have you ever fallen victim to a scam?

Not me, but my partner is always getting emails about people trying to get into his accounts.

At one point, someone used his Amazon and his bank card to order a 350$ cooler, and got it sent to Indiana or some shit? Got that shut down real quick, took all our info off Amazon and stopped using it for a while.

Attempted to buy a PC Engine mini console from an untrustworthy website. They took my money and never sent me anything, but gave me phony tracking number and PayPal refused to give me a refund since the site claimed they had delivered it.

She what?…

she sold my pc and bought a phone for her new boyfriend with money from my PC ::surprised-pikachuwe were living together, but when we separated, I rented another place and went to pick up my belongings later. She said she threw my computer away as trash, but I realized later that she had sold it when I saw my computer at the computer store. There was a sticker on the back of the case, and that's how I figured it out.

Still brainstorming and gathering data to create the perfect scam, huh?
Suspicious GIF

One time, I was desperate to secure last minute tickets to a gig. Someone on FB claimed to be selling. They had over 100+ friends and 1+ year posts, so I took them up on it. Paid via PayPal "friends and family", so that they they wouldn't be "hit with an extra charge". Then, once I had sent the money, they video called me to laugh in my face for being gullible.
I got on the line to PayPal and got my money back, but still.
There are some unsavoury folks out there.
Oh well, lesson learned.

Holy shit, that's mean as hell. Getting scammed is already bad enough, but getting laughed at on top of that? What a bunch of uncivilized pricks.

Quite recently, I met someone online while playing a Monster Hunter game in PSN. I helped him out by providing several RNG dependent quests I had but he didn't that would help him progress. I got a friend request from him and I accepted. He was grateful and he would often visit the online session I hosted and w'd play several quests together. He was quite chummy after that.

Then one day, he saw I was playing a certain game that he was interested in (through checking the friends list where you could see what games your friends are playing). Then out of the blue, he asked for my account details so he could play my game on his console. That immediately rang alarm bells in my head and he said pretty please through several messages. I just stopped responding and I never saw him again in my games.

I know it's the prudent and sensible thing to not give someone your account details who's not a very close friend or family member but I sort of feel bad. Was he a scammer? Would he have logged into my account and changed the password? Would he have just played the game and not mess up my account? I don't know but...why does anyone ask those things with people they don't really know if they mean well?

Anyway, I didn't de-friend him. His name is still there, still plays a lot of games but there's no contact with him whatsoever.
100% a scammer, would have lost your account forever, should probably report him

Yes, my ex-girlfriend sold my computer after I moved out and she used the money to buy her new boyfriend an iphone. I found out about this 3 months after we broke up.
Dude, that's not a scam. I would call that straight up theft. Were you able to at least recover your money?

Well, a few months ago, a few months ago I received a call regarding my S.I.M, the person on the phone said that the company is making some "adjustments" and need to verify my information. At first I stated that when did this start, the person said it was recent, to which I said that I didn't receive any updates from the company. So I started having fun and said my fake name, and number, to which they "transferred the call" to another person (She was sitting right next to him). I ask why did you transfer the call ? to which she said that the bank information is taking from this sector of the office ((RED ALERT RIGHT HERE)). I said I don't have a bank account, (having some fun time with them) to which they started asking personal questions and to which I replied "Are you done with the Scam or should I Stop the recording ? " That hung-up Immediately.

When I was like 10 I clicked on those "Free Monster Mini-Fridge" banner ads on YouTube. I put in my address but couldn't go any further because the lack of debit card.
