay to integrating the war crime system to multiple endings of each character story I think the project is so huge and grand that it will never come true.....

I always wanted a bodybuilding game, where you run a gym and you can customize it and have to pay attention to the finances and who to hire as personnel. Kind of like how you can build and customize in The Sims.

But it has to be really really hard, if you manage poorly, the gym goes bankrupt and you have to start over.

I want Disaster Report but it's not limited to just disasters, add zombie apocalypse, war scenarios, home robbery, there are countless variation here, you could say it's emergency sim type of game.

Thinking about game concepts helps me fall asleep, so I have a few.

I'd love to play a horror dungeon crawler where every night you have to fight your way through dream dungeons that are effected by actions in the real world. Your character's job, personality traits, and friends would dictate things like class and perks. Maybe there's an "aura" system where the different foods you eat influence how enemies react to you. Like you eat some cheese before bed and it knocks your aura into a negative state which would make you easier to spot, but it gives you a damage buff. Or maybe you eat some strange supernatural food that puts you in a positive aura state, but it spawns a really hard pursuer enemy that drops a powerful weapon. I'm imagining a kind of spiritual successor to Baroque.

Too many, I often brainstorm game idea concepts just for creative exercise. Some I've done as like a "how would I have done this game" remake kinda thing, I've done that with Gotham Knights and a lot of BioWare games.

For ones that I've actually put more thought into;
-a co-op action brawler Dragon Age game, I think there's a lot of potential in the concept.
-a Marvel arena fighter which I'm honestly surprised hasn't been done yet. It'd play like a combination of UA3 only with the type of skill trees from Marvel Heroes (I'll always miss you, RIP) and be sort of a musou type game I suppose.
-a Punisher game focused on the realistic sim aspect of being a vigilante. You have to worry about concealing weapons, police investigations, avoiding civilian casualties, gathering information in sandbox maps, stuff like that. Itd be most similar to the Hitman games, incorporating that style of social stealth. There'd be a 'planning stage' before each mission where you can spend 'intel' currency to do things like set up a dead drop of weapons somewhere on the map, narrow down gang locations, etc.
-a superhero beat 'em up in the style of Streets of Rage with a few different modes. There'd be a random 'rogue-like' type of Patrol mode, a story to go through and a bunch of unlockables and secret routes; my idea for the map progression is like Shredders Revenge where there's a bunch of side stuff to uncover.

You had me at cyberpunk. That sounds sick.

I have an idea for a Street Racing JRPG that takes place in the mid 2000s where you can race other Street racers visible on the overworld and, when you beat them, you get to take one of their parts, like Racing Lagoon.
But the game, just like Ridge Racer, uses fictional car brands based on real life car brands, like Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Ford, Chevrolet, Lamborghini, etc.
And the car parts are basically the game's version of armor that levels up the more you win races, and you get to also modify and customize your car's appearance.
And the game has typical jrpg elements like exp, side quests, secrets to discover, etc.

So Metal Max but cars, I'd buy this day 1.

That sounds really damn cool man, and very unique too.
